    One of the highlights of my 30 career as Takent Buyer/ Promoter was playing Carl Perkins in my 1st job. He put on a great show with the same energy as seen here.

    George played those notes to "That's Alright", almost verbatim to the way Scotty played it. This performance proves that George was a serious student of Scotty and Carl both. I never get tired of watching this.

    Super classy of George when Carl said he couldn't remember the lyrics, he started the song and jogged Carl's memory. You can tell he was a true fan, knowing all the words and licks.

    You can feel by george"s eyes that he's totally in so much joy playing on stage with his teacher. Carl is George's biggest influence even his playing style is so "Carl"

      Imagine what it must have been when George and the Beatles first met their hero (in 1964 ?)...they were on a rollercoaster ride but must have been in awe of this guy who had in effect "gone nowhere" after the initial success. 5 years back they were poor kids in Liverpool scrambling to get their hands on his records !

    I literally cried my eyes out watching this because there were no more worlds to conquer. This is perfect. Lot’s going on. First, George Harrison’s eyes are connected with those of Carl Perkins as if to ask “Father, did I do well?” as he plays lead guitar. Eric Clapton, perhaps the greatest at his craft of all time, simply admiring Perkins. Rosanne Cash, daughter of Johnny, singing background. Rings Star on the tambourine. Love this!

      Watch "Mean Woman Blues" with Clapton and Carl Perkins, Eric looked and played enthusiastic with Carl Perkins and Carl was amazed with Eric's performance. I understand the flaws of 70's and 80's Eric Clapton but also realize he was probably drunk here and he didn't get totally clean and sober until November of 1987. Like Stevie Ray Vaughan after he got sober, he and Clapton were at their peak after they got clean and sober!! In short, Clapton is god!!!

      What George did with The Beatles was only the beginning. He was forever in the shadows of the Lennon/McCartney juggernought of Lennon/McCartney . . .
      BUT OH BOY . . . just look what he did post The Beatles.
      I remember Elvis referring to the song "Something" as "the greatest love song ever written, without actually saying "I love you"

    Of all the coolness that is going on here, George Harrison singing Glad All Over some 32 years after the Beatles performance of the song for BBC radio is completely awesome! And yes he remembered the words. Of course the reunion of Carl and Eric after they appeared on the Johnny Cash show in 1970 is fantastic. So much greatness!

    Carl Perkins was one hell of a talent, and never got the acclaim that he should have, but he was highly respected by other musicians. Superb.

      Carl was on his way to stardom when he had a aweful wreck that killed his brother and changed his life forever.Elvis recorded/stole blue suede shoes while he was laid up in the hospital recovering from that wreck.His career never recovered the momentum it had prior to it.The rest they say is history.

      @@jimmyhenley8100 You are correct sir. Sam Phillips knew he could not keep The King. He got I think $35K from RCA. Better than nothing. He was the biggest act in the world. But he thought with Carl he had sumthin which he did. Carl could sing, play and write his own songs. Elvis to be honest sang and was the most charismatic act on the planet. Still Sam thought he could get behind Carl. Nuthin was gonna replace the King but Carl was going to be a huge star too. Then the wreck. Carl became an alky. John R. who suggested the title Blue Suede Shoes saw the fix Carl was in, invited him to join his band and brought Carl back. John always called Carl "Rock King!!"

    This is joy undiluted. The power of music. Even the sometimes glum Clapton is energized. And George Harrison (as others have already said) looks like a teenager, the years stripped away with his delight in the music and his love for the great Carl Perkins (himself a modest man of staggering talent).

    My family and I had the privilege and honor of not only visiting Graceland in Memphis, but also being able to visit Sun studios where it all started. Plus my parents used to listen to Johnny Cash when I was young. What a wonderful meeting of such legends as these people were.

    Ok. This clip is historic. Carl Perkins, George Harrison (who snagged/developed Carl’s licks to make his own sound), Eric who played with Carl during a Derek & the Dominos set on the Johnny Cash Show (UA-cam it), Dave Edmunds, Ringo, cats from the Stray Cats, & Rosanne Cash. The joy on their faces says it all! And George in awe, having the time off his life, looking at Carl for Daddy’s approval. And he got it! Thx for the upload!

    Harrison looks like a kid in a candy store. It's so cool to see someone who was, unarguably, one of the most influential musicians EVER, look up to their idol. Just goes to show how important Carl Perkins was. I've read all of the Beatles say, "if it weren't for Carl Perkins, there would have never been the Beatles." Thank God for Perkins and thank the Good Lord for the Beatles...

      I thought Eric C was almost too cool. Dave Edmonds was pure adrenalin. Great memory there, even with an overload of regular progression Rock songs. Everybody could play every one after one verse. Love it.

    Carl Perkins was a very humble person because of the way he was raised. I heard him say in an interview that he worked on the fields as a laborer. When the day was almost over in the evening, a black lady would start singing and that was the best part of the day. RIP I which there was more people like you.

      George got the label 'the quiet one' during one if not the Beatles first US tours. He had or was bordering on laryngitis and was unusually taciturn. Anyone that knows him know he is not like that at all. But why ruin a good American misconception?!

I got blisters on my fingers"....know who gets blisters..? beginners and people that shoot thier mouth of more than they play guitar......any guitar player or bassist will tell ya.....they have callouses that are like rocks on your finger tips

      For real the truth has been spoken. At 15 yrs old the Beatles themselves knew George Harrison was the real deal. When asked for an audition he promply mounted a tour bus and schooled Lennon and McCartney on how to play lead guitar on a summer night in 1958. Made them believers so fast they hired a fifteen year old ON THE SPOT. 15 YEARS OLD!!! Lennon only knew banjo chords and Macca couldnt play lead guitar.......Yet. George could, with authority. Your hired!!!
