A lot of people doubt .380. Always remember humans are squishy, we aren’t built like bears, and in the case of lethality, even .380 is more than you ever need to take out a human in a defensive scenario. The projectile shares the same size as 9mm, cartridge only slightly shorter. With good defensive ammo, you get right around the same ballistics as some of your lower end 9mm rounds. I love shooting .380 out of an adequate sized gun such as the Glock 42. The size of the 42 combined with .380 makes for a very mild, easy to tame and be proficient combo. I can surely outshoot myself with a g42 compared to a g43, it’s just the nature to the recoil. Not to mention it’s a 3 dimensional world, in a defensive situation or a shtf apocalyptic world, you may sustain a hand/wrist injury. You might find the mild recoil of the 42 pays off which switching hands or firing with an injury. All in al, Glock 42 is an excellent choice, don’t hesitate one bit with its capabilities! But I would suggest sticking with the standard glock 6 round mags like the engineers intended, heck same rule applies to all glocks, but .380 rounds are notoriously finicky, use good ammo and Glock mags!
The Glock 42 is the BEST .380 on the market. Period. I own two. People talk trash about it’s 6+1 capacity but it works better than the Sig 365 380 or the Ruger max 380. Carry a spare mag or two. It’s the most accurate .380 too.
I agree! And the mags are so small, carrying 1 or 2 extras is not a problem. Also, yes on the accuracy, I was surprised at how well it handles and shoots for it being such a small pistol. Really shoots like a bigger Glock, I just had to get used to the smaller grip, but that didn’t take long. It is a beast, and super comfy, that you can forget it’s there, it’s a great EDC
Absolutely. I’ve had mine for 4 years carrying it and beating the hell out of it. I will say this: the finish and durability of the finish is not great. I have some rust spots on the barrel and slide I’ve had to clean up. Outside of that there is no better shooting and feeling .380 like it
I love my Glock 42! I extended my magazines to 8 rounders and I bought two 10-round magazines. It's effortless to conceal, and the round does work for self-defense.
I’m going to add talon grips shortly. Also looking at the Magguts springs to add 1 more round. I’m also going to get one mag with the +2 extension as well
I used to think if I could only have one gun it’d be my 19, after a year of 42 use I’m thinking if I could only have one it’d be the 42. Can take it anywhere.
Been carrying the 42 for a while now and as much as i love the 26 the 42 is so small and comfortable to carry it’s been my go to especially in the summer months. I got it in the battlefield green frame looks really slick. Enjoy
I’m the same way, I have the 43X, but find myself grabbing the 42 more, it’s definitely the more comfortable carry, you can easily forget you’re wearing it!
Use Pearce +1 extension. It gives you a pinky hold, adds 1 more round and adds very little length to grip. I had a Hogue beavertail Handall grip and it takes it to another level. I may try hogue universal grip that adds less girth than the beavertail grip but should still fill the hand better than stock grip.
My wife has a Sig P230. It’s nice. 8+1 if I remember correctly. Cocoa Bolo smooth wood grips. The trigger pull is a crisp 3 pounds. It was made during a time when a quality gun had to not just get the job done, but had to be worked by the factory, polished blueing. Polished interior.
@@gunsque9982 my brother has the Glock 27 and we had to replace the firing pin and firing pin spring because of light primer strikes. It was unreliable as a carry gun. Sending it back with a 8 month wait was not reasonable, so I did it for him. It still had issues with slide cycling until we replaced the recoil spring and rod for steel. Finally, after all that it became a reliable for carry gun. I carry a Colt M1911-A1 and have done so for 30 years. No problems. Just replace springs as they wear out. I need too start a rotation with the 43X but I carry the 42 sometimes and I do own the Glock 22,23,42,19,26,43x. I want added the 19x,27,48,45 and I do carry the Taurus GX4 and I am about too added Sig P365. I was thinking about the hellcat and Smith&wesson sheild plus. The first two gun I ever bought was the Glock 22,42, I will not sell either one of those few years back you really don’t have much for carry option but now you have so many. But good review.
I prefer the 43X as well. I’m new to 9mm, have always owned .45 ACP and .40. I’m actually doing the same, building a rotation around my 43X. I want to add the 26 and I’m strongly considering the Hellcat as well. I’m looking for a good holster for my G45, I’m having a tough time because I put a Streamlight TLR-8 on it and I’m finding that there aren’t a lot of holsters for it and ones made for the TLR-7 don’t fit it.

Several reasons:
1. It’s easier to reload with a semiautomatic and easier to spare mags than speedloaders.
2. They make a conversion that takes the mags on this gun to 7, making it 7+1 (2 more rounds than a revolver)
3. With a semiautomatic, there’s always the option of extended mags, revolvers don’t offer that.

Gen 5
The Sig P238 HD has entered the room!!! Hold my beer 🍺!!! Glock is arguably the 2nd best 380...Sig 238 ....is smaller...more accurate and a smoother shooter...I have both! G42 is lighter
I’ll hold your beer if you let me shoot that 238…because I’ve heard nothing but good about it! Lol
@@gunsque9982 very very sweet shooter...ESPECIALLY the 238HD with alot of lube....shoots butter smooth!!
6:45 gives me anxiety
I'm about to pick up a G42 to back up my G26
Great little backup pistol!
