Looking forward to Sim Settlements for Starfield 😃👍🏻
Exactly what I am hoping for too
we will see, Gath has been on this for so long, I hope he does though.
Even just having something line the clutter system from Sim settlements being added to interiors/outposts in general.
Like have them build pristine and clean, then after someone has been assigned for a while little bits of clutter appears, posters, sticky notes etc. making it look lived in.
Doesn't make sense for it to look lived in the second you build it
Just got to work out how to do it with Procedural tech
...
I would love to build space stations as well if that's possible.
Kinggath is an absolute legend. The gold standard of modders.
CBBE + BodySliders + Slooty Spacesuits that's my JAM. Also Can't wait to turn my ship into a brothel and become SPACE PIMP. So i would need cane walk animation too...get on that modders
Lucky for you there is some really dedicate people out there that I am sure they will strive for that same experience. Keep an eye on Loverslabs and thanks for the comment.
I loved using CBBE+Bodyslide for slim bodies, and the excellent Cross gear edits, like the wearable jump jets and motoko kusanagi skinsuit. I modded my F4 past 300 mods to the point where it looked and played more like it was set on a planet in the Warhammer 40k universe rather than post-war Boston. It's amazing what modding can do. I don't really think of Beth as being a game developer so much as being a platform with mod sockets developer.
This was my favorite mod for Fallout. I didn't engage with the story at all, but I loved being able to just put someone in charge and come back to check out all of the awesome settlements that users had created. I can't wait to see something like this in Starfield
I love this mod because there is a bunch of game play loops that are fun by themselves, even without the main story. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, I really appreciate that!
The sad part about modding is that the mod authors dont really own any of their creations, and still do not get compensated. Then on top of that, you have to keep your mod relevant otherwise its going to become obsolete simply due to time passing and technology changing, modders have to make their own tools and many times wear multiple hats and put in many many hours, and that is incredibly inspiring, motivating, and just makes me joyful to know that we still persist to create and put passion into the world without having to rely on the carrot at the end if the stick
Beth tried to compensate them ( some of the modders ofc) via creation club, we all rioted. I have the CC mods for skyrim via anniversary update and honestly some of the dungeons are really good, some of the top modders on nexus made them!
There is a lot of truth to that, thats why I'm hoping the more people understand the level of work that goes into these beloved mods, then they can show support and patience with mod development. Also, having the game developers work closer with modders and get these really well done mods canonized because I think that's the dream for a lot of us. To actually have our mark left on the games we love.
A series I legit had no idea I craved so much. I hope your channel explodes in popularity and you bring on tons of well-known mod creators
This^
booooo after reading this im "sad" When you land on the planet you get a gigantic region you can explore that's probably 30 minutes in every direction. However that direction is capped off. You then need to go to your map and select a point on the planet to make a new landing zone which then generates another area. So you cannot start at the landing part of your ship and walk all the way around the planet.
@@nemesisone8927 Not sure if this is true or not yet since this "leak" was based on the starting area and it may be different once in the regular game, but we will find out in a few days.
Thank you so much for the love and support, I will keep reaching out to mod authors and I would love to hear from new and veteran modders a like.
Five more days. We are fortunate early release actually happens technically a day earlier on the 31st.
I couldn't help myself, I had to get that Aug 31st release, at least it comes with the expansion.
@@shilohmc lol Same.
I don't know how I am going to survive till the 6th. Guess I'll have to do it.
You are going to have to really work to keep spoilers out of your social media. It is bad now I can imagine what happens after reviews drop.@@BlottyWellRight
@@shilohmc You can't control everything. I just wouldn't watch anything starfield after the embargo launches if you want to keep away from spoilers.
Salvage Beacons by KingGath for FO4 was perhaps the best FO4 mod ever. I hope he does similar for Starfield. "Constellation Couriers" or something like that.
That is a great mod, it gets over shadowed by his other works buy I agree. I would love to see a version of that in Starfield.
2023 Kinggath - "Going to continue working on Fo4"
2025- "Introducing Sim Solar Systems"
You should check out his live stream. He was play starfield and building a settlement... I think he is getting pulled into it. We will have to see, but ill let you guys know if I hear anything.
The stache looks good man.
lol thanks man, I like a stash with a stubble beard but clean with the mustache... I just don't know 😅
Look at you, rocking the Magnum!
14:37 you know kinggath, this is the best accident you have ever done in your life
Agreed, what a crazy 7 years after that "accident".
Sim Settlements 2 elevated Fallout 4 to my 2nd favourite game of all time. The war with the gunners totally outshines the institute storyline and feels like the true conflict and ending to Fallout 4. The NPCs in this mod are better than most of the vanilla NPCs too. I really hope you guys will get involved with Starfield too. It's a great sandbox within which to create great stories. But it lacks soul. It's hard to care about characters in Starfield. You gave Fallout 4 a soul. Starfield needs a soul too.
Yeah, Elder Scrolls is High Fantasy.
Imagine skyrim map on one of the empty planets 😁
I really think it will happen, people have been hungry for a new Elderscrolls title. But we still have SkyOblivion, Beyond Skyrim, Skywind and more coming.
I played Runescape as an adult, with my kids who were maybe 11 and 6 at the time. Same thing though, I was helping my younger son through the game by reading most of the dialog boxes for him. I credit that game with helping him learn to be a good reader. That, and I read Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit to them every night since the younger one was 3!!
I believe fantasy and exploring the magical is some of the best ways to inspire kids. Star Trek really drove my passion for exploration and games was a wonderful way for my imagination to interact with a radically different universe.
All hail Kinggath!
Huzaaah! Huzzaaaah!
to clarify: Low fantasy means only humans and monsters with some magic aka the conan books. high fantasy is something like the lord of the rings.
Thank you, is there low sci-fi and high sci-fi too?
I wouldn't call it a "Military Moustache", more like a "Mercury Moustache", which to my ear has more pleasing alliteration to it. I'm not really a facial hair person myself, but you do you, and have the best fun you can!!!
Thanks for the interview content, this stuff lis my earcandy while I'm going through the doldrums at my desk making busywork to make the hours melt away. :)
Freddy is king, I take that as a great compliment! And that you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it.
just a few days left, gnnnnhhh
I know, the wait is starting to hurt lol
that was a good interview man. good shit.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, I really appreciate that.
I was thinking it’s more ted lasso
Enjoyed listening to this. Great to have some insight into the development of SS and SS2. Love hearing the passion for the project.
Thank you for the support, it was really good for me to hear how it started too, since I was the last guy on the team.
Mustache looks good brother gives you alot of character
and here I thought he made me look like I was delivering a pizza in a 70's adult film lol.
Because they talked about how odd it was that fallout 4 had such little support for many things compared to skyrim:
Fun fact: Fallout 4 was built from the ground up to be multiplayer. However, half way through development, they ran into so many issues that they scrapped the whole engine work they did and salvaged the assets, and started over. (This is how 76 became a thing. They took the scrapped engine work they made, and gave it to one of their sub studios to finish. This was done during fallouts 4's development, meaning fallout 76 had almost triple the time of production of fallout 4.) This was talked about in a very rare and obscure interview with Todd Howard at a game school meeting he had been invited too talk at.
Ohh that is awesome, I never knew that. Thanks for dropping that knowledge, I really do wonder if they are going to do something with all their Multiplayer implementation attempts or if they are gun shy now.
Low fantasy = Real world with magic ( harry potter )
High fantasy = imaginary worlds ( LOTR )
Thank you, I will not make that mistake again lol
One word, VATS!
Great Interview with the author of F4's greatest Mod, was a pleasure to listen
I really appreciate the support Zap, thank you!
I started playing with Sim Settlements on my second playthrough. I've done load orders and playthroughs without it, since, but I always come back to it and I never get tired of hearing him talk about it. Good stuff, Shiloh!
I Appreciate you Bubbleonia! thanks always for stopping by and showing your support.
Great chat between you guys. Also congrats on partnership 👏
Hey thank you! I appreciate the support GamerG.
Damn dude you blew straight past 500 subs awesome to see!
Now over 700! Damn, Gath is the King I guess lol and thank you!
i think king is right that in the fallout new vegas modding scene there are incredibly talented modders who are missing something in fallout 4 and i think he is also right that modders have to pay attention to whether a game has a certain longevity so that big projects are really worthwhile I also think that projects as big as Fallout 3 & New Vegas fan remakes for Fallout 4 could mean that more of these talented modders will move to Fallout 4 if their favorite game is available in a new engine and that will only increase the longevity of Fallout 4. That's exactly why I think that the announcement of the official Oblivion remake is all the more dangerous, because that could mean, as already mentioned, that such projects will end shortly before completion, take the wind out of the modders' sails and negatively affect the longevity of the modding scene.
I thought it was strange that they would do that, I don't see why they would undercut the modding community like that, I am curious what is happening behind the scene's. I just hope Bethesda reached out to SkyOblivion team offering to buy up their work or something. Well, I guess we will see how that plays out.
Low Fantasy is more grounded in realism, with none or little magic & non-humans either don't exist or are very rare, sometimes only as 'monsters',High Fantasy is the exact opposite.
This is the same for Sci-Fi vs Low-Fi & Starfield is Low-Fi o7🚀
Just subbed. A very interesting conversation indeed. Modders make the World go around. 👍
I appreciate that clarification and your sub! I am looking forward to talking to more modders especially after they have the game and they start getting ideas for mods.
Conan is a great example of low fantasy.
There are even further additions to this: Hard Science Fiction and Hard Fantasy. The Netflix/Amazon show The Expanse is very close to being true Hard SciFi, and the book series by Glen Cook centered around an elite mercenary unit called "the Black Company" which is an excellent example of Hard Fantasy wherein magic does exist, but it uses firm rules, and may be rarely seen by the average person. The books read like World War I fiction.
Wow, that was a great interview.
Thank you!, I had to save Gath for last before the Starfield launch.
I just subbed because of the epic stash that reminds me of my dad in the 80s. Rock it brother!
I remind myself of my dad in the 80's too lol and thanks for the sub.
Imagine what this guy's gonna do with Starfield, he'll single handedly (ok maybe the unofficial patch team too) bring it up to frickin' snuff
That's why I hope he gets inspired by Starfield, he still has a team that most are very interested in modding with him.
@@shilohmc Now that some time has past, do you know if he has any interest in the Starfield modding scene?
@@SkintSNIPER262 I can’t 💯 say, but I am almost certain he is one of the testers for CK2. But he is still in FO4 mode
Xbox Series X fans are praying for a 60fps mode T_T.., please!!
As a dad to three littles couldn't agree more with your Minecraft take!
Now I have a reason to become a parent.
Always good content from you my guy
I really appreciate that, thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Let’s hope they call it star settlers
SimFielders?... ya Star Settlers is the better choice.
Starfield baby! Getting close now.
I hope I make it, I feel like each day is moving turtle speed.
But will the pc mod also be available on consoles? Or if we have the game via gamepass, is there the possibility to access the files of the game even tho we don’t own it?
💖
almost 300 thumbs up!!
And almost Starfield, I can't wait!
I could never get som settlements to work on console but it looked really cool.
I have that with a lot of games and mods. Sometimes I rather just watch a Lets Play with a youtuber than play the game.
@@shilohmc Ewww no, Its incredibly boring watching someone play video games, watching a walkthrough or review is different, but even Lets Plays I just skip to different parts.
@@ALiberalVeteran lol fair but for the Story type games like the last one for Star Trek I rather watch that like a show. You know the Tell Tale brand of games.
lol wow Now I may have to go back to FO4 just to see the new SS!!!
It is really worth it and I am not just saying it because I work on it lol.
I always wanted to get into modding. I have very basic 3d modeling skills more so on the 3d printing side. I wonder how much of the game can you change? Do you have to keep a core part of the game unchanged in order for the mods to work?
It depends on what tools we get from Bethesda and the Third party tools we get from the community but If you see how much Sim Settlements pushed the code to add entirely new features to the game, I can imagine that Starfield could let us do even more crazy stuff. But it is also important to remember that Sim settlements was a 7 year project and is still being worked on... so we need passionate modders.
They mostly have to build a new framework to implement their ideas into the original coding. SKSE is the epitome of this.
You have great facial structure bro, looking good still!
Hey thank you! I need that encouragement every now and then.
hey i just stared the vid and gonna ask now, its probably brought up in the vid , but so does gamepass allow scripts yet? new to adding mods to games and i heard its different between gamepass and steam version. if its in the vid u may ignore me if you like but yeah thanks in advance!
I believe as long as the mods are in the Xbox ecosystem, you can use the mods with game pass but script extenders and the more pc focused mods, I do not know. I hope it is and they allocate a lot of space for modding Starfield.
Modding seems like such an obscure world. It's too bad there isn't some kind of vehicle for people to sort of open the door to modding (especially SF) to get a better understanding of it all. Some interesting videos showing the craft of modding for the beginner or lay person would be nice.
I really want to get into this exact topic, my goal is to bring modders and modding to a better understood process. Definitions and basic tutorials to show the tools modders will be working with.
What a class act.
He has done so much for the modding community, I got lucky to be able to work on his team.
how will Starfield be if Sim Settlements can be put on it or its version of it
It would need a lot of modifications to be put into Starfield and probably only the Papyrus code could really be reused. So basically it would be from the scratch up if we were to do that.
this modder here is a god, respect
Agree and to his family he is probably know as a workaholic lol.
Long live our GodKing!
you will grow very fast, and that's a cool moustache
Lol thank you, and I appreciate the support!
i bin modding games since i was a kid back in the SC/WC days :) but im solo & i need to love the game to mod it& with a burning in my sole idea. im not some corpo lap dog i dont care about the money .but cant wait for the nex gen voxel tek to hit because im a voxelmancer from landmark/EQ3next & the unreal5 voxel plugin is exiting my brain zone & some other parts to
I always appreciate having modders stopping by in the comments. For me, I think it would be cool if we no longer need Nif scope and there is easier ways to get animations and models directly into the game.
Mandalorian :p
i got covid or a fever, am hoping for a week off of work so i can play this game lol
lol well I want you to stay healthy but I also want you to have the time to Play Starfield...
i so agree i tried to learn maya blender unreal + slicer fusion360 for 3d printing & my biggest tip/wish/fix is to make it work like a video game and simplify LOOK into modding tools that r EZ to use. most creators r artists not rocket scientist we dont want to hand make the brush we just want to use it efficiently .lol WTF blender no1 can remember 10K+ keystrokes OR Y cant i just use WASD to move around in most of this stuff & if u try to re keybind u end up missing something else up & ya i lend to use them but its so annoying i just dont want to & knock me out of art flow & even worse is need to switch to a different program to do a small task but its got different controls to:(WTF lol ...sorry for the rant i want to learn unreal5 but im scared because its going to take years just to do the simplest of things.:( thats Y sometimes its just better to just take a game that's made and gutt and tweek it. BUT then your stuck with the limits of the dev modding tools:(
Unreal Engine is a LOT easier than you think it is. Plus there are thousands of entry level tutorials on YT. You'll have simple game levels up and running in no time.
If someone saw how I manually modded my fallout 4 game, I'd probably be at risk of going to jail. I'll put it this way... LoverLab most likely wouldn't accept the mod I made. 😹🍭
Lol, I know that feeling and I am still a terrible modder, thats why I am happy being on a team with those much better than me. With that said I would love to see this abomination mod you created ; ).
I will be very happy to reinstall fallout 4 if it meant more mod space.
Extremely HAPPY
1 problem i got with mods is that it can um psychologically & permanently destroy a game for players . i think devs need to screen for OP GOD stuff players think they want GOD mode but not that fun :( & players knowing they can just DL some OP stuff/cheety gear or whatknot is super harmful to the core game. i mean i seen people that loved ARK than DL some mods & it just ended the game for them just knowing that DL stuff existed wrecked it for them
Yea, I have done that to myself even before mods though, playing a game on low difficulty and not using all the mechanics in the game that are made for hard mode. Then I try and play it again on hard and I can't get into it. I agree, people should definitely play the game bare bones first and after enjoying it add mods that make sense for your next playthrough.
You don't own the likeness of your voice, voice impersonation has been around a lot longer than AI. With 8 billion people on the planet, the truth is somebody already has your voice.
You're not making anyone say anything by having an AI learn how to do impersonations of a voice.
Thats logical but the number of people who can do an amazing impression is far rarer than a random person AI voice training. People who put the work into the impressions like that have tend to be respectful with the voice, not trying to scam people or put those people into compromising situations. and if they do, its easier to give those people cease and decease letters or punishment if its fraud. The issue is people can automate all these steps and hide their identify while spamming out other peoples voices all over the world. The level of it and the consistent believable impressions (and Videos) is a problem. and sure people have similar voices to you but they arn't trying to be you. This topic gets even more difficult when you are taking voice actors voices and using them and taking their jobs. There has to be some regulations on that, otherwise it will spread to many other job fields.
@@shilohmc im having a hard time understanding why you guys think ai voice needs to be regulated. We are heading to a reality of 90% of jobs being taken by ai and almost everyone being on universal income. most of these people are gonna have to spend there time on hobbies and exercising and reading and you wanna regulate creative outlets that these people are gonna be working on to fill there time. Heres an example of why this is not a good idea: recently i got into making mods and ive always wanted to but it always seemed like some sort of magic that i would never be able to do. I started with making my own dragonborn voice over and gave all of his dialogue my own custom ai voice that i worked on. Then i started working on quest mods that are fully voiced by ai and written with the help of ai and now im making on my own Papyrus scripts with the help of ai doing 80% of the work. also ai helped navigate me through the complicated process of beginning modding for example it help me with creation kit gave me shortcuts and told me what things did along the way of guiding me into making the mod itself and it helped me with scripting like how to use papyrus compiler and set it up. In a year or 2 i think people will be able to become full blown game developers and i think games are gonna be pushed out fast almost like how you see how many mods come out everyday expect it wont be mods releases but full blown games filling the internet.
