I'm leaving this comment to help with the algorithm. I discovered your channel through the restoration on your WRX. I watched every part of it multiple times. It was so satisfying to see from start to finish. At the time I was trying to save my 2003 Impreza WRX from the scrap yard, so your videos were super relatable and motivated me to try and save the car. Even though I am being forced to sell my Imp due to how far gone it is from frame rot, I never unsubbed from your channel. I haven't had the time or interest in watching your work lately because it makes me feel bitter and sad that I have to give up on my own project that I fell in love with. I saw your community post where this video was linked, and I knew I had to return. Please don't stop uploading. Never give up on what you love. You will regret it forever, but you will never regret giving it all your effort up until the very end. Trust me. Best of luck!
When I acquired my No.3 from a guy on Freecycle it was old (probably 1960s) but hadn’t seen much use, just stored in a shed for decades. So I gave it a rub down and bolted it to my bench as it was with its original patina. Hasn’t affected the way it works. When I found my No.6 it was left outside an engineering company for the scrappers 20 years ago. Due to years of heavy abuse, the grips were mashed to Bbbûgggerrry, and the amount of backlash was a crazy two turns!! Almost useless. But after stripping it, flattening the washers, replacing the screw pin and the nut location pin with homemade ones, it worked just fine again. The threads were as they left the factory! Zero backlash. So I switched the grips around top to bottom, greased it all up and rebuilt it. Again, no paint. Over £120 worth of vices at second hand value, for free and a bit of work. Neither are as photogenic as yours, but they’re great tools, far better than the new Record wood vice I bought a few years old. That has an annoying fault that bugs me. This is why I hate thieves. People throw out, dump and give away often perfectly useable or repairable tools every day. All you have to do is look. Thank you for sharing Peace
I once worked for a company that supplied Record. I visited their factory off the parkway at Sheffield on a few occasions. When I walked through it was like a proper factory smell, all metal and grease, proper stuff 👊🏼😎🔥
I've got that exact same vise!! It was my dad's and it's still in the same bench since i was a child. Never restored although much better shape than yours was and it's still getting used regularly on my classic bike restorations. Cheers!!
Beautiful restoration. I immensely enjoy the fact that your videos are narrated. They are much more educational & insightful that way. I would love it it others did the same. . . even if it were in a foreign language or had subtitles. Thank you RRC
Fabulous job, bringing back a great British made product. Though interestingly the slides were made in India and the main body was made in England. The modern Irwin made offering of the Record vice is a hateful looking thing with castings so rough you can cut your skin on. Love the fact that you used the correct colour as well , Roundall blue. I did one of these a while ago and used hammerite smooth blue, which irritates me every time i look at it. Still it was very satisfying to do.
Wonderful restoration as always can't wait to see those wonderful new tires assembled for the CR restore, and I think that a t-shirts with a "Time to crack on" print would be a great gadget to sell I would buy one immediately. ;)
I've got my dad's vice, I restored it but without the decals, I looked into replacing the jaws too as the originals have seen a hell of a lot of use, my god their expensive!
You could always restore the other one as well. Saw a good tractor engine block repair where the cast was heated then welded. Be interesting to see if it really is as strong as claimed 🙂
Great video! As usual, you've made me look at an old and crusty tool in my shed and say; "hmmm ...maybe I should Restore..." haha, thanks for these fantastic videos!
Nice project and finish. It looks very nice. I have a Craftsman vice pretty close to that same size that I am going to refurbish. And I am going to try powder coating it. I know it will take a lot longer to get a vice that size heated up for the powder coat to flow, but I am going to give it a go and see... Thumbs Up for your great looking vice though...
I subbed in a while back. with this posting I watched it thru and gave a thumbs up. Hope this helps the channel and you out. Love watching the CR250 build. thanks for what you do....
Strange to see you had to hold the pieces in place by hand to work on them. I'd have thought you'd have some sort of tool or equipment to make that easier 😁 Great work as usual, once again making something what it could have been in the first place 👍
Great video as always. Is there a reason why you always zinc plate and not nickel plate? Nickel plating seems both easier in handling and leaves a nicer finish. or is this something you would like to try in the future? No critic at all, just wondering.

Love the magic washer & spring/spring & washer
Spotted that too!
Great job, looks amazing. These old vices come up something lovely, many years left in this beauty 👍
George called, says he wants more screen time. Said something about feeling ignored 😂
I got given an old record vice about 10 years back that wouldn't turn . I restored it over 3 days with a can of Q20 . Its still working today 😄
Love that you still wet sand the primer. Even on a tool that's going to get beat-up. Because it has to be perfect. This is my kind of crazy.
Flattening juice, available now at RRC merchandise for $10 a gallon.
you will never need to replace your vice again, those Records are indestructible!
I'm still amazed by this vapor blasting device 🤩 Didn't even know sucha a thing exist, before seeing it in Your videos 😊
I once worked for a company that supplied Record. I visited their factory off the parkway at Sheffield on a few occasions. When I walked through it was like a proper factory smell, all metal and grease, proper stuff 👊🏼😎🔥
Every time I see the vapor blaster at work, I’m amazed all over again.
О я ждал это видео, когда ты его восстановишь!!👍
Great job. I actually like the casting marks on things like this. It reminds me of the huge steel forgeries casting these things.
Everybody tries the vice restoration but there is only one good video out there...good video at all.greetings from Germany my friend
I've got that exact same vise!! It was my dad's and it's still in the same bench since i was a child.
Never restored although much better shape than yours was and it's still getting used regularly on my classic bike restorations.
Cheers!!
Watching the master at work. Your a fine craftsman! ⚒️ 🛠 🧰
Man that paint is as smooth as glass, makes it look like plastic! Nice work!
Another amazing job another amazing restoration congratulations my friend
Awesome job my friend, now we wait for the day that the sketchy bench grinder gets restored. lol
Brilliant job 👍 turned out incredible. Very nicely done
Beautiful restoration. I immensely enjoy the fact that your videos are narrated. They are much more educational & insightful that way. I would love it it others did the same. . . even if it were in a foreign language or had subtitles. Thank you RRC
Made in England. You dont see that on many things these days. Great job as usual

See if fireball would be interested in putting the old one back together. Then let you do the finishing touches. Be a pretty cool collaboration.
Just like new and even better, after you finished I wouldn’t want to use it just put on the shelf as deco! Lol
I sit around watching videos like this all day, I suppose you could say it's.........my only vice.😅
Great job as always, enjoy so much watching your restoration work you are sharing on your channel. Look forward to your next video. Thanks a lot.
What is youtube playing at. We all love your unique and varied video restorations. I hope things pick up🤞🏻
better than new. u can put screen tint during welding so that sensitive eyes can still watch
Ooooh shiny... favorite part, plating at home. Very nice finish, but had it been around me as a child, it'd lasted about a week!
That's what I like about this fellow, no half measures! Too nice to use now! :)
Nice job, Nice editing and camera angles, so soothing to watch!! Well done
Right, time to go and give my Record some RRC love.
Awesome work you do 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great job my friend 👍👍🌹
Nice bro
Nice to See George.
I would love to see you ride the finished bikes!!
Great restoration video. Love your style of video. 👍🏼
Another tool worthy of your ownership 😁😁😁🇨🇦🇨🇦

A beautiful restoration
I've got my dad's vice, I restored it but without the decals, I looked into replacing the jaws too as the originals have seen a hell of a lot of use, my god their expensive!
Just watched it again...hope this helps 👍

Loved it. Glad to see the sand blasting again. Cheers mate.
That vise looks like BLUE GLASS, awesome job brother! 🔥👊🔥

The vice turned out great👌
I really appreciate all your efforts keep up the efforts, your a pleasure to watch.
Nice '' racing '' air filter for the vapor blaster ! ... And still an amazing work , as usual .
Nicely done.
Looking forward to assembly of those pristine wheels on the CR build. 🙌🏼
Beautiful result on that vise! It looks better than when it came from the factory I'm sure, and it's ready for some more work now!
beautiful job 👍😊💕
Nice job! I hope you do keep making videos, youtubes algorithm isnt fair 90% of the time
We need more blasting!
in assembly you put the washer in first then the spring, then switched it. I saw that :D
😂🤣😂
Watched it and even watched the full adds for you, Keep plugging 👍
Another lovely job.Brilliant.
Too good to use now 👍🏻

Wow i Love it so very good Work and a next perfect Video ❤️👍❤️
Looks great. I would have replaced the slotted screws with a Philips or other type. Slotted suck. Not sure why they keep making them.
Nice work! Vice envy.
I was gripped by this from start to finish 🤭
Great job
Think my vise needs some scrubby scrubby attention 🤣 another top video 👌
Cool job and beautiful result 👍
Nice work👍🖐
Notice you put the spring and washer in the wrong way then magically the right way in the next shot lol. Braw vice though
Very nice video! That looks too good to use! Take it easy, man!
It looks great!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up as a support

very relaxing and satisfying as usual
As usual an awesome job
Just commenting to help the algorithm. Hope it helps.
All I'm wondering about is if it's going to be the summer of George... He does look mighty fresh, I'd say.
Good high quality content!
excellent work there my friend,i wish my vice looked like that even before the resto!!haha
Strange to see you had to hold the pieces in place by hand to work on them. I'd have thought you'd have some sort of tool or equipment to make that easier 😁
Great work as usual, once again making something what it could have been in the first place 👍
We need to post more comments, it helps the video grow
