Brought back great memories of helping my father in the garage in the early 1970s. I saw the rusty starting piece and thought yes, but dad's was green. Then you painted it green and I have such a smile on my face. Thank you.
I'm old now but I can still smell the metal milling, the sanding the satisfaction on a part well made. I'm retired but younger people tell me the machines I worked on still function years later. I will never be famous but I did make things work.
I'm 69 but my dad was born in 1912 so I sort of think the old way - I have about 20 jacks similar to that one - my grandfather started working on stationary generators and water pumps in the very early 1900s - The generator I use after hurricanes might have been made in 1920 or so it's amazing how that old stuff keeps working long after we are dead and gone -
@@BettySwollocks13 Odd reply, there may be others on par, but this and other things he restores, he restores as close to new as possible. That CR250, that was obvs way more complex than this, was done to perfection.
I'll agree with @Betty Swollocks there are better restorers out there when it comes to this type of restoration, lets face it we are all thinking of my mechanics and to be fair he is a professional machinist with full access to lathes, mills, forges, etc etc and he is fully set up for this type of work where as im a professionally trained painter and mechanic so I think on work like this i do ok not he best but certainly not the worst and as @Halfdead Rider mentioned when it comes to my car and bikes restorations they are top notch as that's where my main skill set and workshop setup allows me to shine.
@@RRCRestoration I still kind of disagree though, simply because there was nothing more needed to be done to improve the jack. Sometimes a restorations can go too far, especially on an item like this, but of course that can also be subjective.
@@BettySwollocks13 Not too clever tbh!, the guy said the channel is the best, not that he is the best restorer. Also you did not simply say he wasn't, you said "there are some far better restorers out there", not exactly true, so yes on levels, an odd reply!
This is a very useful video for me. I have a very similar jack in a similar condition thanks to a leaky toolbox in the back of my truck. These jacks are old school but they're not throwaways, very strong and reliable. It's always good to watch someone else do a job like this before doing it oneself, even if it is straightforward. Thank you.
So beautiful, I'd never want to use it ... just put it on a shelf to admire. Sure miss that wonderful accent and voice on the video. Cheers from Minnesota.
Even though i could use it i wont because as you say its far too nice, It'll go on a self in the man cave as a nice decoration from now on. Don't worry the voice overs will be back soon ;)
You pay attention to the small details and strive for the perfection of the restoration, I enjoyed it very much and joined for further viewings in the future, well done
Lovely restoration. I am always impressed with the paint finishes you achieve on your projects. One would be forgiven for thinking the finishes were achieved by means of powder-coating. Thank you for sharing, all the best to you.
A nice sunday morning surprise. As usual amazing. I wonder what would happen on the internets if the Maestro were to have a bad day & did not share a perfect restoration... Nah it would never happen. Thank you and it only makes me still have hope that there are good people doing great things.
RRC Restoration excellent work as always and really enjoy the channel! I have on the few things I restored I've left some of the over flash casting for character.
Hello, how always your videos are very satisfactory, there is something that I love, you combine the restoration with the mechanics, greetings from Mexico.
Good job. I liked the way you presented the video. Well done. Not boring at all, very nice to watch. Nice edit skills. Great facilities, nice tools variety and quality.
I love how very organized all of the tools are! My Grandfather had a large collection of tools, but it was near impossible to find anything as it was not organized. Sadly, my Father was worse. It was faster to just buy the tool needed for a specific job rather than waste hours searching to determine if we already had it _somewhere_ .
I can't decide which is better, the fantastic restoration of this jack screw or the exemplary video production. This video and restoration project both approach perfection. Simply amazing!!!!
Никогда бы не отдал такой домкрат никому на восстановление! Сам бы сделал! Лайк. Всё просто замачиваешь такую вещь в солярке на 2 е суток а потом просто берёшь и пользуешься. Такие вещи не ломаются.

Doesn't matter what you restore! It's always a pleasure to watch you work! Nice seeing the CR in the background!👍🏼
Thank you so much :)
I love these. Excellent work
but how they made this
The amount of craftmanship is stunning!

Amazing job.
Ingenious device
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your very kind donation :)
Lovely restoration 😍😍😍
I agree completely. Screw Jack. Might be ninety years old, but there's no excuse. He knows what he did.
The quality and time you take to get everything bang on makes this the best resto channel on UA-cam 👍👍

Looks Virtually bulletproof
Nicely done and kudos for your craftsmanship.

That jack just got jacked up. Outstanding.

Much better In this format....don't always want a 16 part 4 hrs worth of video in a series...excellent work!
Man, dont skip sandblasting, this is the one of the best parts of restoration videos, maybe do a timelapse if its too long
Agreed.
Had one of these in the barn when I was growing up. Grandfather used it all the time!

Great work mate. It was a back to the roots episode. Nice. 👍👍👍😊
Always nice to hear from you, Yeah i thought it would be nice to get back to basics with this one especially after the complexity of the CR250 series.
Nice job you did on restoring the old jack. It looks much better and works like a charm, too. Great work.
Beautiful restoration 👍
It's so nice that Lt. Columbo was able to help you with that restoration 😉
Hello, how always your videos are very satisfactory, there is something that I love, you combine the restoration with the mechanics, greetings from Mexico.
Thank you very much! :)

Super nice job , museum piece at least. Shame the handles always go missing.. I have a few old jacks but never thought of doing what you have done.

I've got one of those Jacks and I still use it today it has a really nice smooth action my one is a 4 tonne capacity
Nice to hear that there are still jacks of this era out there and still in use, they really knew how to build stuff to last back then.

You could restore a pen lid and I'd still be captivated by your work.
Thank you so much :)
A nice way to watch a Scotsman restore an English product on the day of the coronation of King Charles :).. Thank you maestro...
