Let just be clear this is one of the better restorations channels for the fact that he can take someone that is pretty much worthless or desgined to be damaged and turn it in to some art. The fact that he spent that much time fixing the logo is truly awesome. One of these days I might get around to doing something like this just for " because I can " reasons
This is a middle tier skill level for a restoration channel, probably on the better half of the tier. But the cringe levels of workmanship aren't up to the 98% cringless viewing that my mechanics has, as even he cuts corners. My background is in aviation repair so if an overhaul isn't done to the degree of how it should have left the factory, it's cringy. My mechanics has issues with finishing the parts. Kilo has issues with finishing parts, to a lesser degree, and has issues with quality of replacement parts. It's no dig at kilo as there are very few channels that are better, but he hasn't broken out to the levels of my mechanics
Literally the type of Restoration channel I was actually looking for, who uses the old parts and tries the most to repair rather than other restoration channels who just purchase new parts and replace those. I mean that's not restoration . Good luck 🤞
I'm new to your channel, I am not dissapointed with what I see. Seeing the amount of care and respect you give these items you work on, down to the bolt, is just breathtaking. My father taught me a good lesson when I was younger, "if you treat the tools without care, you will be creating future hardships for you". Thank you for the content.
I am an expert on UA-cam tool restoration videos and can confidently say this is the best vice restoration I've seen! Beautiful job mate - thanks for sharing.
I've watched this just again now (only twice in total). There are so many of these sorts of channels now. My Mechanics is obviously the big daddy, but yours is my favourite to date. I enjoy that you restore them not to original condition, but well beyond the point of functionality to be oversized man-shed jewellery. The mirror finishes. Not shiny finishes. Not extremely well polished, but mirror finishes. Totally impractical for a working tool, but who cares. Chip Foose cars aren't daily drivers; they're automotive artistic statements. I mean, just look at those jaws when you're done with them! I love the colour of this finish too. In short, in case you can't tell, I think this is superb!
I'm scared that I'll have to wait another few months just to get another one of you're fantastic restorations vids. Unbelievable content man, keep it up!
@@KILORESTORATION Can live with the wait with the quality of the output. Gotta say, I love the effort you put in when polishing parts, no 100-240 grit then straight to the buffer, gotta got through the 400, 600, 800, 1200 and 2000 first
I picked up a handful of -very- useful techniques and ideas that will help me with a few things I'm in the process of fixing. Stellar video and beautiful restoration! 🍻
You are a Wizard! This restoration is nothing short of remarkable! It turned out so beautiful that it should become a museum piece so that everybody could marvel at your ingenuity and skill from turning a piece of junk into a fine piece of machinery. Absolutely first class job along with fantastic videoing!
Wow this was absolutely delicious! Loving the segment rolling titles, the remarks, the lighting the sound AND your skill. I was hoping you’d remount it at your brother’s workshop as a surprise! (p.s. - you are welcome = you’re welcome)
Man you do amazing work! Your channel is definitely underrated. You should post more videos. With your skills and production quality you would definitely pass the rest of the so called restoration channels.
I don’t think there is anyone on UA-cam that achieves the level of detail or finish that you do. I’ve watched many of those other channels. Hope you can find lots more to work on in the future. It’s especially enjoyable to see the parts that aren’t polished get a mirror-like shine. Thanks for taking the time to do these projects and then put them up for us to see.
I think the jump cuts during the degreasing is my favorite part. Just watching the water turn more and more brown as the parts get cleaner is satisfying to me
I love your videos because there’s a lot more effort that goes into these restorations without a lathe and media blaster, but the end result is just as good.
Not only inspiring and clever, highly entertaining style as well. Love the sense of humour, cat, and the work you do. It's let me into doing similar now so thanks Kilo!
I have watched many vise restorstions but I had very bad luck on this because I saw yours first and you set my expectations very, very high. You are my favorite restoration youtuber, keep it up man! Awesome work, I'm really waiting for more of your videos!
I like how you don't have a huge amount of expensive tools whilst carrying out this fantastic restoration work - gives me realistic inspiration! Although I do look forward to you buying new tools in future videos! Keep up the great work - just discovered you today and binged almost all the videos. Thank you for the good content and the genuine humour.
I have seen many restoration channels in my time. But this man, just have so much attention to every little detail! i love the work man. A new follow from me here in Denmark - Keep up the good work brother
Really good work you did with this restoration project. would have never thought about using washings on the 3 on each side nuts and a very interesting way to make a handle for the vise while not having a lathe as most of these vise restoration UA-camrs have at their disposable.
This vise originally was in good mechanical condition, it hasn't been in a hard use and it was relatively well made. This is the main reason for the success of this restoration. Polishing and the logo restoration were impressive, thank you.
I did a vice a month ago. It’s come out well but not as well as this, I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to cut the 90 year old handle off though. It’s a Record Auto Vice. Beautiful piece of kit.
The SICKEST vise restoration I have seen. I need a vise like this..Wait a minute....I need a shop to put it in...GREAT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't quite understand why the OEM didn't use hardened steel for the handle. They had to know that someone would eventually use a cheater bar on the handle.
Awesome, you really do go to town on these restorations projects. BTW I once applied grease to the conical face on the swivel base, never again, these faces should be clean, you need friction to lock to swivel... But I guess you're trying to prevent rust, on a ornamental vice.
Nice restoration. I've seen this color of hammered paint used now on a couple of vise restorations. I think it's my favorite color! Great job on using what you have and using your drill press to make your new handles. Cool. I'm gonna subscribe for sure! 👍🍻
After watching your videos i was inspired to restore a wood and metal bench. I had the same experience with poly strip pads on a drill - it's useless. I bought an angle grinder with poly strip pads and knotted wire brushes and those 2 worked great to take off the rust.
For not having a lathe or sandblaster, you do really amazing work. I've seen other restorers with many more tools at their disposal, not do nearly the quality restoration work. Much respect!
Hey Deena. When my channel grows a bit more I plan to stop. But right now I’m trying to entice people who have never watched one of my videos to give it a look. I’m sorry if that spoils it for you. I prefer not to do it. But I’m also trying to get my channel to grow enough that I don’t have to. Thanks for the comment !
@@KILORESTORATION I'll look away quickly! Does it really get more people to watch the videos though? Anyway, I'll squint when I see a new vid come up, until after I clicked on play :) ❤
I would not steal from you’re brother if I were you. Judging from that yellow stand in the workshop he has a power armor... Never steal from a guy with a power armor 😌😬

Que trabajo más hermoso. En los tiempos de lo desechable, da gusto encontrarse con gente que valora lo bien hecho. Un gran saludo desde Algarrobo, Chile.
I'm not going to lie. That was fun and enjoyable to watch. Great intro and cinematic composition, love the section titling, and at first I was worried with you choice of handle replacements, but it actually fits the vice very well. Great job on he logo. Too many people try to over "restore" an item and they take the character and life story away. I think you enhanced it very well. Keep up the great work. Your work is appreciated.
I'm four months too late to see this. I know this is a restoration video, which I love to watch in order to get relax at home. But I want to say, I love your cat 😘 nice timing and nice music 😂👍 I subscribe you right now! ❤️
Unmatched attention to detail + occasional comic relief, I love it. Thank you, sir, your work is the quintessential reason UA-cam exists. Glad I found your channel.
My wife just asked me if getting a quonset hut would be a viable option. I literally found your channel today and this is like the third one I’ve watched. Apparently I should get her a Quonset Hut.
Fan friggin tastic. That hammered color is real great on these pieces. Your vids are so satisfying to watch. Love the step down wet sanding and the mirror polish. Beautiful work. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This Old Tony sense of humor + My Mechanics levels of restoration talent. This channel is going places.
Exactly . But no one beats This Old Tony's humor

Man, for some reason, the polished hardware is just so satisfying for me.
Wow. That's one of the most beautiful works of art I have ever seen! I almost couldn't bring myself to use that as a tool ever again.
These videos are some of the only videos that I don't mind watching more than once. It's amazing every time.
I love your videos but my favorite part is the cat. I love the little "pop" when he disappears.
Or when it was loving on the vice lmao, the music.
I started restoring antique axes a few months ago as a hobby and your videos have definitely given me many ideas! Thanks for the great content!

Thank you for showcasing talent versus tools. Nice work. I appreciate you had mainly simple tools, no lathe, etc.
As an avid Doug Demuro fan, THISSSSS, was a welcome surprise

Underrated aspect of these restorations is the camera work. Well done showing off all the nooks and crannies.
That's what I call taking care of your tools...Beautiful...
The SICKEST vise restoration I have seen. I need a vise like this..Wait a minute....I need a shop to put it in...GREAT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great restoration, looks brandnew.
I honestly don't care much for restoration, but I think you're funny. I enjoy your videos; it's relaxing watching you do all the work.
when you cut the rod off it stressed me the hell out, but i will begrudgingly admit the new one you made looks pretty good...
Thanks Daniel! A part of me wanted to leave the original handle on, I admit.
I felt bad too. He could have welded it back together and not have to create a new part.
Downside is; once metal starts bending, even if you straighten it, it weakens the structure and becomes easier to bend again.
I didn't quite understand why the OEM didn't use hardened steel for the handle. They had to know that someone would eventually use a cheater bar on the handle.

You don't leave any stone unturned, so to say. Very meticulous and flawless restoration.
You must be rapidly running out of old rusty things to restore! Jokes aside your channel is quality and I forward to see what you do next.
Excellent Restoration Kilo. We are big fans.
Outstanding work. They say machine stripping paint builds character.
So much attention to detail. You make the tedium fun to watch and the results are astonishing.
the romantic music insert with the cat was perfect. still smiling typing this.
Fabulous. You have the talent and the tools. Show quality restoration.
This is literal art.
There is something incredibly calming about what you do. You do amazing work.
Underrated channel 😓

Absolutely love your restorations! I have an old vise sitting around and I think I’m going to give it a try.
I Legitimately laughed out loud at the "Doug score".
Outstanding! This is some of the best restoration on the Tube! Keep up the quality work!
Just brilliant and hysterical at well.

What number grit abrasive does the cat go up to when honing it's claws?
looks so nice you won't ever want to use it again lol great job sir thank you for sharing
This is gonna be good, not watched it yet but I just know it👍🏻😉
it's seeming like you're right
Good to see you back, Expat Moose! Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Not the most challenging but surely one of the most beautiful vise restoration on youtube. Great color choice.

Oh good.... I'm not the only one...
You did a great job with fairly simple tools and ingenuity. Nice! Got my subscription.

It's not enough that you do such amazing restorations, you had to go and add very high production quality, as well. Ok, I'm hooked.
I love the look of chrome looking metal polish metal and wood that is just plain clear coated not stained. Nothing anybody cares
Man I loved the comedic touch. New favourite channel.
Alright... im gonna be quiet about the stolen vise, but you gotta share some of that change you took from your bro with me hehe :p
I think the best restorations I have ever watched. I'm really amazed.

For paint removal use wire brush on angle grinder. You have no torque/leverage with the drill.
Fantastic work. The fact you do most of it by hand too, with that end result is inspired.
😏Now be a good brother, and return it to your brothers shop!👍
I was REALLY hoping to see him wheel it back over to his brother's shop and put it back in its' place!
Damn, that really was worth it! At first I wasn't liking the paint but when I saw the finished product I loved it. Nice work pal.
Your brother better be thankful you restored that one for him (I assume)
Very relaxing to watch the entire restoration process. Great sir 👍
Leave note for brother on newly restored vice...
"Nice vice. Where'd you get it? 😊."
Lol 😂
So much love and attention. Every video is amazing. Respect.
