FYI the Outputs tab that allows you to add channels (the very first thing you do in this video) is not visible by default in Kontakt 6. I had to go to the top right, click on the Workspace Management button, and enable Outputs.
What up Misha. I followed this for Invasion and it works. Thank you Thank you Thank you ! A little time invested and it sound sooo much better than one stereo track.
For anyone using Invasion and having no sound when using a custom drum map... Cause it took me painful hours to find this *facepalm* Open up Invasion in Kontakt and select the information icon in the top bar where you can select the different drum kits. Go to midi channel and select omni. It was easier to spot with the Matt Halpern pack hah
I think an update is much greatly needed on this. I am having trouble getting things to route correctly. There is no default "Halpern" that I can choose for the host output. So, the entire output of the whole kit is stuck on the same track as my kick. If i attempt to make the first output a main out and label the second as "kick" i get either one of two things: 1 - no output at all, 2 - very quiet output that sounds like the drum is way in another room. The routing for this in cubase is way more complicated than it needs to be and introduces so many issues that need to be resolved. I can't treat my kick alone or it will affect the entire kit.
For all the people that dont have sound: Below the channel volume in contact (set to 0.0 by default) there is channel configuration physical output. by default it is 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8 and goes on. If u have no sound you need to change each channel to 1/2 output - top position click and then most top position on the list. Second position again to second top position on the list. That means top position is your L or R speaker, the second is your other speaker. You should set every channel like that so it shows 1/2 in outputs preview. I don't know if my way of thinking is legit but that's what i came up while trying to get around "no sound" problem. Theres difference in sound devices and that's probably why some of us casuals cannot have sound wihle physical channel set to 45 or above lol.
I use Ableton Live 9 and this video really helped me. Although I was unable to easily route the actual tracks setup as easily as Misha did. All I did was just add tracks within Ableton and go from there.
If he’s sending kick and snare reverbs to the same channels then you want the reverbs to be stereo. If its just the kick and snare with room verbs on other channels then it shouldn’t matter if its mono.
Thank you so much Misha for this tutorial! The only mistake I did (as a Cubase Beginner) was not to use GGD as a Rack-Instrument but as an usual one XD. And I was so desperate this didn't work haha. But thank you for all the awesome products guys!
The last step for me was choosing the right drum map in the "inspector" window of cubase. By default it was "GM Map" and I had to change it to "No Map" or one of the others before I had any sounds. Then you can use the map editor within GGD the map where your individual instruments are.
@@k0z07 If you change Kontakt to channel 10 you can use the GM Map which makes it slightly quicker when working. There's a video where Misha does this, I think it's called something like setting up a drum map with GGD.
