I think this is and intressting idea, but I don't think the HRE had ever a chance to be recreated. That's why the German Empire did so well, for it could easily rule and be the main power over the German States and make them united. The HRE after it's early years was never united fully, and a modern HRE would have to be semi-united or follow in the United States type of thing. Now a united German Empire under the House of Habsburg is something I could see, but again I think it would have to be much eariler for that to happen, but this is a great video man and you did it really well.
I agree. After the HRE fell in 1806, it could only have been revived if the Austrians had won the revolutionary wars and maintained their position as the deciders of the Germans' fate. But I don't think it should have been revived as it would only keep Germany stuck in the Middle Ages. I think there would have been a lot of Nationalist rebellions in the HRE if it had been revived. If it wanted to survive, the HRE would eventually have to become a more unified or central country and perhaps accept the loss of Hungary and Yugoslavia because of it. Don't get me wrong, I love the HRE and the Middle Ages. I'm very proud of that aspect of our history. However I don't see how an HRE would last in the modern world. Not without , as you say, modeling itself after the US to unify the realm while giving some religious and cultural freedoms to the Hungarians and Slavs of the realm, but also focusing more on unifying the German people.
Russia would probably be in a better position to become a western style democracy rather than an absolutist autocracy. Novgorod was itself a bit of a pseudo republic by the time Moscow conquered it. So if all we say is that Muscovy never defeats Novgorod and instead Novgorod beats Muscovy and absorbs it, then we’d probably have a and more democratic Russia that would modernize with the rest of Europe instead of being steeped in serfdom and absolutism which led to the Russian revolution. The clearest way you could accomplish this is by having the novgorodians win the battle of Shelon which put them fully under the Muscovite boot after they originally lost. They probably take a century to consolidate power over all of Muscovite territory and recover but that’s just in time for the reformation, thirty years war, and the deluge in Poland. This offers a pretty interesting scenario considering the Russian state would be much more connected with the renaissance and reformation, and the grand princes and boyars were never close Allies go the orthodox clergy, so maybe a new branch of Protestantism pops up in Russia. However Instead of the Catholics getting a divorce it’s the Orthodox Church and Novgorod. Although I don’t think this scenario is very likely it is interesting to think about, since the state isn’t nearly as intertwined or smitten with the church in this timeline and reformist ideas would be spread much easier. I think at most you see something like what Catherine the great did where the influence of the clergy is reduced and their property holdings reformed along with serfdom as the enlightenment rolls around revolutionizing the country and giving the nation a massive cash injection from the amount of property now distributed to farmers and families no longer as reliant on boyars or priests for their lives. Instead they take a much more independent route and form a mercantile style economy as farming explodes with scientific advancement and with boyars acting more as administers and governors than oppressors with representation being gradually extended in the republic like what occurred in Great Britain with the commons growing in power as the House of Lords slowly declines. The result is a far richer more educated Russia that likely wages wars of expansion during the 1600’s into Finland, Eastern Europe, and Siberia , only this time they’re able to populate it far more effectively without the tsars or communists throwing people into gulags or committing genocides. There would likely still be a civil war at some point with enlightenment ideals driving reform. Maybe it’s over the reform of the church, maybe it’s over the boyars slowly losing power, or maybe it’s for a different reason, but it probably happens nonetheless , but it likely results in a half and half compromise like what happened in the UK with parliament gaining more power as the boyars retain a certain degree of influence in the institutions and their own house. But the end of the story is that Russia is far more populous, far more powerful, and probably enters the late 17 and early 1800’s as a juggernaut alongside the ottomans and British
@@buzter8135 Absolute Monarcho Socialism with Democratic Elections, just like Novgorod in The Roman Empire Megacampaign. They are still led by The Romanovs, who they see as helping the Workers.
I’d say a version in which it’s one united nation would have made for a more interesting scenario, rather than reforming to how it was during the 18th century when it was already long since declined from it’s actual strong state and not instituting an elective monarchy would probably be a better idea, since even allowing it in theory basically cheapens the fighting of the Austrians themselves.

I'll give this video 100 out of 100 for this masterpiece, and I want to see more of it while I continue supporting you. This needs a part two, right one? Does anyone agree with me?
The scenario lacks proper premise. IRL the Straff Expedition was repelled with some effort. And was not so wide attack to push all Italian forces to the coast. Also it is very dubious for Germany to accept all that.
Contrary to the misconceptions, It was not Charlemagne who created it. Historically, the Holy Roman Empire was formed in the 10th century by the Ottonian dynasty, bringing together two of the divisions of the Carolingian Empire defined by the Treaty of Verdun of 843. At the same time as the emergence of the Capetians in West Francia.
Here is an exciting idea for a future alternate history video: What if the Hohenzollern had ruled the Holy Roman Empire during the 17th century with Frederick the Great becoming the new Holy Roman Emperor of the HRE? What if This led to the aftermath of the Silesian Wars and had the elector sates and German principalities, kingdoms, and duchies join Prussia's side who disliked Hpsburg hegemony over the HRE and if what this led Frederick the Great to become the new Holy Roman Emperor and how would the HRE be like under his rule and what would change? What if France had invaded England after the Hundred Years War, with Louis VIII ( 8th) becoming the King of England and successfully occupying the island? With Louis VIII crowned Louis I of England? What would that mean for France's future? Would it have replaced Britain as the dominant naval power, and would there have been a French Empire to replace the British Empire? Which of these ideas do you like best, Mr. Videntis? Which ones are favorites and why?
The idea of the HRE coming together and uniting is an interesting path if history went this way. Like if the HRE actually became a single entity within Europe and became a power house. Only thing is, this nation called Belgium still existing.
One of my favourite alternate histories with some grounding in the eraly history of the HRE. It just was not as dynastically stable as france. However if this truly happened the HRE would have become the european hegemon which would have been immediately involved in wars to put it down.

A return to border gore, just as God would want. But one area which I think needed mentioning was religion. The protestant north would be a constant pain for the catholic south, and potentially causes the empire to internally fracture the same way it did during the Reformation in the 1520s. If the Habsburgs tried enforcing Catholicism, especially with the Papacy’s power increased and holding sway over governance, independence and restoration of the German Empire would likely grow into a full fledged movement in the northern states.
After Charlemagne was crowned holy Roman emperor the byzantines found out and were pissed off because they believed they were the continuation of Rome. It's quite fascinating that two styles of Rome existed at the same time, the Byzantine empire which was the continuation of Rome and the holy Roman empire which was located in Europe. The reason I am saying that the Byzantine empire was a continuation of Rome was one king of the original Rome had two sons he split the kingdoms between his two sons Eastern Byzantine and Western OG. Sadly we all know that Western Rome fell but Eastern Rome was still alive and proud for the 300 years that continued the traditions until the pope thought it was a bright idea to screw over the entire Byzantine empire, so they did try to invade Europe but were pushed back.
Sorry but no. That treaty of Bucharest is all wrong. Romania would not have stood down if it was not compensated with Bessarabia. What's with that? Otherwise the video was nice!
Good video. Given how Austria was in a Powerhouse-Situation at that point, I highly doubt the Soviets would come to power directly in Russia. Karl would sue for a separate peace with the Tsar (or some sort of white army; who knows at this point) to prevent ungodly communism.

Everything unrealistic in this vid: 1. It's unlikely that the Entente would allow the dismantling of Italy if they lost to Austria. The Entente powers, such as France and Britain, were not interested in seeing their allies weakened or dismembered. They would likely negotiate for terms that preserved Italy's territorial integrity, albeit possibly with some concessions depending on the circumstances of the peace negotiations. 2. Keeping austria would not make serbia and the balkan allies happy as they wanted to unite under nationalism 3. Why did germany get that much land even though the bolsheviks made peace early and didnt do the trosky no war no peace strategy they might just gain poland and some baltic lands 4. Germany invading switzerland is unlikely as they never got usa into the war and the eastern front ended early around 1916 so -2 more years
Yeah, it’s not realistic. It’s not supposed to be. I can’t think of a “realistic” way for the HRE to be revived. This was more of a fun thought experiment

Austria is always peak I love Austria I love the HRE and I love the Habsburgs
Everything unrealistic in this vid:
2. Keeping austria would not make serbia and the balkan allies happy as they wanted to unite under nationalism
3. Why did germany get that much land even though the bolsheviks made peace early and didnt do the trosky no war no peace strategy they might just gain poland and some baltic lands
Still a better timeline than now.
amazing
Any timeline where France gets some land on top of Alsace Lorraine is a good timeline.
