Although it's Interesting to imagine Napoleon Wining the Franco-Prussian War, i find it quite unlikely though This was Probably the Most 'Realistic' Scenario. and as a Napoleonboò i 100% want a Part II NOW.

I love this one, my only concern/complaint is the possibility that Bismarck would double down not once, not twice but thrice. Remember this was the man who made considerable diplomatic efforts before, during and after a war against Denmark, DENMARK. Needless to say it seems this scenario hinges not just on French competence but also on Prussian incompetence. But needless to say, I’ll take a based scenario of the second battle of Waterloo and second battle of the Nile, any day.

Yes I think Britain would have threatened France of intervention if the didn't stop pushing and not sign a peace deal Wallonia + Luxembourg and minor territory in the rhine would be realistically the most France could get
0:26 Otto von Bismarck didn‘t want to encircle France by placing a Hohenzollern on the spanish throne. The Spanish asked the prussian prince to take the throne, so it was the other way around.
My only complaint is the notion Bismarck would have continued supporting such a flailing war, or started one against a France that had prepared as well as the one in this scenario. Otherwise, well done.

I have three words for this, Mr. Videntis. That. Was. Incredible! Making Napoleon III more like his great uncle, Napoleon I, really proves Napoleon III was a capable leader in his own right by modernizing the army to follow the Prussian Army tactics and placing content and moderate military leaders who understand modern ware. What he did in this alternate timeline was actually the ones who baited Bismarck to make his move, and the Prussians fell right into the French's hands. Speaking of Bismarck, this led Wihilem I, King of Prussia and not German Emperor of Germany, to go all out towards Bismarck and call him a fat idiot at 12:25, an excellent meme for a scene edit. Napoleon III offered Wihilem the First of Prussia peace terms to end the war. Still, Bismarck was the one who "urged" the King of Prussia to refuse the peace terms, which resulted in many Prussian soldiers and civilian causalities. This would leave Bismarck the despised Chancellor of Prussia, and most likely, he might be heated for it in the first place. I wonder how Bismarck would take the insult from the King of Prussia, calling him an idiot. And I did not expect other German states to side with Austria, such as Bavaria, Baden, Saxony, Hesse, which became allies to the French, which was a big surprise to me, for I was wondering why France did not have many allies in the Franco-Prussian War. Napoleon IV married Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom, an intelligent choice because it was an excellent way for France to end the hostility and tension over centuries and bring them closer to a union. France would rather have the United Kingdom of Great Britain as an ally instead of an enemy because they could both benefit from the economic rewards and trade agreements to their desire and could give away some parts of Africa the British wanted. @@Videntis.History your welcome, also why does Italy have rome in the end? I thought you said that Empress Eugene sends an army to fortify the papal states?
A fine example of uchronia that almost came true and could have changed the history of France, Europe and the world. If two Biarrot fishermen had not saved in 1865 from drowning during a swim in the ocean the Prussian chancellor Bismarck who accompanied the imperial couple Napoleon III and Eugenie in holiday in Biarritz, Bismarck being drowned, he could not therefore have tampered with the dispatch of Ems in July 1870 which provoked France to declare war on Prussia, so that there would not have been the war of 1870, no unification of Germany around Prussia so that Germany would not exist and would have remained divided into several states, France remained dominant power on the European continent, would have retained Alsace-Moselle, so no World War I, neither the Treaty of Versailles nor the Second World War. Napoleon III would have abdicated in favor of his son Napoleon IV with a second empire strengthened by the triumphal plebiscite of May 1870 evolving towards a constitutional monarchy, so that in the absence of military defeat at Sedan in 1870, the republic would not have been proclaimed in France and probably we would be living now with a descendant ruler or family of Napoleon III.One can add that France would have expanded from Luxembourg that the king of the Netherlands wanted to sell to Napoleon III, The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was opposed by Bismarck, generating a European crisis resolved by English mediation with the creation of a new independent state in 1867 which would not have existed. Finally, in the absence of French military defeat, France would not have been obliged to pay Prussia a colossal war indemnity of 5 million francs or so and would thus have had the budgetary means to buy back in 1875 the 50% of the shares of the Khedive of Egypt in the Suez Canal thus becoming the 100% of the company of the Suez Canal while in 1875 it was the English who bought the shares of the khedive thus entering the company of the Suez Canal to 50% on equal with France, before taking control of "Egypt in 1882. Thus, France controlling 100% of the Suez Canal and consequently the new trade route of India, threatening British trade, it is likely that the English who had already tried to sabotage the construction of the Suez Canal, would have gone to war against France in order to take control of the Suez Canal and block French colonial expansion into eastern Africa, the Franco-English War that nearly broke out in 1898 during the Fachoda incident.after the declaration of war between France and Prussia, the two Biarrot fishermen publicly regretted not letting Bismarck drown. How an excess of humanity can be harmful to the national interest and world peace!
This is a very interesting scenario, France foreseeing its dreams of getting the rhine, Austria gaining back silesia and much more. I do have a video idea that is very interesting and I don’t think anyone has done. What if the first Bulgarian empire taken Constantinople?
Another great video, thanks! On a side note the French were Collared and Leashed by The City of London and Bank of England after Napoleon lost and they have used France like a dog in their Imperial Ambitions and placed rulers there to ensure they obey so any rise of power in France especially to this degree would force the British to stymy such goals before they blossom and if they did for whatever reason they would come into direct conflict with the British Empire.
Another great video! It needs a part 2 EDIT: Polish title would have been(if you want to add it) Co by było gdyby Francja wygrała wojnę Francusko-Pruską?
This needs a part two, like right now, for this incredible masterpiece, Mr. Videntis. It would make sense for Napoleon IV to marry Princess Beatrice, for they were almost wedded in our current timeline, and he was respected by the British royal family, nobility, and widespread folks. I think Napoleon IV chose to have a strong tie with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and prefer focuses on the modernization of France by making the Second French Empire an industrial power with the Rhine Land as the crown jewel of the French Empire and France would make Africa into part of France by integration, encouraging French people to move him in the settlements, and establishing cities. I know you said you like the idea of the Danish HRE because it is fun, but what do you think about the idea of France and the UK form the European Union in the 1880s as a way to restore the Holy Roman Empire with the Kingdom of Denmark ruling an restore HRE? It would been interesting since the Danish Royal Family did marry into the British Royal Family because Alexandra of Denmark was the daughter of Christain IX of Denmark. But what Hanover because George V lost the throne because the Prussians invaded his kingdom from the current timeline, but this timeline with George V resonated and became Pro-French, an ally to Imperial France and relative to the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha that would soon later become the House of Windsor. For Part Two on "What if FRANCE won the Franco-Prussian War?" What if Hanover forms a union with the Bonaparte to show gratitude for restoring George V of Hanover to his throne? What if Hanover becomes a potential candidate to lead a revived Holy Roman Empire? What if this France under the Bonaparte Dynasty took part in restoring the Holy Roman Empire to restore the balance of power in Europe and seek out making new relationships with the former enemies from the Napoleonic War? France would be better under the Bonaparte Dynasty because France would have become a mega-industrial titan similar to the UK with the right potential and model itself into a constitutional monarchy similar to the United Kingdom and follow the Napoleonic Code and the ideals of the French Revolution. What do you think of that idea for part two of "What if FRANCE won the Franco-Prussian War?", Mr. Videntis? Any thoughts, comments, and opinions about this idea? And what do you think of an interesting scenario? What if Napoleon II had become the Holy Roman Emperor of a restored Holy Roman Empire with Austria to reunite Germany but more centralized? Had Napoleon II lived longer, what would a revived Holy Roman Empire or a united Germany be like under his reign as Emperor or Kaiser? What do you think, Mr. Videntis? What is your take on a Napoleonic Germany or HRE?
IMO it would be far more plausible if France win the war by making secret agreement with Russia (e.g. by apologizing for Crimean war, sending lavish gifts, and promise to side with Russia in the future war against the Ottomans) and Italy, and also galvanizing Prussia's previous enemies (e.g. Austria, Denmark) to attack Prussia, all at the same time. Considering how the French actually performed in the war, such easy battlefield victories against Prussia/Germany, as depicted in this video, is IMO *highly unlikely.* Prussian/German military completely outclassed that of France in virtually all aspects, from strategic level, generalship, mid-level leadership, to initiative by individual units. Indeed, only divine intervention could save France/Napoleon III from total defeat.
It's almost laughable to suggest that Trochu's calls to reform were ignored. His 1867 book is simply a paraphrase of a secret report produced by the military commission Napoleon III appointed himself after the 1866 war. The Emperor knew exactly what had to be done to reform the army to match Prussia but could not get it through the legislature. Figuring out how he could have convinced the French to accept conscription was the whole problem. Fundamentally, he could not portray himself as a moderate reformer (''L'Empire Libéral'') like he did to preserve his popularity in the 60's and force through in the same breath an extremely unpopular law that'd double the size of the armed forces. With this in mind I think a coalition strategy was the only sound path to victory: -Alliance treaty with Italy and Austria in 1869, which nearly happened IRL. -No offensive war, force Bismarck to bear the responsibility for the conflict. It's quite possible there would have been no war at all in that scenario. -The Emperor does not lead the army. The man was nearly on his death bed and completely impotent in 1870. Realistically Leboeuf, MacMahon or Canrobert were the only ones that could have done a reasonable job as commander-in-chief.
In a strange way a divided Germany means tne balance in Europe remains inact and vital that their must be multiple german nation states in order for the balance in Europe to remain intact.
Princess Beatrice would be a great match for Napoleon IV I think though that France and Britain would equally divide Africa. With the German Empire not existing and Prussia kept out to receive any colonies, maybe Denmark, Flanders and the Netherlands could receive some of the colonies previously went to Germany in the OTL? Maybe Denmark would receive modern day Togo? Cameroon or Namibia could be going to either Flanders and/or the Netherlands while Tanzania would be equally divided between Britain and France? Maybe the Netherlands receive a small part of South-Africa where most of the Boers lived?
Although i must disagree with queen Victoria’s notion that a wedding between the English and French royal houses would lead to a lasting peace. This kind of intermingling of royal blood led to the One Hundred Years War 😛
In terms of the marriage of Napoleon IV, Princess Beatrice would be the obvious choice as a means of maintaining diplomatic and dynastic relations with the British
16:48 I think that Napoleon IV would (and will) marry the Austrian archduchess Gezela Louise Marie beacuse he already has an alliance with the Austrians and so he doesn't want to lose his alliance with the Austrian Empire by marrying princess Beatrice of Great Britian...
I loved this one improvement though is the peacedeal felt to harsh as I feel Britain would never alow a basically partitioning and balkanizing of a country so useful for keeping the major powers from dominating central europe
I personally feel that Libya would have been a nice token to the British after their incredibly aggressive move into Egypt, I don’t think any amount of good will lets Britain just let Egypt go
no you are misunderstanding, they didnt have any control in egypt until they bought the suez shares, so here they never bought the shares meaning france kept control their
One important weakness of this scenario: the lack of independent Poland. Author says almost nothing about Poland and its aspirations after the partitions inthe end of XVIII century, after insurections...

need part 2
I somehow can't see the Brits allow the French to just take Egypt with the canal
They didn’t have much say in Egypt until they bought the Suez shares. Here, they never bought them so I think it’s possible
@@Videntis.History well I don't, as my avatar suggests I might be just slightly biased but I can't see Leopold giving away Wallonia just like that especially that he didn't have absolute power
Giving ? he don't have a choice at all and Wallonia people Rattachisme movement would make sure of it@@lordoftheworld29
As a francophone, this is the best timeline ever
I liked this uchronia, I would like it to have a second part. Greetings Videntis History 👋
Going into Belgium probably draws Britain into the war
Russia sighting “internal unrest” was legendarily stereotypical Russian
a very interesting scenario, if you don't mind I have an idea for you: what if Philip II of Spain had a son with Mary I of England?
Correction: Mary the 1st
@@alfieingrouille1528 yes, sorry.
Well written. As someone from Wallonia this is nightmare fuel. X')
Great video! Would love to see a fictional scenario where sweden won the great northern war, or if the swedish king didn't die in Norway and made a comback. Cheers!
This randomly came out of my recommendation page and i love it!! Your maps is absolutely beautiful and it earned my subscription and like.
Thanks so much, welcome to the channel. I hope you enjoy my other stuff
@@Videntis.History your welcome, also why does Italy have rome in the end? I thought you said that Empress Eugene sends an army to fortify the papal states?
Vive la France et merci à vous pour cette magnifique vidéo!
U have to make an video to show us how u make ur map animation ( it's soo good)
Unless it u don't want someone to “steal" it or something
I’m not worried about that but I don’t think it would perform well
@@Videntis.History well many people will love that
But after all It is up to you
best alt history channel i see
Not even 45 seconds in and he has history wrong.
Good start. Gives me lots of faith.
I take back what I said this video was fun to watch still. 😊
What if Justinian had been succeeded by Justin son of Germanus (not to be confused with Justin II son of his sister)
We need 8k likes! Subbed. Amazing video.
Another great video! It needs a part 2
EDIT: Polish title would have been(if you want to add it)
Co by było gdyby Francja wygrała wojnę Francusko-Pruską?
Agreed
This timeline is worse!
Make a england video already!!!
As a fellow French, I absolutely do not agree ! ;p
Agreed, too much froufrouness
worth it as long as the prussians lose.
In the second part Napoleon IV should start a Crusade to recover Jerusalem and the Holy Land, as the Pope is his godfather and is a fervent Catholic.
Nice Video! Maybe a bit cursed XD
I seen this scenario a few times now but I always say I believe WW1 still happens just with different teams and ambitions
Banger after BANGER! You're amazing🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🔥
@@Videntis.History np
With this in mind I think a coalition strategy was the only sound path to victory:
-Alliance treaty with Italy and Austria in 1869, which nearly happened IRL.
Huge fan of your work! Love this scenario! Suggestion: What if Bavaria united germany?
I still can’t believe you only have this many subs #Videntisisunderrated
In a strange way a divided Germany means tne balance in Europe remains inact and vital that their must be multiple german nation states in order for the balance in Europe to remain intact.
Princess Beatrice would be a great match for Napoleon IV
I think though that France and Britain would equally divide Africa.
The real question is - what happened to Bismarck afterwards?
5:38 a modern army under the command of a 14 yo ? I think not
Yes effectively
Please make a part 2 for your WW1 german victory scenario
Although i must disagree with queen Victoria’s notion that a wedding between the English and French royal houses would lead to a lasting peace.
This kind of intermingling of royal blood led to the One Hundred Years War 😛
We probably get the Second Hunrderd Year War lol! They never learn.
I’d be happy, but I just can’t accept the Bonapart’s legitimacy with the Bourbons still around.
In terms of the marriage of Napoleon IV, Princess Beatrice would be the obvious choice as a means of maintaining diplomatic and dynastic relations with the British
A part 2 about how Denmark unites Germany would be interesting.
I personally feel that Libya would have been a nice token to the British after their incredibly aggressive move into Egypt, I don’t think any amount of good will lets Britain just let Egypt go
no you are misunderstanding, they didnt have any control in egypt until they bought the suez shares, so here they never bought the shares meaning france kept control their
defenitly needs a part two
Part 2 please 🙏
One important weakness of this scenario: the lack of independent Poland. Author says almost nothing about Poland and its aspirations after the partitions inthe end of XVIII century, after insurections...
I explained Poland with the Russian invasion
I have only one question: why prussia is not in the German confederation?
