Honestly by stirring up things in the Baltic region, all Russia achieves is to bring the countries surrounding the Baltic (sans Russia), closer together and ensure both governments and populations willingness to spend even more on aid to Ukraine as well as strengthening of defense and cooperation among these countries. If you’re concerned about your privacy then paying for a service like incogni isn’t exactly going to do that for you. I’d argue it will effectively do the opposite. You have to provide them with even more personal info so they can make the take down requests on your behalf. Then you have to trust that they’re not going to use your data maliciously AND you have to trust they’re actually making the takedown request AND that they’re even making them properly. Even if a takedown request doesn’t go through I believe they may be incentivized to lie. Don’t trust big corporations. End of story.

"Nato chipped away...." ususally something from Russia. This time the influence in the baltic. This wording does not convey that the actions of Russia in Ukraine brought Finnland and Sweden to apply for NATO Membership. The only power limiting Russias influence in the baltic in that regard is Russia itself by its questionable actions, which led neutral countries to seek shelter under the umbrella of NATO.

Can you do me a favor and search in youtube for "Jeffrey Sachs - How the US Provoked the Invasion of Ukraine ". This might change your perspective.
Russia is not the aggressor here, ask yourself which countries caused most misery in the world?
Nato bombed north africa in the 2010s, they bombed Iraq, afghanistan etc etc. And dont come with the bullcrap that they do it for democracy and freedom. Funny how they want to install this system in every resource rich country. Who has 100s of bases far away from their country? oh its usa. You cannot expect peace when planting 100s of bases everywhere, like comeon man. They are actually highly intelligent to maintain such a vast and big country without it getting split. Look at US, texas wants independence and guy becomes girl based on their feelings.
Russia has lost the information war bigtime, but the real deal is different.
Also, to broaden your perspective about this issue, check out "The other side documentary" just released, a brittish journalist going to the Russia side to show things. Before you judge based on the media you see everyday research for your own facts. Im not saying Russia is perfect but its pretty obvious they got provoked into this. Biden wants to start ww3 before he leaves, hence agreeing to allow Ukraine to use missiles inside Russia.

Russian political thought centers on zero-sum thinking. Your enemy's gain is your loss.
As a consequence, it's almost impossible to have win-win deals with Russia, because any win for the other party counts as a loss for Russia.
Also, doing harm to others is a gain for Russia, in their minds.

Honestly Russian geography sucks ass and explains their “hostile, belligerent, expansive” foreign policy.
They might look menacing, but in reality Russia is incredibly vulnerable in a conventional war. With that being said, it’s only vulnerable in the modern world because of its imperial aspirations, if it was content with being a middle power (i.e France/UK with nuclear weapons to deter any would be aggressor and focused on improving its economy by actually utilizing its vast natural resources, it could have been considered a great power, but instead the lunatic in the kremlin reduced it to a shithole.

    • @LancesArmorStriking
      @LancesArmorStriking Місяць тому +4

Your view of Russia is honestly delusional. On all counts.
For one, its vulnerability is also an asset- nobody thus far (besides the Mongols) successfully occupied all of Russia with brute force. Any invading army would get stretched to breaking, whether by land or air.
Secondly- Russia TRIED to become a second power, a large force within the sphere of Europe.
Right after the USSR, Yeltsin showed almost comical eagerness to play along with the US geopolitically.
How was this kindness repaid? By sending US Treasury employees to Moscow to liberalize its economy and completely destroy any quality of life from the USSR. That meant hyperinflation, collapse of institutions, and a complete selloff of state assets.
Before you say that it was inevitable, Poland was put under the same 'transition' program, but was given different parameters which conspicuously led to stabilization and enrichment. Why did they insist that Russia privatize EVERYTHING, when Poland had been allowed to keep its courts and state-run companies intact just a few years earlier?
It was malice. Kicking the enemy while he was down.
Russia learned a difficult but valuable lesson: America is an ill-intentioned country.
Acting "normally" by abiding by the rules doesn't work when they're actively trying to make your standing in the world worse- that means domestically, too.
Had the USSR not spread communism, the US would still have tried to sabotage it, because it simply doesn't like peer competitors in any area.
Lastly- Putin inherited a shithole from Yeltsin. Go watch old videos of the breadlines and empty grocery stores that resulted from capitalism entering Russia.
Or just ask any Russian over 40. They'll gladly tell you what life was like under "Gorby" and his drunken successor.
You might not like his authoritarianism, but he inarguably improved the quality of life within Russia. If that makes you mad, ask yourself why.

    • @aritakalo8011
      @aritakalo8011 Місяць тому +2

Yes and no. for example Gulf of Finland. couple nautical miles means nothing, when Russian fleet has to sail 150 miles along Finnish coast. Both Estonian coast and Finnish coast have ability to dominate the gulf with pretty basic coastal defense missiles. Nothing fancy. Truck mounted RBS-15, Harpoon etc. pretty basic and by now decades old tech. Launchers which as regards to the ships are hiding in massive ground clutter of the coast. No way the ships know where the missiles might be until ones launch.
Plus there is this thing called naval mine. Any stuff starts up in baltic, Finland will truck out their naval mines stockpile and blockade the Russian end of Gulf of Finland with naval mine fields. That was the working plan in WWII and given geography having not changed its still the plan. Naval mine fields blockade the whole gulf, over watched by coastal missile launchers, which will sink any minesweepers trying to come to clear a path through the mine field. Oh and all out war at Finlands Eastern border ofcourse, but like that was always the scenario. Now it's just with "oh NATO has maybe time to spare some reinforcements for us at some point" addition. St. Petersburg is a non issue. it is geographically blocked. Worry more about Kaliningrad, it has more direct open sea access.
Not that we Finns will agree to single meter of undue border changes. That border line has been mapped and haggled decades ago after WWII peace negotiations.

The truth is that the baltic sea is losing relevance and importance to Russia as time goes on. Global warming have melted the majority of ice in north pole which opens up a gigantic shore where Ru can build up new sea routes. 15:09 "Russia doesn't just redraw maps, it redraws rules." Well, to be frank, we, the West, have been redrawing rules for years. I mean, we always speak of the "rules-based order", but we actually mean our rules, and on our orders.
So, let's tone down the bias. Because... Well, let's use a bit of nuance, here. Do you know which country military intervened or invaded the most other sovereign countries during the last 3 decades? It isn't Russia or China - the countries we, the West, like to categorize as "warmongering". No. It's the US. This is a fact, you can look it up yourself, if you want. The US invaded or military intervened in: Grenada, Nicaragua, Libya (twice), Panama, Honduras, Colombia, Iraq (twice), Somali, Sudan, Afghanistan (twice), Serbia, Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Syria, etc., etc. It waaaay outweighs what any other country has done in the last 30 years, and then I'm not even counting the interventions "by proxy". So, it's all good and well to now tout our moral superiority, but if you really look into it, we're extraordinary hypocritical in this, and really have no standing to lecture others.
And, yes, if our governments see no qualms in invading other sovereign countries, then so may other countries decide the same. You can't just apply "international law" selectively, and punish others if they do it, but not if we do it ourselves.
So. If we remain consistent, then: if we can redraw the rules, then so can another.

      Because strategy.
Both of these countries are easly crushed by any major power, simply by blockading them.
China need a lot of Oil from the Middle East, and send their exports on the same naval way.
The problem is, that they don't have any real naval control, and their opponents can blockade one naval straight and bleed Chinese economy out.
They also locked up by a naval chain, unable to do any military operation freely, and there is an unsinkable carrier (Taiwan) in their doorsteps.
In the case of Russia, it has 4 Naval exit, all locked up. Black Sea fleet is controlled by Turkey alone. Baltic Fleet by Norway, Denmark, Poland, and now even Sweden Finland etc. Pacific fleet locked up by Japan and South Korea. And the North Fleet is by USA Canada and the UK.
In the case of Ukraine, they controled the most important naval port, on the northern coast of the Black Sea, has many resource, good industry, AND (which also true to Taiwan) if the Russian (or Chinese) realize, that Ukraine (Taiwan) there able to work as a modern, democratic European (Or should I call it "West") state, then the autocratic corrupt systems of Russia (China) would also fall.
In short: To keep your system, you need outside enemies to blame. To be capable against those enemies, you need strategic geopolitical locations, which can control your whole economy. To get those, you made more enemies, who join up with your already made enemies.
