I did something similar using angle iron from an old bed frame to support the spare tire winch. Mine is mounted toward the front of the trailer with just a bit of the tire showing behind the house batteries. We moved the spare because we added a cargo box to the bumper to carry our generator.

How did you reinforce the bumper on the 22MLE? We have the same unit.
We welded 2 small plates to better connect bumper to frame. Look in this video at the 1:16 time point to see.
