  • This is part of our RV maintenance series. We have a 2017 Keystone Montana 3661RL fifth wheel. To save space in the bathroom they installed a pivot door which opens partway into the bathroom and the rest of the way into the hallway.
Our pivot door was not operating properly. It made noises and squeaks when we used it and during a trip it fell out of the track and caused our door to swing around. The issue is that they used a rubber bushing with threads to secure the truck to the door and over time it wears out. In this video we show you the problem and then our fix, which involved a 1/4x20 1 & 3/4” Stainless flat headed machine screw, a 1/4x20 stainless nut, and one 1/4x20 stainless lock nut. All told the repair costs under $5.

Thank you for posting the two videos about the pivot door. We have been battling with the hardware for nearly a year and after watching your videos, we had it fixed in 15 minutes! Thanks again.

I have the same problem. I bought a nut from the local hardware store to put at the top of threaded stud but it wouldn’t clear the internal screw heads that attach the track to the door header. When I got home I ground it pretty much to half the original thickness with my belt sander. & installed it with no problems. However the nut, due to road vibration, worked it loose on my next trip. I just went to WalletMart and bought a tube of blue Lock-tight& coated the nut and shaft that goes through trolley. So far so good. Hopefully it’ll hold till I get home, if not I’m trying your fix next!!!
