Its disappointing to have bands like gojira be considered as heavy as they are when you have this. It's not even a comparison. Closest easily is Feared.
Damn. ObZen has steadily climbed into my list of top Metal albums of all time. Every track is a crushing monster. Takes production to a level like never before too.
+SuperExio different mix is think... There is more bass mixed in live from what I've heard. And when Jens delivers live there is more emotion than on the tracks imo
Ooooo dude yeah I reckon hey. If anything im going to say sane off chaosphere. Where jens screams “saaaaaaaaaane meeeeeeee” over the whole course of the bars toward the end. Those palm mutes for their time were absolutely ferocious and still are. I’d love to hear that live now with this sound and mixing. I’ve seen them twice and they fuckin absolutely destroy it live it’s insane. Tight as.
This song is so ridiculously hard to play on drums. I can get most of the way through and then the bloody breakdown at 4:08 is impossible. Your feet and hands do NOT want to coordinate. Alot of their other 4/4 stuff is doable if you listen to it enough and force your feet to follow the guitar rhythms but I cannot get this breakdown sorted. How they write this stuff let alone perform it perfectly boggles my mind!
the guitars are no different. you either need a team of NASA physicists to make sense of the rhythm or be a hand-standing marathon runner to get through it without pulling a fucking muscle lol. one of their simplest songs to wrap your head around and remember is also the most exhausting thing i've ever tried playing. i guess there's a reason that Bleed is usually the song that anyone who started listening to the band since it was released is what got them into the band. that shit is fucking mind blowing. i give it a go every day just trying to get the muscles used to it, but it's pretty slow going. i always feel so confident when i start playing it because when it starts to hurt it hits you like a truck, it's not a slow build up at all lol. one second you're like oh yeah dude i got this shit and the next second you're digging through the ice tray in the freezer for a makeshift ice pack to ease the swelling from the several blood vessels in your picking arm and shoulder that exploded all at once. then there's shit that you could play for hours on end without stopping and, in fact, you HAVE to play it for hours on end because you fuck it up every four seconds trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. vildhjarta does that shit all the time too, it's the only other band that makes me blow a fuse after like two hours just from trying to learn another eight seconds of one of their songs. sometimes you wind up spending so much time and effort trying to solidify one hurdle than you subconsciously purge like two or three other prior hurdles that you've successfully overcome like your brain did an emergency defrag and system clean up to get of nonessential functions so that the vital functions don't get corrupted and your organs forget how to function. it'll probably kill me one day. some kind of stroke or whatever. i'm cool with it though, it's satisfying as hell when you finally nail it down. i've played a lot of different genres over the past couple of decades but none of it has felt as rewarding and fun to play as this sort of shit.
It's been 3 years I hope now you can play this song correctly, in my opinion the 4:08 isn't a big deal, I could play it after listening the song a few times. But playing the 1:52 - 2:27 part while my left foot is marking the 4/4 tempo with the hi-hat its imposible :c
4:08 breakdown is insane. Meshuggah is so good at bringing super heavy rift like that, then 4:25 arrives where they basically say, fuck palm muted chord, lets fuckin play this open it's gonna be worse! They do similar approach in dance to a discordant system at one point and it makes the song just crazier and heavier.
It's literally impossible to not headbang at 5:33. I've listened to Electric Red at least 800 times, and never, I didn't headbang, even in public places.
I get constantly amazed. Seriously, every fucking week I'll have a couple of moments when I listen to Meshuggah (I don't do it all the time) and something just totally blows my mind. Like an implosion in my brain that makes me wanna move spasmatically. They're orgasmic.
The dynamic shift to the quieter breakdowns in this song is so fucking clever, I think those sections are Meshuggah's most underrated riff. The way the light show fits into it is spellbinding too.
The fact that they always sound like they were in studio (and sometimes better than if they were in the studio) it's something to considerate. Goddamn!
That's so cool how the lighting is synced to the song. The part starting at 3:35 has that white flash synced to that octave note, watching them in concert must put you into a hypnotic state.
Meshuggah has many more breakdowns that are sick even from the times they were influenced by the thrash metal scene. Check out the breakdown from Abnegating Cecity from their Contradiction Collapse album. That song has a breakdown pretty similar to Domination.
ANYONE SAW THAT CHINA CYMBAL OF TOMAS IN THE 1:07 IS FALL??? IF YOU SEE AT THE BEGINING OF THE SONG IT'S FINE, BUT THE REST OF THE SONG NO ONE PUT IN PLACE THE FUCKING CYMBAL... HE REPLACES THAT WITH A CRASH (I THINK IT'S A RIDE BUT HE USES LIKE A CRASH) AND THE STACK CYMBAL. OH SHIET BOY!!!!!!!
maybe, and i am not joking, the best metal band of the moment. fuckin intense band, the drumer and bassist are like messi and ronaldo comparing to soccer
5:44 Jens torsobanging to the odd time riff while the guitarists headbang to the underlying even time. Beautiful
I come back just to see it on the regular. 👌🏾
So f$&!! Heavy! Moves mountains!
the only band i know that can make a live show sound like the damn album. their sound guy is top notch
Everybody overlooks how astonishingly poetic are the lyrics for every meshuggah song and electric red is no exception
That's what I repeat every time to my wife who doesn't understand why I love Meshuggah besides ofc the chugs and the grooves
Hi. Please check out drum transcription of this song ua-cam.com/video/ydTyZJ-SiWw/v-deo.html
INDEEEEDDDD
@@blasteffect19HELL YESSSSS
Exactly dog it’s the poetic aspects that make it even more insane and metal
No other band comes close IMO.
Closest is gorguts.
In this genre i agree
Car bomb for off beat stuff for sure
@@juggernautproduktion fkn love car bomb man.

my room is shaking...and i'm wearing headphones
4:25 My God that energy just opens up, even the bass player be lookin up like...sensory overload!
why do the live versions sound soooooo good?? don't get me wrong, I love all of their albums, but the live versions sound soo badass
+SuperExio different mix is think... There is more bass mixed in live from what I've heard. And when Jens delivers live there is more emotion than on the tracks imo
@Ian yes, the mix in the album is pretty flat
YAAAAAAAAAAAA
Jens Kidman is absolutely incredible. his headbanging is the hardest I've ever seen.
He headbangs with his whole body
Seriously tremendous
I wish they played the outro longer live so we would get to hear that nice snare roll he does on the album version.
+Cheer Girl Rampage I was thinking the exact same thing!
A flam then single stroke roll...good shit fam.
Such short roll makes a huge difference, it certainly is the trademark of the song (along with the groovy outro, just love it!)
I love this song. This is the kind of stuff that could move planets out of orbit.
Ten years later and this still grooves harder than most of the shit out there.
it should be a crime for a song to be this good
Holy shit, that outro! They even head-bang in polyrhythm
5:35 the heaviest Meshuggah riff of all time
Change my mind
end of Duhuminization still heavier imho
Ooooo dude yeah I reckon hey. If anything im going to say sane off chaosphere. Where jens screams “saaaaaaaaaane meeeeeeee” over the whole course of the bars toward the end. The 5/4 breakdown toward the end of Pravus; at about 3:45. Or the entire song "The Demon's Name is Surveillance."
Personae non gratae 0:45
the difference in heaviness between their least heavy to most heavy riff is only about 5% anyway.
Nothing can beat Spasm
5:33 till the end is hard as fuck. Absolute monster of a riff.
Seriously if I ever get in a moshpit during that outro riff I might accidentally kill someone
That polyrhythumic goodness at 3:15. Haake goes off!
Jens is incredible!

after listening to this song a million times on the bus to and from uni for a month, I can play this on guitar finally lol.
This is why Haake is jebus.
Meshuggah is so advance in keeping a straight tempo that one day they might open a time vortex while rehearsing
We are all here for that 5:34 riff ! Brutal !
Those 8 strings make me have to change my pants.
7d7e7f7 6 years later and I bet you’re still changing them. This band is the craziest shit

Vinzours Yes, that riff is a fucking spine splitter.
I read this comment a year ago and to this day I can still attest it quite literally is impossible to not headbang unless you’re a robot.
yea but i cant decide if i wanna headbang to the even beat like the guitarists or to the riff like Jens does
Hi. Please check out drum transcription of this song ua-cam.com/video/ydTyZJ-SiWw/v-deo.html
One of my favourite clips on the internet ever...
This is one of the heaviest and best performances from Meshuggah.
You sir, deserve fifty internets for that eloquent statement. Almost transcendental music is what they have graced us with.
Love those long heavy headbangs at the end. The stage could barely hold up all of that heavy metal.
I get constantly amazed. Seriously, every fucking week I'll have a couple of moments when I listen to Meshuggah (I don't do it all the time) and something just totally blows my mind. Like an implosion in my brain that makes me wanna move spasmatically. They're orgasmic.

To think its been since the Obzen tour(s) that they last played this live, and now its back in the set. What a time to be alive and a meshuggah fan.
so much groove. love it
That's so cool how the lighting is synced to the song. The part starting at 3:35 has that white flash synced to that octave note, watching them in concert must put you into a hypnotic state.
It doesn't matter which album you buy next...They're all genius
This is.... just..... fuckin.... incredible
This song has everything
You can see Tomas looking to his right the whole song because the China is loose and no one fixes it.
yeah na meshuggah are pretty much the best band going like every song is just wildly good
Nothing lasts forever and Lövgren's hair and their stage headbanging are no exceptions :(
the lightshow from hell is a very fair trade off
@@watashiwajigabudesu9662 It is a better trade-off. No video does justice for how their current light show puts you in a literal trance
They still headbang, just not as crazy as they used to like in this video
it's a good groove
I love that intro, especially how they synced it into the song.
5:54...interesting ab workout
Damn. Jens sent that shit to the moon.
i miss that sweet snare roll at the ending riff with the double hit following the normal snare roll...
Bastiaan Flam
Definitely Undeniably At Their Apex, No Fucking Doubt..AS they always are:) My Fave
Obviously this is a band known for being massively heavy, but this might be their absolute heaviest... especially that fat chunky riff at the end.
haake is a robot! or rather robots are haake
indeed robots are Haake clones.
That outro is so damn good.
this is so epic in a wierd epic way.....
MESHUGGAH
best live concert sound ive heard
What an amazing band😊
Oh, just fuck yes.
Amazing song! My favorite meshuggah's lyrics to a song as well, it's so dark brutal and true.
5:34 this is so fucking wild
That scream at 2:13 💪🏻😈🤘🏻
To Polska, przejmujemy film!
The one and only breakdown better than Domination by Pantera

@@sjn_ im surprised that someone mentioned it,one of my favourites from them cuz i didn't expect it much
This band just rips it up!!
They should have played that last riff for at least 20 more minutes.
One person broke their neck while trying to imitate Jens' headbanging.
5:33 *coloca sus sesos restantes en una juguera*
......this song leaves me speechless and with a violent moshing spirit

That riff at 3:35 tho
i'd recommend obZen
Dat sound
That outro sounds like the world is about to end.
fucking goooood!!!!!!!!
at 0:05 starts the polyrhythm. Japanese overpowered.
@saturnianspire So true.
Id be happy if the rest of the set was just that riff
Let’s all admit, these are all the out takes of Bleed, that didn’t make the cut. That being said, this is Bleed 2 and we are so lucky!!!!’
2:10 holy. fucking. shit.
This is why we can't have nice things!
haha right!!!
