This time I'm making traditional Japanese dumplings called sanshoku-dango & mitarashi-dango. They're pretty easy to make and tasty. If you get a chance, please give it a try!

【Ingredients / serves 2】
Please follow the instructions of your rice flour bag to make dumplings if it has them. Often times it has instructions on the back. Here's the ingredients I used bellow. You can adjust the ratio to your taste.
Mitarashi-dango
250g rice flour
200ml hot water
100ml soy sauce
100g sugar
200ml water
30g potato starch
Sanshoku-dango
250g rice flour
150ml hot water
30g sugar
sakura
yomogi
food colouring (red)
matcha powder

Training, lots of training. Cats can be trained, but you can’t train them like dogs and the motivation is a little harder to nail down.
I still don't appreciate the declawing and they had Haku since he was 3 months old. I first thought he was adopted and someone else did it.
@@MacCheekz1990 Haku isn't declawed though? He climbs stuff and uses cat scratchers just like any other healthy cat.
I think he literally sees his cats different than most pet owners do. Giving them a LIFETIME of constant interaction and experiences. They’re sooo safe and nurtured. It affects the way these precious beings interact. I wish ALL humans treated animals with such respect!

Nagi was so close to convincing Jun and us that he's a human by sitting like a gentleman next to the counter, but then his cover blew off the moment Jun waved the Yomogi branch around, exposing the fact that Nagi is indeed a cat.

Agreed! I've been curious what this dango was. Its been referenced in the latest game Genshin Impact as well!. Thank you for sharing! I don't think we have yamogi (?) In USA but maybe I can substitute it with mint or our loose leaf green tea version? And maybe rose to replace the sakura/cherry blossom.

Jun always takes his time to upload videos, but when he does it, they are magickal, exquisite, divine, peaceful, gorgeous, and full of kitties.

There's some interesting similarities between hanami dango and Vietnamese "banh bo hap". Both are pink, green, and white sweets made with rice flour. But banh bo is steamed with yeast to make it spongy, and is optionally served with coconut milk and peanut pieces. It's my favorite dessert to get with Vietnamese sandwiches!

Thank you so much for this recipe! I was born in Japan and my parents and I left when I was 6. My most vivid memory is when my dad used to come home from work and bring me hot mitarashi dango that he picked up on his way. I have not been able to find in Toronto it since I moved here, and was not able to find a good recipe. This recipe brought back my childhood memories! THANK YOU!
I remember when my daughter was a toddler she wanted to try dango after seeing it on an anime. I tried to read up on how to make it but felt a bit overwhelmed and didn't know where to get most of the ingredients. But now that there are more stores near us that sell all of the ingredients I might have to give it a try. Your video makes it seems way less over complicated and it's so peaceful to watch. It keeps my anxiety at ease. Thank you for your beautiful videos! I love those cats too! So cute!!!
They also sell them frozen in Chinese food stores. I think it's the same thing, though after simmering Chinese serve it in a sweet broth rather than grilling.
@@recoil53 it's not the same actually, the ones you get at the chinese store are called tangyuan,. while they use the same rice flour dough, tangyuan are a thin skin of dough surrounding a (typically oozy) filling. completely unskewer-able, unless you want to get super hot filling all over your hands.
It’s so great to see Jun using the BBQ they built! I was wondering when we’d see Jun cooking with the outdoor BBQ.
It’s also adorable that you made the BLUE 🍡 ones for your wife because it’s her favorite color!! So sweet. I hope she’s doing well, and would love to see her in more videos again. Omg! I didn't realize we would get to see the kitchen by the thumbnail. The house is even better than I imagined! Even though people might say the cats fit into the aesthetic, we all know the aesthetics were made specifically FOR the cats!

I don't know about the others, but I would SO buy a cookbook of Jun's recipes. His food looks amazing and the way his does it makes it feel like, as long as you have the space necessary, anyone can make these recipes, even with little technical knowhow or cooking background.

Please everyone remember that he most probably used glutinous rice flour! A friend and I tried to do the sanshoku dango but the texture was very off since our stores only sold regular rice flour

I've made dangos last year for my boyfriends birthday. Since it waas the first time making dango they didn't look that pretty. His birthday is nearing again and seeing how you make dangos motivated me to try again.
This video has everything that is wholesome and more. Haku riding on your back, Nagi being a good, healty boi, Poki taming his urges and being allowed into kitchen on regular basis, Japan just being the most gorgeous place on earth, and that is all without me starting on the food.
