- I went out for picnic/hiking with my cat this time. I made shaved ice and lemonade with a dollar cooking knife and ice block from conbini. It was easy, cheap, and delicious!

It's also possible that he found some sand he wanted to roll in, another thing cats and other animals do as part of their grooming.
Ultimately, I guess you're going to have to ask him yourself.

I think most cats would. Haku always tries to stay close to his dad. But in the woods, Haku seemed a little nervous along with being curious. Big, strange area with rushing water, noise and possible predators around. Gotta stay close to a protector human.

You'd be surprised - a lot of cats can be trained like this with a harness from an early age. We even managed it with our rescue cat who was already 1 1/2 yrs when we got him! Lots of treats on the way, lots of patience, and trust between the animal and the human.
@@lanycera ...you don't have to "train cats" to do this. They're conscience creatures. If they want to run away from their owner, they will do so.
I know this because we have an indoor cat that was indoors for 15 years, started meowing at me to go outside with her and she just follows along right beside and never runs off, even when rabbits or other creatures scurry past
We had a cat that looked very similar to Haku named Toulouse that would ride in the car and go hiking with us. He loved the adventure and always stayed close where we were.
My cats lived outside in my large garden for most of the time , but usually came in voluntarily to sleep at night. If are loved & treated well, they have a reasonably large territory to defend & if they are neutered, they are unlikely to roam far… Also ginger Cat’s are particularly fond of human contact.

@@pixel-rageunbound1935 his cats are all quite attached! That being said, Haku is the only one who's chill with being outdoors, and he doesn't like to exercise too much- so he follows his human butler around so he can be picked up whenever needed XD

i've never seen a cat act like haku outdoors. For him being a mostly inside cat, it's amazing. There's so much trust in that cat's behavior.
He's definitely a big, confident boy. Maine Coon traits, but Haku takes it to new levels.
I think this video really highlights why this channel is so appealing. Going outside, enjoying nature, having a pinic, petting a cat. There's something really enjoyable in the simplistic pleasures which make it really desirable and just plain uplifting. Thanks for another wholesome video.

i think that when they sense this type of unconditional love from their owner, they don’t even think about bolting or running away etc, because they know that if they stick together, it’s more enjoyable and they get food hehe

I personally think all the cats (Pichi doesn't count I guess) look up to him as the alpha. That's why they obey quite willingly.
@@Raidenze cats don't "obey" anyone. Cats are the embodiment of "Trust". If a cat does not trust, it will not interact positively, if at all.
Also, the "alpha" hierarchy theory was actually rescinded by the person who "discovered" it and later figured out that he was totally incorrect in his initial observations. "Alpha"-based pack structures really don't exist. Family units do.
Anyone can do it with a lot of love, expert cat knowledge, and a heap of patience.

Haku is the favorite who gets solo field trips with dad. If this were my and my sister as kids, my sister would be exclaiming “what about me what about me what about meeeeee???” We are both adults in our 30s, those days are far behind us. 😊

this is literally a dad taking his son on a little hiking trip, haku was so happy to get to roll around in that dirt LOL. i haven't gone hiking or trailing in a long time but this makes me want to go out again so bad. before it gets too cold, i want to take lots of long walks with my friends by the river :) also thank you for showing how cheap and simple it can be to have a good time and eat something delicious, i don't have lots of money these days (no one does really though...) so little things like this are exactly what i look forward to. love your channels so much, i wish nothing but good fortune for you, your wife, and your 4 kids :)

Jun calls his cat Haku but the subtilis for it is 琥珀 Kohaku, which is amber in English. Also Kohaku is the character's name in the animated movie Spirited Away.

Haku looks exactly like my Cupcake. Thank you for loving him so much. I rescued my Cupcake when he was just 2 mos.old.He almost died from being infested with foreign parasites but he is completely well now.

This reminds me of my relationship with my boy, Miyo, Norwegian forest cat that passed a few years ago... I wrote this in the year after, a reminder of the happiness I felt during our adventures / walks:

Very beautiful poem, also I understand losing a family member is hard, last month I had to say goodbye to my girl Misty.
She lived to be 11 but cancer got to her.. but I do remember fondly the times I'd take her out to my garden where she'd play around in the rows of Marigolds my mother planted or walk around the house finding places to eat grass and do other things before wanting to come back inside.

Haku looks like my old cat, Tam. Tam was also a long-haired marmalade ginger like Haku only he was much larger. Tam was a Maine Coon who lived to be 17 years old by the time he succumbed to cancer. While he wasn't quite like Haku in being tractable, he did like going outdoors on walks with a harness and leash and then later being a farm cat (well, sort of ) later in his life.

I have the same concern. The trust and love are almost palpable between Haku and Jun, but even the calmest of cats can get scared and run away. And it never happens till it does... I really hope though that they really are some fairy creatures that can continue to have those trips together and be safe from all the dangers of the world.
My cat used to run off as if screaming "I'm free, I'm free"; it turned into a whole other adventure than a nice relaxing nature walk
My cat is fine without a leash when going outside in our garden but she definitely would not follow me to places if I wanted to go out to let’s say a forest or something😭😂

The only thing that baffles me is the lack of sanitation, I could never imagine just buying a new knife, taking ice into a forest, chopping it up on a mat that touched a forest surface, like any food-contact item I buy gets washed first 😅😅
