About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

When my daughter was 6, her class had a little lip sync competition going. The other kids all brought in their current pop radio hit staples, my daughter sang this song. I don't think the other children or teacher new what to make of this. She didn't win the competition, but everyone reading this comment knows she really did. So proud.
As am I… 🖤
Wow. Just wow. An old soul she must be. I reckon she'll rediscover and deeper connect to this song as she goes through her (no doubt glorious) life. This might just be the most powerfully human song Damon has ever written. And that's saying A LOT as you know. And indeed... your daughter won that competition by lenghts.
That is so sweet. Hello from Brazil.
Your daughter was fantastic, (without taking anything away from the other children) if Gia so small to choose a similar song means that in something that cannot be bought ....Have you ever asked him what feelings it feels to listen to this song ??music .. I repeat if your daughter chose her at only 6 she must have an uncommon type of sensitivity, given the silly music that you listen to on the radio ... Thanks friend for sharing your emotion with us🎸🙋🏻
That girl, won more than the competition! The competition wasn’t even on the radar!
No one, absolutely no one, can create such melancholic beautiful sentiment as Blur. They are everything
Agreed! They are (as always) the best...
Not agree.. this is so Bowie!
日本人で英語の歌詞は分からないけど、何故か涙が出る曲
ブラー最高‼︎ ありがとう
Somehow the exquisite happiness and unbearable sadness of life simultaneously encapsulated in a song. Unbearably beautiful.
God, that's beautiful. And awfully true
I absolutely agree.
Perfectly and wonderfully put.
I wish I was as eloquent as you. What you say is 100% how I feel about this song.
Britain's swan song.
Just watching this after seeing them at Wembley Stadium. Love it!
Most talented musician of the last 30 years, the king of reinvention.
My favorite band everrrrrr
+Tanya Sparrow pfft. Judging off how you comment on almost every one of their songs, I can tell!
TickTock Films pfft. so what
Tanya Sparrow I dont have a problem with it! Blur truly are the gods of music!
Tanya Sparrow Hangon, how would one create a religion with Damon albarn as the god?
@@TickTockFilms yes
remember when we thought this was the last we'd see of blur??? lol well, the magic whip came out of nowhere and it gave us something to smile about again! :) blur forever!
What a song. Pure class. What a talent Damon Albarn.
"Down to earth, where the money always comes first".. that hits hard
I've been telling people for 10 years at least that Blur are one of the greatest bands the world has ever seen. Period. Yes, right up there with the best of them and I hope history treats them as such.
This song just reiterates my position.
I agree!
Great song,bunch of wankers
I actually can't understand how this song isn't more popular!!!! I think it's probably their best song and not enough people even know it. Actually can't wrap my head around it...........maybe I'm just hanging around with the wrong people😂😂
I only found this song a few years ago. I wasn't in a good place when it was released so it slipped past me. I honestly think this is their best song it's a masterpiece and I can't stop listening to it.
It’s an absolute masterpiece 🎶
this is one of the best Blur songs ever
One of the most beautiful songs in the world. So much emotion from Damon, so much feels.
Repeat repeat repeat.
There is something absolutely incredible about music that connects on an emotional level. This month I lost both of my grandfathers, and my family and I have been wretches because great men were taken from us. Some days are better than others, but yesterday I was at a major low. I was browsing through my facebook and I saw someone posted this song, and as I listened to the melody it paralleled exactly how I felt. Although I was so upset while listening to this song, it made me feel better somehow.
This is a wonderful song. Thank you, Blur :)
MalkinFan25 I felt inspired to reply to your comment. I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope the intensity has eased with a bit more time. I'm sat listening to this song in the sunshine, staring out at blue skies and I find it quite relaxing but I can still feel the emotion stirring though I'm not sure what emotion is! Maybe compassion? (if that is an emotion!) Anyway, reading your comment, I was just reminded of how much how the context of our experience so shapes the way a song sings to us. The melody is lovely! And I'm glad Blur could help lift you :)
Briony Gunson Thank you so much for your response. It was very sweet of you to take the time to feel sympathy for someone you've never met :) It still hurts, but we're starting to get by. Just taking it day by day really helps. I definitely consider compassion an emotion! It's amazing how good music can make us feel so many things, and that the same song my trigger different emotions at different times.
This song did lift me despite one of the hardest times of my life, and it's funny that Blur can make me feel a sort of "beautiful sadness" and it can also pump me up to do something (eg. Song 2)
Anyway, thank you again for your comment. Cheers!
hey buddy, a good musician makes these kind of feelings. personally this song makes me feel nostalgic because I listed to Blur when I was in high school, in that time happened a lot of things what made feel too much happy, I'm feel so sorry about your experience, I'm glad that blur help you to feel happier in somehow.
Cheers from Mexico, I hope you'll have better times

+MalkinFan25 Music has seen me through many hard times - even music that is not thought of as 'uplifting'. Music connects with emotion in a unique way.
As soon as Damon started playing the piano and singing, I couldn't help but chuckle. It sounds so 'blurry'.
"For the way I feel about U, Paradise it's not lost, It's in U!"
Absolutely beautiful song - I love it. I'm a middle-age Mum who loved Gorillaz and got my teenage daughters onto them... they in turn, turned me on to Blur. My kids, 16-19 years, absolutely love Blur and would love to see them perform, but you are too far away from us (Perth, Western Australia). Forget Coachella, come where you would be appreciated!
I am in Perth Australia as well :) I was lucky enough to see Gorillaz here in 2010 and Blur here in 2015 during their Magic Whip tour. Would love for them to come back!
oh man, this song will make a good movie soundtrack i love this song.
How could a musician write a song about a busy highway and make it so beautiful?
im so annoyed at myself that i only got into these guys recently - if they never tour again and i missed their last shows i'll be so sad
I know right, just 10 days after they came to Australia I got into them 😕 I have a feeling though this will not be the last time they reunite for a tour
esme. i shear your feeling :,(
You will still see graham if anyone signs him
Same
Same 😭
I've seen a interview of Graham Coxon, and he said he wasn't sure about a new Blur album because they didn't want to damage Blur's legacy, but you can't leave their discography with their last album without Graham on it! I really hope they make another, everything Damon touches turns to gold so there's no way it will be bad.
your prayers have been heard!
I know dude :D
***** And it's FANTASTIC! I hope they tour the US.
And Magic whip turned out to be gold, this combination of creative humans make a sound so unique its irreplaceable and never able to be emulated.
Yeah theres no way they would make another blur album in 2015 because they were trapped in hong kong for a couple of days and got bored, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
As with most reunions I wasn't expecting much, but this, this sends shivers down my spine. Just makes you think some artists will always have that spark until the day they die. Beautiful.
There were blue skies in my city today
Everything was sinking
Said snow would come on Sunday
The old school was due and the traffic grew
Upon the Westway
Where I stood watching comets lonesome trails
Shining up above me the jet fuel it fell
Down to earth where the money always comes first
And the sirens sing
Bring us the day they switch off the machines
'Cause men in yellow jackets putting adverts inside my dreams
An automated song and the whole world gone
Fallen under the spell of the distance between us when we communicate
Still picking up shortwave
Somewhere they're out in space
It depends how you're wired when the night's on fire
Under the Westway
Now it's magic arrows hitting the bull
Doing one eighty still standing at last call
When the flags coming down
And the Last Post sounds
Just like a love song
For the way I feel about you
Paradise not lost it's in you
On a permanent basis I apologize
But I am going to sing
Hallelujah
Sing it out loud and sing it to you
Am I lost out at sea
'Til a tide wash me up off the Westway
I actually think this is my favourite blur song of all time. It's just beautiful, simple music
"Paradise not lost, it's in you"
masterpiece.
you know a band's good when their latest songs make it seem like they never left :)
Pure genius at work, this song is an instant classic, so emotive. When I listen to Blur it takes me back to the brit pop era, oasis, blur, cast, shed seven, ocean colour scene, suede, the bluetones, to name but a few, it was a genuinely exciting time in music, the music chart these days is just so damn boring, #bringbackthe90's
Oh man this song...
I first heard it five years ago when it first came out, while stuck in an airport alone. I listened to it on repeat. Gave me a warm feeling.
I was leaving for home first and my then girlfriend left for another city. We were happy then. Little did I know it'll be the last time I see her. I hope she is well and happy now.
Glad I found this song again. Nice memories.
"Am I lost out at sea?" ....when I hear such amazing music I am certain I am lost out at sea, no longer among everyone.
It definitely sounds like "Best Days" ;)
Coincido.
yes.. i like best day too 😍
One of the greatest bands of all time at the peak of their powers. I mean how tight is this! Every element is just in sync instinctively. Also, very few bands (or songwriters) could write this and produce a true anthem. I feel this is the song Damon had been trying to capture for years. It’s staggeringly good and clever and raw and beautiful. What a band.
Absolutely brilliant. 30 years ago would be taken in as a classic. In my ears, it absolutely is. Fan fucking tactic. Still got it guys. Brit pop fan.
this would have fitted quite snugly on The Great Escape
This song is one of my favorite wintertime songs.
I always listen to it when its cold outside while Im driving.
And I sing my heart out to it.
Are we still in the 90s then?
I thought it was already clear to everyone: Oasis commercial winner, Blur artistic winner. Whether they're still together or not.
As awesome as they ever were....great to see a band's music mature with them...and love the way they can still get back together when they want just do something like this....
1:32 instant eargasm
This and Out of time are their best songs. Simply stunning.
Every few weeks i come back to this song ...
Stunning
This is beautiful. They're so beautiful. I'm crying.
This song is BRILLIANT!!These guys never cease to amaze me!!I hope they do another album but if not we will always have all their amazing songs, thank you blur for your music, one of my favourites bands EVER!!
Blur's greatest song
By a million miles
i dont know why but this song means loads
I can't believe it was 10 years ago. Time flies seamlessly
These guys are stunningly amazing.
saw them mid 90's in Scotland, i loved all the 90's indie band's, Blur, Cast, Embrace to name a few! I need to crack out the cassettes !
Bring us the day they switch off the machines...❤️
every time i listen to this song i almost cry and i have no idea why cuz im not even sad
There's a reason Damon broke down after this song at Wembley.
He knows it's the best thing they ever did.
The sound of the last keyboard chord, is saying ultimately meaningful and crucial (for souls). The highest musical poetry tune.
3 November 2013 05:38am, i lost one of my best friend in a traffic accident.
21 Aug 2014 00:45pm, broke up with my gf (we were dating for 7 years)
11 Aug 2016 00:30, while travelling i lost myself, and now i'm searching the meaning of life and itself.
Rest in peace my brother who told me "there will always be a hope, and the whole world is going to help you to find it."
Coxon so perfect at 1:29
They came back to Britpop days in this amazing tune ❤❤❤
Melissa Borges Indeed. It's a real classic!
These guys are the people who I have their picture attached on my wall for nearly 15 years now.. My hero !!
Hauntingly beautiful. Melancholy never sounded so exquisite.
Goodbye Blur, your music forever
It's like watching old friends. Music for the rest of my life.
Miss them. Glad new album is coming soon.
Blur, 2022 years after Earth's creation, still the best band I ever worked with.
Such a beautiful song and especially moving hearing this after the news of the Grenfell Tower fire in West London last night 😢💔
there's just something about Damon Albarn's voice that gets me every time
I saw the live in Mexico a few years ago, I was 14 and singing this song along them touched my very soul. It was amazing.
Best Blur's song ever? ♥
Brilliant. I wouldn't expect anything less from Blur.
blur is for me the best indie band ever.. happy comeback, this song is awesome !
Beautifully done. Typical of Blur, nothing but the best.
Temazo como en los mejores tiempos, tenia tiempo de no escuchar una cancion nueva tan buena
This is such a masterpiece
I love Blur and Pulp . they are my favorite.
Love this, always loved his voice and the way he sings.

This song is perfection!
They're untouched! It's like go back in the 90's as if never has been a break up between them. You're such a wonderful guys, I send to you my best wishes!
Incredible song
a VERY Underrated band
....you don't know them at all, do you..?
London Bones They're not that big in North America, and in the music industry, if your're famous in NA, then you're pretty much set everywhere else.
Link The Love they were big in north america, especially when song 2 came out. They're not currently popular in the music industry because they're not playing together anymore..
That's the problem, song 2 was their only big hit here, and that song was made as a mockery for the current trend of nu rock in the late 90's, they only had a huge impact on Europe
TreeMovies I think so..people know their typical songs :their singles-which they are amazing- but they have a lot of more songs even better that a lot of people don't know!!!
thx blur for all the great songs......!!!!!!!
This song gives me mixed feeling, so deep yet undescribable
Fantastic song. Please finish the new album guys. From Modern Life is Rubbish through the 1997 eponymous album Blur were virtually peerless in their time. One more classic album please before fading away into the goodnight.
Their most recent album is pretty damn awesome.
just perfect
what a come back.... amazing x
The best feeling in the world when you click on a random song in the suggestions box and the song is amazing and gets you all emotional. Love it!
Gives me tingles up and down my back :D Beautiful.
It's eerie how they channel Procol Harum and the Beach Boys at the same time on this one.
I can't decide wich is the best blur track between this and This Is a Low👏
I appreciate him greatly and thank God for them
La mejor cancion de Blur,es hermosaaaa!!!!!!!!!♥♥♥
magica!!
listening to this...i feel young again :) i grew up with Blur music....
listen it again and again and again...
they not create music, they just having fun
For us musicians having fun and making music is the same thing
Kuro Neko just because you are a musician doesn't mean you can write songs, the two are barely correlated at all
tim roth as lead singer, awesome
***** no his name is Damon Albarn.
lmao...
He does look like a prettier tim roth
On the basis of this single piece of new music Blur still have it. In spades. The future looks very bright indeed. When you are making music like this how could you not consider continuing to do so for a long time...beautiful.
Such a beautiful song
If you put a thumbs down 👎🏻 you must have no fookin ears
Not-so-Fun Fact: there was a whole album planned out for the release of this single, but it was scrapped in the end.
I also believe this was meant to be the last Blur release, but I kind of feel like we’ll get more after The Magic Whip. Surely they can’t end on Mirrorball/Y’all Doomed.
Seeing Blur for their Parklife tour with Pulp opening at the Fillmore was probably one of the best shows of all time!
I like to think that something big is coming. This song it's just perfect and is telling us that they always were together. Blur to the end.
This confirms my theory that blur are geniuses!!!!! They arent one of those bands that come back after a break and have lost all there class and talent.
sounds like best day from the great scape
