To be honest, what makes Gorillaz shine is Damon.. So whether it's his own songs or with the band it doesn't matter much to me. It's the voice that does it for me

+Mark Minnema The Gorillaz isnt just Damon or Jamie. anyone who has ever and will ever work with them on an album are. That is the Gorillaz, dozens of different artists from different genres, and different places coming together to make music.
Drunk Jotaro Kujo You missed the point, it is a 100% fact that the only official members are Jamie and Damon. Every musician has collaborators but that doesn't mean they represent the band. Damon is modest when he includes the featured artists as "members"...like give me a break. Have you never seen Gorillaz interviews? Have you not seen Bananaz? Those two developed the concept of the band while rooming together. They are also the only two consistent members throughout the years. Anybody who knows the slightest thing about the Gorillaz knows that those two are the entire foundation of the band, from its beginning to now. Jamie develops artistic concepts and Damon writes nearly all the songs. Having someone sing or rap over music you made makes them a featured artist, not a member of the band. Don't mistake those two.
Mark Minnema and you are missing the entire point. Damon might be the face of the group and jamie the art. but everyone who has collaborated with them are part of the gorillaz. its a huge mash of various artists and thats what makes Gorillaz, the Gorillaz. you also are forgetting that it wasnt just Jamie or Damon who thought of it but Del also helped not only write but help with some story elements way back with the first album and Del's own 3030 came out those two albums being pretty much entwined with eachother

Damon you will never see this message, but I have to tell you that you've become 1 of my new favorite artists of all time. I feel so ashamed for just having discovered you recently, but listening to this LP, Gorillaz and Blur I have to say you are 1of the best LIVING artists we have today.

this song is the reason I feel the way I do about many things in my life and the reason I surpass sadness. Damon's music is truly one of a kind. the way his music makes me feel is absolutely sensational, because not a lot of artists have that spark with me anymore. Damon has a wild side with Blur, a completely different personality with Gorillaz (like it isn't even him) and with his solo music it's just so relaxing and emotional. I love the way he experiments with music so much, and it's always successful and unlike nothing his fans have heard before. he truly is underrated and not a lot of people recognize him where I'm from (maybe 'the woo-hoo song' or Feel Good Inc, Clint Eastwood or DARE if I'm lucky. maybe Girls & Boys) but one thing is for sure, and that is that he's a fantastic artist with so much in plan, and he deserves every last bit of his fame. Damon, if you ever read this, and I doubt you won't: you truly are a fantastic person who knows exactly what he's doing. you are very important to all of us.

Keira Jade I said something very similar on this video 2 years ago, and I still mean every word of it. Damon Albarn is one of the greatest artists so we have today, and it burdens my heart that such amazing talent and love for his craft is criminally underrated. although Damon may not be high on a lot of "music charts" or top 100 flavor of the week polls, I hope that he knows that his fan base loves him and truly appreciates his art like no one else can

Tbh I love Gorillaz and all, but the amount of people commenting about 2D really disappoints me... can't Damon be his own person and make his own music? 2D is only a small part of him, it shouldn't define him. This isn't 2D's voice, it's Damon. I thhink there should be a point where you should know how to separate reality from fiction, and this album is reality and has NO association with Gorillaz or any of the fictional characters. It's just Damon himself.

I'm a huge Gorillaz fan, and they're pretty much the first Damon Albarn-ish music I've gotten into. Then I listened to this album. Then I listened to Blur. I'm so glad there's so much work from him. It's like I can never run out of Damon Albarn.
