About Noel Gallagher:
Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of Oasis, one of the biggest and most loved bands ever to emerge from the UK. His band played a tremendous role in shaping and inspiring contemporary guitar music from the 1990’s onwards. Noel’s continued success with the High Flying Birds cements his position as one of the most prolific and successful British songwriters of the last 50 years.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds first emerged in 2011 with their eponymous album released in October of that year. The album went double platinum in the UK and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The release of the debut album was supported by a touring schedule covering 150 live shows in 32 countries.
This was followed by ‘Chasing Yesterday’, released in March 2015 - the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel, with 122 further shows in 28 countries.
A third album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, was recorded in sessions spanning 2 years with renowned producer and composer David Holmes in Belfast and London released in November 2017.
There followed a series of multi-genre EPs released over the course of 2019 and 2020, all receiving high critical acclaim.
June 2021 saw the release of ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ - a Best Of celebrating a decade of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This was the bands 4th consecutive Number 1 album and the 12th Number 1 album across Noel’s career. 2021 also saw Noel named as Record Store Day’s official ambassador.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds played Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage in June 2022, delivering a career-spanning set to one of the weekend’s biggest crowds. The show was the culmination of a summer of acclaimed sold-out outdoor venues across the UK.
Fast forward to 2023 and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are looking ahead to their much anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Council Skies’, due for release 2nd June. From the evocative album title to the cover art, to the lyrics themselves, ‘Council Skies’ sees Noel Gallagher bringing a more personal perspective, reclaiming his past and paying homage to his Mancunian roots. His most varied and accomplished solo record to date, Noel’s new album is a record framed by confidence, risk-taking, surefooted creative freedom, and great emotional depth.
The first singles taken from the album - ‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘Easy Now’ - were met with a hail of critical and commercial success by fans and media alike. ‘Pretty Boy’ has also been remixed by The Cure’s Robert Smith, taking the track to a new spaced-out dimension.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds commence touring in early June 20023 with a 26 date USA co-headline tour with Garbage before returning to the UK an extensive run of outdoor venues including a huge homecoming show at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park before closing the year with an arena tour in December.

The atmosphere that this song creates is beautiful. I remember watching the credits roll on the supersonic documentary for the first time, and the use of this song gave me goosebumps!

The secret is in the progression of the chords used in this song but not only that, Noel's choice of melody is very well thought-out.

Man you’re right. Right when the credits hit, the chorus hits and it gave me chills at the theatre I was in. Didn’t expect to get emotional but I was next to my brother and just thought how sad it is that they don’t speak. Don’t blame either one of them, well maybe I blame LG a little, but still. Why them 2 specifically? I ask cause they're my favorites and.. don't get me wrong, I can still appreciate Wonderwall, but I don't get how it became "the" Oasis song?

I've never been huge fan of repetitive song structure and WW suffers with that. So most Oasis diehards will skip it
Masterplan can easily be called Noel Gallagher's greatest composition. There are few songs that convey from start to finish what its author intends for the listener. Masterplan is certainly one of them. BR

@MonticArckeys Talk Tonight is one of Noel's great works from the time he was still with Oasis. The story behind the lyrics is very impactful, and obviously, this is based on a personal opinion. However, after leaving Oasis and forming the High Flying Birds, few songs have been able to reach the level of the ones we mentioned. Dead to the World, If I Had a Gun, In the Heat of the Moment, and some other singles are so remarkable that we can say they surpass many of his earlier compositions. It is totally valid to place this man on the list of greatest composers in the history of music.
What's he trying to convey?
Masterplan can have various interpretations. From a religious standpoint, it refers to God. From a poetic perspective, the song speaks about allowing oneself to live and also reflecting on one's own life. In the music, Noel says that everything and everyone are part of a "masterplan".
He said once on the Russell Brand radio show that basically he was trying to say "whatever will be, will be" until everyone pointed out that song already existed!@@lpoolck17

Regardless of who sells more records etc, in terms of music knowledge and ability this guy is absolutely leagues above his brother.
It’s not a contest Noel easily sold more albums. Liam’s solo material came out when people moved on to streaming. Noel’s first album likely sold more than all 3 of Liam’s albums combined.
Hence Liam doing a thirty year anniversary tour for an album he didn't write a single note of. Also, Noel can sing. Which always helps.

When I was like 8 or 9 I rang into a local radio station and requested "my favourite Oasis song." The dj said yeah sure, thinking I would say Wonderwall etc. When I said Masterplan he couldn't believe a little kid knew the song and they had to go to break to try find it ha I got a big shout out for requesting it and still to this day I hold it dear, to the point where it'll never not be an all time top 3 for me.
