About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

This song is like a prayer, a prayer for love. Sensitive, painfully honest, beautiful.
I agree
Class song
Yes it is
my mum used to sing the ‘’oh my baby’’ part to me when i was sad or sick when i was younger. it did feel like a love prayer
It's beautiful, I sang this song to both my babies. Their night time lullaby

Lying by your side
Tender is the touch

Thank you Maya 🙏😊
Thank you budy !
It marvels me as to how Damon can change the pitch of his voice so amazingly, one moment he's singing falsetto and the next he can make his voice so deep
I was listening to Heavy Seas of Love for the first time the other day and I was struck by this exact thought! It’s something else, unexpected really as I’ve heard him sing as 2D more than as himself, the shift from the falsetto was like a revelation.
this is truly amazing, every time I feel very stupid trying to sing along to this song
I always thought that, on certain songs, Damon Albarn channeled David Bowie, consciously or otherwise, vocally, and probably never more so than on parts of this song. Not that that's a bad thing or anything, of course, and he still managed to have his own sound simultaneously.
@@Harry75 totally agree!
Anna the change in voice isn't Damon, It's Graham.
Ruby: I love you
OT: thats nice
I thought I recognised Damon's voice, so I had to be sure!
Had to Google the song, as soon as I heard it on Sex Ed.

It's my daughter's 10th Birthday today. This is her song, I remember singing it to her when she was a baby and I sang it to her this morning, in tears. The moment ten years ago my wasted life became meaningful and I found Love
Same for me. 23 years old. Exactly when the song came out.
And now I'm reading your post in tears. What a great song you two have!

So many musicians, singers. The real star is the "nerd" with his guitar, which is essential for this song. And his smile is so real, so nice, so natural.
Graham is the Tender ♥️
"Nerd with his guitar" 😂

I think this is their best album.. There was something really magical about this album.. there is a lot of awesome Alt Rock from 1999/early 2000 that is completely forgotten about... This is one of them

This is why I love blur, they release many cleverly produced albums. All of these not only flirt with many music styles, but also appeal to fans of lo-fi, psychedelia, electronica, gospel as well as fans of indie rock.
This song makes you wanna keep carry on through tough times, such a powerful song that feels like a beacon of hope
This song is special to me, while my wife was pregnant I played to my unborn daughter, she is now 2 years old... She's watching this with me, she is just smiling...

Tender is the day the demons go away. That line just hits different! I had it tattooed on me 6 years ago.
thats so cool

13 is such a sentimental album... I love it! You can feel love, chaos and pain in every song
For real! And I say this as someone who hasn't experienced neither drug abuse nor breakups. Though I can perfectly relate to the general feelings of loss and deslocation of the album. God, what an intense emotional ride...
O my Lordy! Just accidentally re-discovered my love of Blur 25 years on from this moving masterpiece. Where did that quarter of a century go?
how OLD are y'all
End of a century
It's impossible not to listen to this song and not feel calm.
this song helped me through some hard times when I 17. I love this band.
very good
The best Albarn-Coxon song.
UP
It doesn’t get old! I loved this song when I was 20 and in a few days I have my 40th Bday and I’m still listening to this
'As soon as they started singing (the choir), it was instantly and obviously a number one record. I'd never been so certain of anything. It was the best thing we'd ever done. The song was a great collaborative effort between Damon and Graham, too, at a time when their relationship was quite edgy. The harmony of those massed voices and the resting consonance of Damon and Graham's solidarity overwhelmed me to tears. William (Orbit, producer) was in a state of shock again. It was the best we'd all felt for a long, long time. ' Bit of A Blur, Alex James
Over 20 years later and this is still a timeless classic! I put this song on a "mix tape/cd" for my at the time girlfriend and we decide it would be our song. 20 years later she is my wife and it is still OUR song. Thank you Blur for the memories.
Love this song, it has that feeling of an hymn from the sixties....

Just found it today after you know liking blur for 10 years...jee I'm slow
I first heard it on a movie called _Southland Tales_ (same guy who directed _Donnie Darko_ so yes, it's weird)
I saw the beginnin of oasis and blur (42), but dont worry dude, music is timeless, dont have regrets, just enjoy your musical taste.
I love The beatles, i was not born when they sang, but, my father made me listen to them, and thanks to that I listen today bands like blur oasis arctic monkeys...ect...and many other musical styles. ( watch my playlists).
Nice post, Peace
Took me way to long to realize how great this song is.
The words that touched me the most after watching the scene on Sex Ed, the words - Come on Come on Come on get through it , was like an advice to Ruby, Someone who vulnerably showed her side to Otis but couldn't get what she wanted. Such a great selection of a song !
Ruby and Otis>>>Maeve and otis is clear after s3
Chill I think they lol be back together in s4, even that she got hurt i think that Otis deserve a second chance, but first he have to deal with Maeve’s feelings, be she will go to US and I think this will provide the time and space necessary for him to solve whatever it’s on his mind and heart
wtf you talking about?
that spoiler hits hard ahahahah but yeah, i love that scene. growing up need strenght and luck.
I hadn't heard this song in years and heard it at the end of Sex Ed. I forgot how much I loved this!
Whether I feel happy or sad, this song always fits my mood and feels like it stays by my side
That moment when you found a long lost music you love from when you were 14 years old...
...and that moment when you realize how many years have passed and suddenly you feel old...
kumppi ...and that moment you struggle finding real good music now.
Antonio Schenale ...and that moment when you realize that you won't have to wait very long, as the new album drops in a week or two.
Just found this song again and remember playing this song everyday for two weeks straight years ago. "Waiting for that feeling" ... Found that feeling again, too.

Graham coxon underrated guitarist , plays some lovely melodies
So I was 13 when this was released in the 90s, and we listened to a lot, it was one of the coolest songs back then. I just rediscovered it 22 years later and now I realize how brilliant it is.
I've noticed that Damon and Graham are facing each other while playing "Tender" and singing their respective parts to each other. Despite barely functioning as friends, band mates and while using substances(Damon-heroin, Graham-alcohol)at that time, they made great music together then and they make great music together now.

I've seen a lot live, just good old rock and roll, but these guys....they nailed it.....I love layers, dimensions, I'm not a musician, but this song has depth. Wonderful.
I remember when I was going through a bad break up with my first wife. We put this brand new song on and just held each other 😢😢 we couldn’t save our marriage but she still has a place in my heart.

I'm in my Graham Coxon appreciation era. I've always loved his stuff but I often underestimate myself just how awesome I think he is as an artist. Love his input in Blur but also solo and Waeve.
David Rowntree may not be the best technical drummer, but he's pretty creative with getting exactly the sound he wants, which is really much more important than funky beats and insane fills.
he sounds unique. in the end of the day, that's all that matters.
I don't think people know what 'technical' means. He's extremely measured and precise as a drummer. That, to me is a 'technical' drummer. Your whole comment is an oxymoron. Keith Moon wasn't a 'technical' drummer.
Varkings aye chill it’s Dave appreciation time
Same with coxon. Not a technical shred Lord, but one of the most inventive and creative guitarists there’s been I think. You can hear him on anything and instantly know who it is.
Dave never gets the attention he deserves...songs like Music is My Radar, 1992 (and Sing, same thing), French Song and Song 2 are my fav from his work..what about you?

This is one of the most Spiritually cleansing songs i know. i never listen without being moved to tears. Sometimes it is because i'm sad, and need to let it all out, sometimes because its beauty makes me so happy, i just am brought to tears, and sometimes because of all of the personal pain i find in common with his lyrics. It is so deceptively simple. Even on guitar, it is mostly simple, yet there are a couple of curves that are a bit tricky to play.
On this day, 25 years ago, it was released this soultouching song. I love you Blur
I think my favorite thing about Graham is that his singing voice never really changes. I'm saying this in a good way- Damon's voice has changed quite a bit since his blur/early gorillaz days, i've noticed, but Graham's barely ever has.
