Cant wait to see your completed projects, no pressure 😅. I love the green velvet, so perfect for covering your dining chairs. I like that you listened and responded to the feeling that you got from mr. Lurker, we get those feelings for a reason, its so important to tune in to it and stay safe.
I love this style of video! It's so fun to see all the varied creative things you get up to, so thanks for taking us along. I used to force myself to work on just one garment till it was finished, but I've found it works better for me if i can switch between different things, so i don't get stuck and make nothing at all just because one project has stalled. Looking forward to your next video for updates on these and some new stuff too. Feel free to keep taking us thrifting with you. I really enjoy the vicarious shopping - it blows my mind how massive US thift stores are compared to our tiny charity shops here in the UK. But it's still always about luck, timing, persistence and patience.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching! And yes to working on multiple projects--I feel the same. So easy to get stalled trying to find motivation to totally complete one project quickly. When I get a little tired of a project, I can work on something else and come back to it which keeps me so much more motivated and excited!
I love all your projects, i learned a lot from you when it comes to sewing and your videos are very well made. I hate wide leg pants, but I love watching you make them and i will definitely devour the full making of them video. 😂
Oh wow…thanks for the bias shout out, Casey! 💜 It caught me off guard, as was so engrossed in the pleated top - it’s looking so pretty. Very excited for this one! And what a perfect fabric for those chairs. They look like they could be in a period drama!
Of course!! I really loved the way you explained it--I consider myself a problem solver but I had given up on the continuous bias tape method at least a couple of times before. I feel like I have a new superpower haha! The chairs have me excited to finally do something with my dining room!
I love your planning and 'thinking' videos - seeing your pieces evolve is fascinating!. I'm thrilled to see someone using the Lutterloh system. My mother used it decades ago and I love it too. Can't wait to see your completed spring/summer collection.🌷
So glad you enjoyed it! I have really been loving the Lutterloh kit! It is such a quick drafting method and there's a little problem solving involved...just scratches that creative sewing itch for me :) Thanks so much for watching!
Love that green fabric on the chairs! I have the same project lined up (7 chairs total) but so far I haven't found the right fabric. My choice is also limited by the fact that kids are messy 😅
I loved this video, getting to see a little bit of a "day in the life". Also love the green velvet. Those chairs are a treasure. I've never seen those fancy folders like that ...Oh, and those Lutterloh pants looked great on you. I always get excited when you have a new pattern coming out. I absolutely love all your patterns. Also, I'm so glad you got out of the store with the stalker dude. I read a book by Gavin de Becker called "The Gift of Fear" it talks about the importance of following your gut instincts like that...Well, I'm trying not to ramble on, thanks for another great video.
Thank you, Cathleen! I had so much energy this week for creative projects--I know it's because of the changing season! I love this time of year! Yeah, that guy was just giving me a vibe! I always trust that gut, it's there for a reason!
This is fascinating. As a beginner, my first project is going to be altering a dress I already have. Thanks for the inspiration, you're very skilled & I love your fashion style! 👏
My goodness you’ve been busy!! The top you are creating is really cute! What fabric are you going to make the final one out of? Your dining room chair transformations came out great! That green is so rich looking! Loved the hint about the steamer! You have some great second hand stores. It’s so fun to shop with you and then see what you pickup. Have a Great week!!
I purchased almost the same green econo velvet from Joann’s for deco pillows for my couch and pre washed the fabric in warm twice as I knew that I would be taking the pillow covers of to wash and they come out perfectly. Beautiful work always, I love all of you video, thank you so much.
I went ahead and bought what they had left of it because it was so pretty and on sale and I know I'll want to use it again (probably also for pillows)! :) Thanks so much for watching my videos!
I'm figuring that you have found out by now, that with pants you use your waist measurement for the top waist area and then for the rest of the pants you use your hip measurement. I'm having a hard time trying to get the system to work for me. Like you said if you are even a little bit off it makes a difference. Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy them.
The chair turned out great! I've also had luck in JA's sale upholstery section. RE: Your furniture search: You know, flea market season is coming up... Good luck on finding just the right piece.
Oooh, flea markets!! Ok I need to add that to my list of places to search. I'm discovering a whole new world of places to find cool furniture (went to an antique mall today, which was fun)! The JoAnn bargain upholstery section had so much cool fabric!
Absolutely love your videos have been binging them the last few weeks after discovering you, bought your brigit tee at the weekend so excited to order fabric and create. Also your teeth are looking beautiful! I have invisalign too 😊
Ah thank you so much! So glad to know that. I plan to eventually do a full review of the invisalign--I've been documenting the progress every week and have been thrilled so far with the results!
I really enjoyed your video. The chair cushions look beautiful. Just a thought on your Lutterloh pattern. I think I read in my instructions that for the bust and waist you use the bust measurement. Anything below the waist you use the bust. You might not have had to change the pattern so much. Look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you! I'm guessing the patterns in the kit use industry standard Bust/Waist/Hip ratios, and since my ratios don't match the industry standard, I usually end up with the waist needing adjusting.
I was told the ones with the dark symbol is for fuller figures. They don't fit as well for slim people. I use this system all the time but without that symbol size.
In the book, it does state that the dark symbol is "especially suitable for fuller figures" but I think they are still ok for slimmer figures. I only had to adjust the waist, a common adjustment for me.
The little top would be lovely in a sun dress too! Can you share more info on the tissue linen from Joann’s please, I would like to order some. Thank u
I like the first muslin although you are looking for another look. So far the muslin short reminds me of culottes. Awesome for the beginnings, the middle and the finished garment.
I’m still watching the video so I apologize if you go over this, but I think your bust measurement is to be used for the waist and everything above and your hip for anything below. And maybe that doesn’t matter in some cases. Just a thought.
Thank you! It is a thrifted 3' x 5' dining table with a large cutting mat on top that I bought at JoAnn Fabrics. I also swapped out the legs on the table to make it taller and added wheels to it :)
I looked up the Lutterloh system from a previous link. I would like to make sure I get one that includes basic patterns. Did you get the 280 pattern kit? When I looked at what was included, they seem to be mostly very dated. And also the one they had for sale doesn’t have as many accessories as yours
We think he is a shih tzu but he may be mixed with something else, we aren't 100% sure. I found him at the humane society and it was love at first sight! He is the best little buddy! The most chill dog I've ever met :)
Oh, I see you cut the front and back of the vintage dress in different directions on the fabric (the top facing different directions). I've always wondered if that's OK or not. Does this mean it is or is it better to let the top of all pieces face the same direction if possible? And is there a difference between woven and knitted fabric?
Since that fabric has a multi-directional print, I can go in either direction as long as I keep it on grain. With a woven or knit fabric you typically want to keep pattern pieces on grain, in the up/down direction parallel to the selvedge (using the grainline on the pattern pieces as a guide for placement). On very few occasions I have cut a knit pattern off grain if it is a 4-way stretch and I'm limited on yardage. Hope that helps! :)
Hi. Could I ask what your measurements are please. Your hip size mentioned in this video is the same as mine but my clothes never look as nice on me as they do on you. Just wondering how different your size is to mine. Hope you Dont mind this question.
I try to repurpose the material for other muslins when I can, or hang on to the scraps for other projects if possible. If not, they pretty much stay in my scrap pile.
Well...it includes 280 patterns haha, so that comes out to about 53 cents per pattern, I definitely didn't love every single pattern, though, maybe 30 or so that I would consider making. That is still about $9 per pattern, which is cheaper than buying most patterns individually.
I have a few videos on drafting (check out the playlist called 'Pattern Drafting' here on my channel). I'd like to do more of them! :) Thanks for the sub!
@@PatternScout I just found your very 1st video and your website and purchased a pattern on sale. I am in a binging mood and your it . I am looking forward to learning. Thank you
Love how the chairs turned out! It’s amazing how a little fabric change makes such a big difference!
Thank you! That simple change made such a difference--I keep looking at them haha. Love that color so much.
Oooh those trousers are going to be so cute!! I loved watching the fitting adjustments and pattern making you did for them. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Jessica!!
It's fun to see all the things you're working on! The chairs look fantastic - looking forward to the dining room video! 😄👍

Love the green color on the chairs. Nice to know about that steamer to get out the crease
Thanks! That green really grabbed me, was just what I was looking for. And the steamer is so handy
Great fabric choice for the chairs! They look beautiful. Good idea on using the steamer.
Looks like you have had a very productive week. Well 👍

I bought a whole bolt of it last time I saw it, perfect for summer shirts!
Interesting system....never seen anything like it.

Curious why coins are taped to your hip curve ruler.🤔
Hi Casey, can I ask what breed of dog is Huxley, he’s so cute, thanks for sharing this video and your sewing inspiration!😀
We think he is a shih tzu but he may be mixed with something else, we aren't 100% sure. I found him at the humane society and it was love at first sight! He is the best little buddy! The most chill dog I've ever met :)
Thank you for the video. I don’t see the link for the continuous binding tape… and I can’t find it under the name you provided… help!
Hi Janice, it's in the links list in the description below the video...the name of the channel Joon Made :)

I just bought the Lutterloh patterns. Do we have to add ease to our measurements? Thanks! Love your Channel!
Awesome! Ease is included for each design, but you do need to add seam allowance 👍
Hi. Could I ask what your measurements are please. Your hip size mentioned in this video is the same as mine but my clothes never look as nice on me as they do on you. Just wondering how different your size is to mine. Hope you Dont mind this question.
What do you do with your muslins after ward?
I try to repurpose the material for other muslins when I can, or hang on to the scraps for other projects if possible. If not, they pretty much stay in my scrap pile.
How do you measure stride?
It looks to me like the wedgie issue on the pleated pants is due to the shallower crotch curve when compared to your sloper.
Is that kit worth $149? Seems pretty expensive!
Well...it includes 280 patterns haha, so that comes out to about 53 cents per pattern, I definitely didn't love every single pattern, though, maybe 30 or so that I would consider making. That is still about $9 per pattern, which is cheaper than buying most patterns individually.
