I love your style! It’s so refreshing to see a colourful and unique style that is sustainable and minimalist, opposed to the more neutral styles (no shade to anyone that likes that, but I just prefer yours)! Your creativity is awesome and your technique is beautiful!
I love your little improvements, they really are very true to your style. I would perhaps make some festive table linens from the plaid shirt, but there's certainly plenty of good fabric in it for possible future projects
you are an artist! i knew you were poetic by the beautiful, thoughtful way you speak; BUT the PHYSICAL art you create is just as thoughtful and beautiful
Thank you for these tips! I had lost motivation to adjust my current clothes, but now I’m feeling motivated to change buttons and make little adjustments instead of feeling not pretty in them.
What good choices you made here! You seem to be becoming more yourself all the time, if that makes sense. I have begun to embrace visible mending, as introduced to me by The Green Wrapper vlog. I am a senior woman in the north woods of Michigan with a house full of "what if?" My strategy is to use up what is reasonable and pass the rest to someone who can use it. More and more I require less and less! I have begun creating Zokin cleaning cloths from old t-shirts for my dishcloths . The first ones were utilitarian to a degree, but I realized I could draw pictures with a needle and they would still function beautifully (pun intended) and keep my busy creative mind and hands happy. Thank you for your calm reflections, your continuing search for beauty and inspiration, and the glimpses of another world that you provide your online community! Happy holidays and stay warm!
I like all the three changes you did to your clothes ❤. As someone who loves sewing, I want to add that a sewing machine hasn’t to be expensive. I only sew with very old sewing machines and never would buy a modern one. The old ones are (for example an old singer) as good as the modern ones or even better. The old ones are always repairable, the expensive modern ones aren’t. The old ones are very cheap, you can get one for about 50 € (here in Germany). Maybe you have to clean and oil it, but the most machines will work perfectly then.
Such a great idea to swap our buttons, which also works for old wool coats (there are many in Thrift Store, though the buttons are usually awful). I sew a lot of my dresses and once made one with the buttons unequal distances apart. No one said anything, but they would always stare at them, which made me laugh afterwards.
Ana!! I think *you* are so full of beauty, harmony and symmetry! I truly loved these 3 ideas and I'm proud of you promoting that it's easy enough to hand sew. Well, ok, because I'm all about hand sewing myself, but there's a certain zen and satisfaction in completing projects with simply a needle and thread. I do macrame so maybe I'll try a little macrame edge for one of my pants that are a bit on the short side, too. Hope you find other fun ideas to revamp more clothes! 💖
Thank you, Shelly! Hand sewing is very underrated and I would love to learn and promote it even more 😊A macrame edge sounds like such a great project!😍
Those red buttons! You took a nice shirt, and turned it into something playful and expressive. I love the impact of using contrasting thread. I have had some improvement in my health, and now the pants I am wearing are too big. I hate seaming....you've inspired me to maybe do some lacing up the sides with embroidery floss. No need to cut anything, and if I get bigger again, I could just let them out again... Hmmmmmm...
I change buttons, hand hem and sometimes elasticate the back of waistbands (easier than it sounds), occasionally dye stuff. Love your alteration hacks Ana, all looks great.
Great ideas Ana! I've been changing buttons on clothes for decades now! I started out of necessity on blazers and cardigan because I abhor the gold-coloured buttons they often have! Personally I prefer white metal or shell buttons but I I keep an open mind when thrifting as sometimes you can find some quirky gems! I'm not one for crochet or knitting but I love how your black pants came out. 😊 I recently had a pair of new-ish jeans split along a back pocket. I figured there must have been a fault in the fabric because there is no way this happened simply from use. I put a thin cotton patch on the inside and used sashiko embroidery to keep it in place. The rip is still visible, which I like because it tells the story of those jeans, and the contrast thread (in many shades of blue and white) makes a great pattern on the jeans themselves. I've had people actually ask me where I bought my jeans because they are so cool! 😂
I am so glad that I found this video!. I thought you had disappeared from UA-cam, and I haven’t got patreon. Your changes to your existing wardrobe are beautiful. Thank you Ana, and God bless you x
I do not abide by "Rules" either when it comes to wardrobe. I feel that everyone's style is unique and personal. (I did, however, cringe one day when my son wore a plaid shirt with camoflage pants.) I think it's wonderful how creative you are, Ana! Your embroidery came out beautiful!
The easiest way I've found to stencil for embroidery is to print/draw the image you want to embroider on printer paper, then use the long side of a chalk stick to rub all over the back of the image. Gently lay the paper into the fabric where you want the design, pin it, then trace hard over the image outline with a stylus so the pressure presses the chalk into the fabric. Super simple and washes out well
I’ve done boro stitching on a blue shirt I was tired of. It is a Japanese embroidery that is very old and rather monochromatic and I just love it. It’s very relaxing to do. I also love looking at photos of the really old garments in museums and so on. I think you might enjoy it, too. I love what you have done to these three items. I find interesting buttons are quite expensive and what a great idea to thrift a garment and reuse the buttons. Thanks for the tip!
There is a dissolving transfer decal, Sulky Solvy, that you can print the design onto like paper, then it sticks to the fabric like a sticker. You embroider right over it, then wash and it dissolves. I've embroidered such complex designs, and it was an absolute cinch (well the design transfer was easy).
Thank you for sharing these tips and techniques, Ana. I have used the thrift store button swap idea many times in the past with great success. Along those same lines, I have thrifted pillowcases with crocheted edges, cut the crocheted ends off, and sewed it onto pant or top bottoms for a different look. Then, you can dye the entire garment a color of your choice. This is a nice option for those of us who do not crochet, maybe have arthritis in our hands, or don't want to take the time to do it. The result is very beautiful. Thank you again, Ana. Every time I see a video from you, I stop and watch. Please take care. I hear that traffic and crossing the streets in Tblisi is hazardous to pedestrians! Peace to you.
Dear Ana, you're so smart and skilled!!! I loved every single piece you updated.❤ I usually don't get tired of my clothes, because they get ruined before I can get tired of them. But i often costumize my clothes when I buy them.😊
Thank you for sharing Ana. Beautiful changes. I hope you will be blessed with peace and comfort and all that you require this Christmas season and always.
Graphics and such detract from ones face, I avoid wearing them myself. Anna's face is the beautiful center of attention, but at least the design is down a ways from her face.
Hi Ana, love all your additions to your clothing❤. A crocheted border around socks looks lovely too. Maybe the red thrifted shirt fabric could be used to line a knitted bag or cut into squares to make a patchwork cushion cover. Your embroidery turned out so well. I love all your knitted vests❤. Lovely to see you. Take care Gale x
Yes, always a pleasure to watch your videos, thank you! I've only had the 'idea' once and that was to add a variety of buttons onto the pockets of a linen dress ... it was fun! Love what you did to your clothes ... you've added more years to their life :). and they look terrific!!
I love these type of videos! I do hope you do more of them, it's so simple and inspiring. I do a LOT of dyeing of my thrifted clothes (I buy for quality materials and ignore the colors) but very little of other types of alterations lately. I was impressed by the button switch making such a big difference! I have added length to pants with contrasting fabric before but the crochet idea makes them very unique.
Ana- I love your colorful style and your deliberate yet playful approach to changing your wardrobe to suit your tastes. The frustration with the dress embroidery was so worth it, it looks great!
Everything you do craft-wise looks amazing. And I love your colour palette and style. It's always such a pleasure to watch your videos. I've done these kinds of updates to my clothes as well but sometimes I end up not that satisfied with them. Those crochet cuffs looked fascinating indeed. Looking forward to part 2 🤗
Dear Ana, Super su ti ideje.Malo treba da se odeća promeni.Jednom davno sam na jednoj crnoj rolci izvezla belim koncem devu.Svi su me pitali gde ima da se kupi.Posle sam mnogim drugarica vezla razne stvari pi odeći.❤❤❤
Especially love the embroidery detail on the linen dress. The crochet ends to the black pants wasn’t as beautiful to me because I foremost am thinking the black of the pants wasn’t portrayed well on screen but still, the pants weren’t my preferred style so it could also be that. It is gorgeous in real life, I’m betting! And I’m guessing it will be an awesome trick to do with pants my style… though, now that I’m envisioning this with a nice flared denim like pair of pants, I’m suddenly remembering the 7/8 leg length red trousers that, on my short self, is more like a 14/15. It always bothered me slightly but they’re too comfy to ditch so I think I’ll go shopping for either the right color in red or find a multicolored one I like, think that will be beautiful. Might even look out for the right feel and thickness so that I can embroider a bit on a leg or pocket to give it a more coherent look, that might be neat as well. All in all thanks for all the inspiration, we might have different styles (though if I had your body style, I would definitely go more towards your style, love the style, just doesn’t match my body as well as I would need it to be to feel comfy enough) but I still can do so much with your examples. Inspiration can come from the weirdest, most different of sources sometimes so no wonder there 😊
Dearest Ana ❤you are so talented!!!! Every item was perfect 😍 loved it all. I would have resown the white buttons onto the red thrifted shirt & donate ❤ would love to see a part 2. have a wonderful week ❤
Here in the US we have pattern marking paper which comes in a pack of various colores, including white. I always used to use this transfer paper (like carbon paper) to transfer my embroidery design. There is also a transfer paper that you can computer print on.
There are great alternatives to converse - barefoot shoes ethically made in Europe. There are actually quite a few brands making converse-like trainers and you can find more cushioned or not-so-wide ones if preferred
Another fabulous and motivating video,Ana ! As someone who has had a lifelong fascination with insects,I find your embroidery idea so charming 😊,particularly since it was inspired by Ernst Haeckel, someone who kind of blew my mind when I discovered his work.Such a genius illustrator of things in nature that are usually either "unseen" or considered unsightly.I find the way he made them both visible AND beautiful so uplifting. His aesthetics and eye for harmony are so stimulating, aren't they?! Your rendering is very cool,I think you did actually capture the essence of the image in your embroidery. It's just the right size for the dress, too, and the white stitching looks elegant :) Well done! You have such interesting creative ideas and you always look especially happy when you do these crafting videos.Your enthusiasm is infectious and even though I'm not much of a crafter, you've got me wondering what I could do with some of my clothes as a project experiment :)
I'm so glad you liked the embroidery idea and that it's made you think about doing some crafting of your own, it will be fun! 😊Haeckel was a genius, I can study his fascinating works for hours 😍
Love the buttons and the crocheted hems. I’ve done button switching from a thrifted shirt also. I put the rejected buttons on the thrifted shirt and re-donated it.
Wonderful! I have mostly been mending lately: darning to preserve a favorite wool sweater and pair of handknit mittens. I haven't embellished in a long time, but this was inspirational and if you do a part two, I'd be very happy to see it!
Dear Ana, you are a unique special person. You ALWAYS inspire us. So stop rolling the screen and let’s do some crafty things 🤗😘 enjoy your week, take care, thank you very much Michaela
All projects were beautiful! I think I need to learn crochet now! I've been thinking about it for quite some time, but the need to lengthen some pants of my own and the desire for home made socks is probably the tipping point! Thank you for your lovely, soothing and thoughtful videos ❤
Ana, this is brilliant. I am not a minimalist, but I have a most similar approach to simply using what I have over and over. :) My grandmother's influence, I believe. Two of the items are, indeed, skirts she made for me. They needed freshening up. I added new trim on the hem, which also lengthened them and made them more bouffant. Quite a simple process, but transformative! BTW, changing buttons is one of my favorite things to do. Blessings to you, and kudos on your FINE content. :D
so glad to have found your channel! you've got amazing style and a wonderful life philosophy. thank tou for sharing your ideas ❤ the crochet hem on the pants is such a cool idea -- I'm definitely going to try it out on a pair of black hand-me-down pants that i adore, but are a bit too short for me 😅
very cool! I think this winter I want to try and knit a vest. they look so cozy and like a good way to make my wardrobe "feel" bigger without having to actually add a lot of pieces. also, I used to be ok at knitting and have really lost a lot of my skills (especially in reading patterns) over the past few years.
Just a note to say that the Taschen Verlag does reasonably priced Haeckel books for your future collection! I own one with ocean drawings 👌 And I have embroidery plans of my own on a plain dress 😊
I have been thinking of making similar adjustments to my own old clothes, and really appreciate your advice!! Would love to see more of these ideas. Love your sense of style!!
All your alterations are so charming and suitable for your unique style! Well done and hoping for a part two! I was hoping like crazy that you chose red buttons for shirt, it looks terrific that way! I signed up for Craftsy, what a deal. I have been dreaming of learning needle crafts such as crochet specifically but always stay stuck in analysis paralysis. Hopefully now I can finally make all the creations that are in my head and wear them around.
I just discovered Ernst Haeckel and have a book of his illustrations on my current wishlist as well! I love botanical illustrations but these scientific illustrations are new to me. I'm torn as to whether to remove a few favorites to frame ...
The first 1,000 people to click the link will get a full year of Premium membership to Craftsy for only $1.49: go.craftsy.com/anagoldberg/
Will check it out. Thanks Ana. You did wonderful, unique refreshes with your clothes. And is very inspiring ❤️ 😍 💕
I just got my gold subscription!!!! Excited : )
I signed up! I really need to improve my crochet skills and I'm excited to see what else I can learn!
I love your style! It’s so refreshing to see a colourful and unique style that is sustainable and minimalist, opposed to the more neutral styles (no shade to anyone that likes that, but I just prefer yours)! Your creativity is awesome and your technique is beautiful!
Oh, thank you for being so kind, Geri ❤️
Wow I didn’t expect the red buttons would make such a big difference, so so nice!
I carefully paint my buttons with nail varnish to change the look😂. I can remove it again and try another colour. My lazy hack!
I love your little improvements, they really are very true to your style. I would perhaps make some festive table linens from the plaid shirt, but there's certainly plenty of good fabric in it for possible future projects
Those crocheted pants are beautiful! Well done!
I like what youve done to extend the life of your clothes.
you are an artist! i knew you were poetic by the beautiful, thoughtful way you speak; BUT the PHYSICAL art you create is just as thoughtful and beautiful
Aww, thank you so much ❤️
Thank you for these tips! I had lost motivation to adjust my current clothes, but now I’m feeling motivated to change buttons and make little adjustments instead of feeling not pretty in them.
You’re welcome! So glad you feel inspired to update your wardrobe 😊
I appreciate your efforts to work through the hard seasons.
Hand work on garments is always so charming.
Peace to you

Also, in the states, the libraries sometimes have some to lend for free, and you can use the ones in the larger JoAnn stores that have craft spaces.
I sew a linen shirt dress with 14 differents buttons from my stash. An intentinnal choice with a nice swing!
That's a great way to give a piece of clothing so much personality.
Really GOOD idea!
Ana, the up-cycling you did to these garments is simply lovely 💜

Love all the changes but the crochet cuffs are soo inspirational

Thanks, Ellen!

Love this! The Shirt looks so stylish and fun with the red buttons! 🍒
I’ve done boro stitching on a blue shirt I was tired of. It is a Japanese embroidery that is very old and rather monochromatic and I just love it. It’s very relaxing to do. I also love looking at photos of the really old garments in museums and so on. I think you might enjoy it, too.

Boro stitching sounds like a lovely project! Thank you for the tip ❤️
Hand made socks are a pleasure to wear! Enjoy them!❤
You are so creative and inspiring ! 👏🏻✨
The shirt with the red buttons is so cute! ❤ You ideas are very clever.

I love how you mix match colours!
Your look is very original and suits you a lot.
Very good ideas.
😊
Such great ideas! Thanks for sharing. Love the "new" dress! 🙂👗
These hacks are brilliant! I definitely have a pair of too short cotton pants that I will be adding crochet cuffs too!
Yay, I hope you'll enjoy the process and the result! I've been nursing this idea for a while and now only regret not doing it sooner 😊
Dear Ana, you're so smart and skilled!!! I loved every single piece you updated.❤
I usually don't get tired of my clothes, because they get ruined before I can get tired of them. But i often costumize my clothes when I buy them.😊
Dear Chiara, thank you for your kind compliment ❤️ Customization is so much fun! It's all about making the clothes truly yours.
Thank you for sharing Ana. Beautiful changes. I hope you will be blessed with peace and comfort and all that you require this Christmas season and always.
The insect embroidery is beautiful! Always good to see you on UA-cam. I hope your winter is warm and cozy 💜
Thank you, my friend! Wishing you warmth and coziness too 💜
A M A Z I N G 🤩👏I love these ideas. You are so creative !! Thanks for your inspiration, dear Ana 🙏🫶

@@anagoldberg That's comforting to read 😅😇
Thank you Ana.
Thank you! Beautiful woman, beautiful results. You did a great job! Love your calming voice:3

I put a hold on a book of Ernst Haeckel illustrations at the library. Can't wait. Loved the alterations!
Love your style, colourwise it's very similar to mine. I am also a pale brunette, these colours are so flattering!
Thank you, Nicola ❤️ I wish I've chosen these colors earlier in my life 😅
Please , Part 2!!!!!!! ❤❤❤
Dearest Ana ❤you are so talented!!!! Every item was perfect 😍 loved it all. I would have resown the white buttons onto the red thrifted shirt & donate ❤ would love to see a part 2. have a wonderful week ❤

Hello dear Ana 🖐. I love your style. You are creative and you look lovely in all your clothes. Enjoy your "old/new" cothes 😊❤
Thank you, dear Anita ❤️
Very beautiful and inventive, dear Ana ❤ And you are a beautiful and very creative person.
Happy winter everyone ❄️
Thank you ❤️
Very chic! 🤩 I absolutely love you and your videos. Thank you Ana for another insightful and delightful video.
Blessings to you and your loved ones. ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words and wishes 😘
Love the buttons and the crocheted hems. I’ve done button switching from a thrifted shirt also. I put the rejected buttons on the thrifted shirt and re-donated it.
I adore your creativity, Ana! Absolutely well done, and your transformational wardrobe has given me a lot of new outlooks, too. Cheers!
Beautiful 😍
Wonderful! I have mostly been mending lately: darning to preserve a favorite wool sweater and pair of handknit mittens. I haven't embellished in a long time, but this was inspirational and if you do a part two, I'd be very happy to see it!
Such beautiful ideas and execution. Thank you
Wow ! These red buttons ! ... Splendid. Best wishes for this coming winter.
Thank you, Roger ❄️
Dear Ana, you are a unique special person. You ALWAYS inspire us. So stop rolling the screen and let’s do some crafty things 🤗😘 enjoy your week, take care, thank you very much Michaela
Thank you, dear Michaela ❤️🤗
You've given me some great ideas.
Ana you have such good ideas! I love all 3 outfits 😊xx
I often change and adjust my clothes and always feel more fond of the items I have cut and resewn. Yours are a bit more adventurous than mine!
Such creative projects! They turned out great. 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing your style and your process. You have inspired me to revamp some of my slightly-off pieces with some crochet as well!
Lovely! So creative.
Danke!
Thank you ❤️
Another video Ana have a great week
Thanks Liam, you too!
I love how the dress turn out, gorgeous ❤, about the trousers I wish I could buy a pair like this in the shop now, my creative skills are below 0 😂
All projects were beautiful! I think I need to learn crochet now! I've been thinking about it for quite some time, but the need to lengthen some pants of my own and the desire for home made socks is probably the tipping point! Thank you for your lovely, soothing and thoughtful videos ❤
Hi Ana! You are so talented and your wardrobe is just beautiful and so neat looking. I love your videos! Take care.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Marcia, it means a lot! ❤️
You're so creative. I love everything. Great job! ❤
That means a lot, thank you for watching! 😊
Thank you, it's lovely to hear that we share the same creative passion❤️

Excellent video. Thank you for sharing.
Love this!❤
so glad to have found your channel! you've got amazing style and a wonderful life philosophy. thank tou for sharing your ideas ❤ the crochet hem on the pants is such a cool idea -- I'm definitely going to try it out on a pair of black hand-me-down pants that i adore, but are a bit too short for me 😅
very cool! I think this winter I want to try and knit a vest. they look so cozy and like a good way to make my wardrobe "feel" bigger without having to actually add a lot of pieces. also, I used to be ok at knitting and have really lost a lot of my skills (especially in reading patterns) over the past few years.
I bet you'll get back into it in no time! Knitting a vest sounds super cozy. 😊
Just a note to say that the Taschen Verlag does reasonably priced Haeckel books for your future collection! I own one with ocean drawings 👌
And I have embroidery plans of my own on a plain dress 😊
Thank you! I love Taschen editions, they are so beautifully printed ❤️ Good luck with your embroidery project!🌷
I love your style and vibe
Would love to see a part two
I have been thinking of making similar adjustments to my own old clothes, and really appreciate your advice!! Would love to see more of these ideas. Love your sense of style!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you feel inspired! 😊
Wishing you all the best on your yarn art journey ❤️🤗It's so exciting!
Wow you're so creative, Ana!!
Genius and accessible 🎉Love all 3 ideas especially the crochet on your trousers xx
Thank you! 😊
I just discovered Ernst Haeckel and have a book of his illustrations on my current wishlist as well! I love botanical illustrations but these scientific illustrations are new to me. I'm torn as to whether to remove a few favorites to frame ...
Those illustrations are great for framing! I think I would do the same 😊 Art needs to be seen by us))
