Casey, these projects turned out beautifully. What I appreciate the most about your video is your “out loud” thinking and problem solving. We may not be making a top from a crocheted pillow case, but we will all certainly come up against a situation that needs a bit of finesse to get it the way we want. It’s such an important skill to have. I recently “ruined” a dress (the serger took a bite out of the skirt 😬 when I was finishing the seams. ) I repaired the tear and then created patch pockets to cover it up. Design detail!😂 The dress looks fantastic with the pockets.
The clothes turned out awesome!!! Love the idea of adding elastic to the waistband. I hate unpicking seams and "fixing" the waist. I will definitely use this next time!!! Thanks.
The pillowcase top looks great with your jeans, not sure why I don’t really like it with linen pants. 🤔 Not enough color contrast?? 🤔Legs too wide?? Just like the Jean look much better. 🙂Really like the white tank with the linen pants, so I think it’s more the color contrast I like with the jeans.
Love your videos! As a crocheter, I held my breath when you cut through that pillow case but WOW I am in love with what you turned it into. You've made me want to explore sewing a bit more! (A different type of stitching. 😀)Thanks for the amazing videos. Looking forward to more:)
Thank you so much! And sorry for giving you anxiety 😅 It gave me anxiety, too! I hope you do explore sewing more--I love it so much. Thanks for watching! :)
Love both the garments, I will have to think outside the box the next time I go thrifting. Thank you for all of your videos, I found you about 6 months ago and really enjoy your videos. I always learn something when I watch them.
These projects turned out so cute! I love the elastic in the waistband of the pants. It was fun to see the transformation of the pillowcase into a beautiful tank.
You are my sewing inspiration! I'm still working on learning the basics, but you keep me motivated to want to keep learning! Making beautiful things is so satisfying - thanks for sharing your talent and creativity! 😊
Loved the DIY designer vid and you did a masterful job on the top. I am attempting a collared shirt and man it is a struggle but I found your shirt video a great help. Thanks
I was refashioning a pair of linen pants to shorts and initially ii was too small and I threw it to the side. The material was a vertical stripe and I realized I could add a few extra inches to the sides (not noticeable) and covered with patch pockets from extra. I love them
I agree with Denise - hearing and watching you work through your design and problem-solving processes is so interesting and helpful. You are so creative and it sounds like your brother is too! I love the pants and the top and the way you styled both. What a transformation for that pillow case! Thanks for the great content!
I just really enjoy watching your videos whether I'll ever make something similar or not. You have such a warm and engaging way of chatting to us and you provide such interesting tips for improving fit etc. Thank you for all your awesome content.
That is the cutest outfit with the crochet tank top and wide leg pants! Nice! I liked how you added the cuff, it’s a good use of “not enough fabric” or when they shrink up more than you intended later!
Oh my gosh the crochet top is beautiful, what a success. It looks stunning with the jeans and pants. I love the wide pants also. Love love this vlog. Always look forward to your video’s Casey, you never fail to disappoint 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks so much, Vicki! I am so happy with these projects...a nice comeback from the previous week when I was a little bummed about my see-through shorts 😅
Hi Casey! What a great video! Love the little crochet crop top you made from pillowcases!!! I would have never thought of doing that. I was also surprised that it didn’t unravel after you started cutting it up. Very cute!! The wide leg pants come out really nice too. I’m seeing more and more wide leg pants. I’d like to try making a pair but I’m very petite overall, weight and height. I guess I need to ponder it for a while longer. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us. 😊
Thank you!! I probably would not have thought of using those pillow cases if it weren't for the DIY designer video! And I have always loved wide leg pants (and these were super easy to make). I might have to make another pair in black or olive linen 🤩
they look so great! great idea to add a cuff, i will take mental note of that, it's happened to me where my pants somehow end up a little shorter than intended- a cuff is a great way to save i!
The DIY Designer bought her crochet on Amazon. Which means it was produce from unfair labor and trade practices. Crochet can’t be machine made. Bravo to you for thrifting. It was clearly homemade and you upcycling it is keeping if from the landfill. It’s a beautiful top and is sustainable.
Thank you so much! As I was looking for inspiration for the top, I was thinking maybe I should learn to crochet because I found so many great crochet tops online! haha
Yes! As soon as you pulled out the crocheted pillow case I knew your inspiration came from the DIY Designer. I would totally make that top! And I like how you explained how you came up with the pattern for the pants.
Haha I actually found more crochet lace at the thrift store this week! I decided not to get it though...i feel like I'll see it everywhere now! And thanks for the Amazon tip--I will definitely do that!
Don't take the side seams in, it looks absolutely gorgeous as it is!!!! I love it, I am off to find some pillow cases like this ha ha no chance here in the U K
I would have found a light white cotton, washed it (to shrink) ironed it and cut out a lining for the sweet white short and voilà....They are not seethrough anymore 👍🏻🇳🇴
Classy ladyyyyy!!! Both garments are really chic and beautiful, Casey...and work together perfectly. That oatmeal colour suits your colouring so well. I love a good thrift find. I just found a lovely silver velvet (cotton/rayon) curtain for $3 and I'm trying to decide whether to make pants or a jacket. Too flashy?? I dunno. Just fun. I have this amazing crocheted tablecloth stored under my bed that was my nan's...hmm...what to do 😂 Thanks for sharing and keeping us inspired. You're fab! x
Thank you, Faith!! Oh man, I might have loudly whispered "yesssssssss!" when I saw the pillow cases...I love thrifting and good finds/successful projects just fuel my desire to go more! I'm intrigued by the velvet...do it! :) and the crochet tablecloth sounds lovely...crochet is so in right now. I actually ALMOST put those pillow cases on my bed, they were so pretty as is. 😅
Ugh I love those pants, and the top, so so cute! I've acually boughten a couple pairs a lot like those, but I've been teaching my 7 yr old how to do laundry, and forgot ide tossed my pants in the hamper, and he accidentally washed and dried them, they just blended in with everything and i didn't notice them while helping him..anyways, both pairs, shrunk, so now I'm trying to figure out how I can combine the two so least one pair are long enough for me again, it's been a pain trying to decide how ill lengthen the one pair. Being 5'9,it can be difficult finding pants long enough but yet small enough in the waist. Ive ended up basically altering every pair of pants I get. But you make me really wish i had a sewing machine, and more so wish my Mama had taught me to sew. She always just did what ever clothing alters or skirts and dresses we wanted with just us watching her, never really got to acually use her sewing machine cus she didnt want us messing it up, being her only one she had. 6 girls we definitely would have destroyed it im sure. I sew everything by hand, and its so much more time consuming. But so far, it's always been way worth it. Idk, you really seem to know what your doing, got any tips for me for an easy simple way to lengthen wide leg pants like those? That can be done hand sewn?
I feel like someone might’ve already said this, but I don’t really wanna read through years worth of comments. 😬 you could add a lightweight lining to the shorts. I’ve had store-bought white pants before that had a lining. I think it would work.
I’m digging these pieces!!! After having put so much towards a video just to have it not work out, these are a win for you!!! Great video Casey!!! Btw, tmi, there is NO WAY I personally could go without a bra in public. Kids and age have removed that option for me 😜🤭but nippies should totally sponsor you!!!
Thank youuuuuu!! I really am happy with the end result so the break was good for me i think! Glad I was able to give the projects more time. So funny about the nippies...I honestly got them for a little more nipple discretion when wearing a bra 🤣 then just started wearing them alone eventually, especially with athletic tanks. Nippies, sponsor me! I'm tryna sell these things! 🤣
Has anyone tell you that every move you make is so graceful? I think you should sew to graceful music also! Maybe what I said is superfluous but I mean it. My daughter was like that when she was younger and figure skated to music. Love the linen you made the pants out of . I like the elastic idea - very practical. How did the visit with your aunt go? I shop thrift stores often - you never know what one can remake into a winner! Thanks again for your excellent tutoring. By the way, I forgot to mention I like your brothers music production.
Just found you and love watching what you are making. I like the way you did the elastic. Could I do that to the back waist for too big jean waists? I have sewn for over 60 years! I love Pfaffs too.
Wow! Amazing…very nice. Question. Do you trace your paper pattern pieces on to the fabric and the go back with rotary? Love the tip that you were going to hand stitch the rest of the invisible zipper…as a beginner…I would have tried to go with the machine. Thanks for keeping it real for us beginners!!!
Thank you, Jennifer! Most of the time I trace the pattern onto the fabric with my chaco liner (especially if I am working with limited fabric and want to get the most efficient layout of my pattern before cutting). Thank you so much, Denise!! The problem solving is what makes some of the best projects I think. So smart to add the patch pockets to your skirt 🙌🙌
I totally agree with you about the outloud thinking. So much of sewing is problem solving and so it’s helpful and encouraging to hear these thoughts!
@@MomShots I'm so glad to know that! It definitely helps me work it out :)
I love how these turned out and how you explain what you are doing...
Thank you!
Wow, that crochet top is beautiful! And looks killer with the wide leg pants! Well done!
Thank you!
The clothes turned out awesome!!! Love the idea of adding elastic to the waistband. I hate unpicking seams and "fixing" the waist. I will definitely use this next time!!! Thanks.
Thank you! I will definitely use that elastic trick again. After I sew on a waistband, I realllly don't want to take it back off haha :)
Wow, love these projects, especially the thrifted crochet pillow cases to top.!!!! Thank you Casey -They look fabulous on you!
Thank you!! I am so tickled with that tank! Glad you like it! :)

Love the elastic added to the pants, I wouldn't have thought of that but it worked out really nice.
Buying my first sewing machine next week because of your incredible channel and business I’ll definitely follow up!
