    I am amazed by how MANY pieces are involved in constructing a well made coat; most of it never seen by mankind!😉

    I love how you show your thought process in making a project. It’s ok to make mistakes and change directions. I really enjoy all of your posts!!! Thank you so much for all your time.

      @@PatternScout But it’s so helpful that you acknowledge when need to step away and decide later so you don’t rush it. It’s an ongoing process for me, but when I do it I make much more sustainable decisions.

    Seeing the pad stitching is so satisfying! It’s going to be a beautiful coat…a true classic, but with a feminine twist with that wide, curved lapel and the shaping. 😍

      It is so satisfying! And I love a good, wide lapel! So ready to finish this thing!

    I so appreciate your taking the time to show exactly what the processes are when you start a new project. And share links to the reference materials you've found! So wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing!

    Great reminder that all sewing does not need to be fast to be satisfying and to level up the garment. Thank you for your videos!

      Definitely! Some of my favorite projects are the ones that took the most effort to create!

    This was extremely helpful! A lot of sewing videos are focused on less tailored garments and this was really helpful to learn about these different techniques needed for these structured pieces. Thank you for taking on this task so us novice tailors can learn proper technique! It was also great to see that these garments take time, even for experts like yourself...I am sure I will have this jacket by next fall LOL!

      So glad it was helpful! I am not an expert at tailoring, but love learning more about this stuff and sharing it here! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! :)

    That is so interesting! I haven't heard of roll lines before, so that was pretty neat. Thank you!

    Tipp: The welt pocket edges are actually stitched on the inside. (The facing + the triangle corners and the allowance folded in edge/Welt) That way the stitches dont show on the outside. And it prevents the welt pocket panal from flipping out. :)

    Wow that's a very interesting video the twill tape tension thing is clever and rolling fabric back to stitch is awesome. Wool looks brilliant to sew with, looks like you're molding it into shape. Not ready yet but will definitely try this it looks relaxing and addictive 😊

    Fascinating, learning a lot from your videos. Movies in the background for hand sewing - I can identify😂. Or, I also love audiobooks while I’m sewing.

    I admire you for tackling that! All your stitches were so neat and tidy. Outerwear is way far down the road for me, I’m afraid. My next project is going to be the Brigit tee! Can’t wait to try it with the facing/lining. That will be a new challenge for me.

    Very helpful, it doesn't get quite as cold here in Australia but it's good to know how if needed. Currently 38.2 deg C.🤣

    Feeling like spring in Michigan in February? Don’t believe it for a second. That warm bit was unusual. You’ll still use that coat.

    I really enjoy your discussion and how you've figured out how you will get the ideal coat. You have a Greta way to explain your planning and thinking. Great videos. You are really good at putting your footage together too. Well done , which editing software are you using, if you wouldn't mind sharing, I've just started my channel and have great ideas, but am having to figure out editing yet. Thanks again for your channel. Love it

      Thank you so much! I use Final Cut Pro to edit my videos (I tried Adobe Premiere when I first started a couple years ago, but prefer FCP). The editing part was the biggest learning curve for me, but now I have a good flow with it. Glad you enjoy the videos! Makes my day!

    This is an excellent tutorial. I notice you use a rotary cutter.. not shears . How did you decide to use a rotary cutter?

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  Рік тому

      Thank you! I like the rotary cutter because I can get cleaner cuts and don't have to lift the fabric to cut as I would with scissors.

      Thanks! Yes I made it (it's a pattern hack I made from my comfi tee pattern...I have a video where is used the same method to make a mesh buttonup a few months ago) :)

    Hi. Why do you chalk around your pattern pieces before cutting out rather than just cutting around your pattern pieces? Love your videos!

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! I like to trace the pieces first to make sure I like the placement on my fabric and to remind myself to make any adjustments (like lengthening). Kind of an insurance policy against making cutting mistakes! :)
