    YOU ARE A GOD SEND !! I have the exact same problem. Repair man can't get out for 2 weeks, and that's WITH a home warranty so I got a replacement part, watched a couple videos and thought it would be a simple fix.....NOT !!! Now I will be putting everything back together and waiting. I will never buy another LG product, and as you know this was NOT a cheap expense !!

      I got the lid off thanks to the video listed in the replies, got the lid lock assy replaced and now i can't get the lid back on. I had to take a breather...thought I was having heat stroke...what a PAIN. I hope GE makes extra large capacity units...I will order it TODAY. PS: there was so much rust along the rim, it's just a matter of time before this thing fails.

    It was great to finally find a video showing how to disassemble this piece o' crap machine. Mine's an LG 1201C, and this seems to be the same model. I was trying to get the tub out (needs massive cleaning - yuck), so I was disappointed that you didn't post the next video you mentioned. Although I'm still super grateful for this one. I think the issue might be that the large hex nut in the center needs to be removed? Will try tomorrow. I unscrewed all 12 of the nuts around the tub, but the tub won't budge. Plus I sliced open my bloody knuckles on the unreasonably sharp edge of the tub as I wrestled with the nuts.

    Another satisfied Fix It Now customer. Thank you for your video. I do NOT have the handy dandy tabs. I, too, thought I was going crazy. LOL! I was able to get the top off with help from my husband and no curse words. Scraping and sanding the rust from the bleach dispenser area was a pain, but it had to be done. I am waiting for the appliance paint to dry. I will be doing laundry in a day or two. Yay!

    I have the WT1701CW. I have no back panel. My controls are in front of the lid. On the side of the controls, there are two circles you can pop off with screws underneath. Once you remove those, there are screws in the back that need to be pulled too. Hoping this helps someone. I went with the putty knife because of old models at first, and never even looked at those screw covers.

    Not exactly like our wt4801cw but the video got me to where I could remove ours. On ours, after you remove the two rear screws, you have to lift the front edge so that plastic "ribs" will clear the front edge as you push the cover forward. Thanks for posting.

      I have the same model as you. Looking to take out the drum to clean it? Was it easy to do after you got the top off?

    • @HuskyMike
      @HuskyMike 2 роки тому

      @@ErikGoBlue I don't remember anything especially odd about it except for one rusted screw I had to drill out to get the top ring (?) off which holds the drum in place (if I'm remembering correctly). After I got the drum out, I do remember hearing water sloshing around inside the drum, which I thought was odd. Could not quickly figure out how to get it out so I didn't bother with it for long. Might be worth checking the stator for rust and making sure the nut is still tight. After ours loosened after a few years and then, this last time, it had a bad clutch bearing, we ended up scrapping it. When I had it apart, I noticed quite a bit of rust around the stator/ clutch shaft so it might be worth spraying something in there to try and prevent the rusting while you're there. All the best.

      @@Archifx Mine isn’t at all. I’ve had it for 9 years with zero issues. We’ve been getting a little leftover lint on dark clothing is all. I have it pulled out to do plumbing work behind it so I figured I go through it an clean it out a bit. To be honest it’s just about spotless inside so I’m not sure the source of our lint problem. Pretty sure someone left paper in a pocket but I can’t locate it. All in all it’s been a great machine.

  • @dorcasbender9647
    @dorcasbender9647 3 роки тому

    On my LG washer, the putty knife did work and there were in fact tabs that squeezed and release the top. Tu there are definite design flaws in the bleach dispenser. My machine is less than 8 years old and the metal around the bleach dispenser is rusted and corroded. Upon lifting the lid I discovered that there was even greater rust corrosion on the underside of the lid. I don’t use the bleach dispenser anymore now. Bad design!
