David Coverdale is as classy as ever. Mentioned his past peers and major influences to his career.
He even had nothing but nice things to say about Ritchie Blackmore... which is a HUGE change from the past!!
David Coverdale could narrate any story, ever.
Am I the only one who thinks they missed an opportunity by not playing one of Coverdale's DP songs with Gillan singing Glenn Hughes' parts?
First time I recall hearing Morse stick so closely to Ritchie's original playing
Great job thanks for sharing.
Super, Thank You
Thank you so much for sharing
You are so welcome
You Made Me Smile
Killer work
A Master "Piece"!
Deep Purple, the most underrated band in history by general opinion. They played in the same league with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath
Amen. Arguably the most influential hard rock/early metal band of all time.
No, dude. No one thinks that. They outsold Zeppelin in '73 and everyone has always rated them tremendously highly.
@allancerf9038 In fact, the RRHOF inducted Deep Purple 21 years after Led Zeppelin was inducted. And Led Zeppelin in 1973 broke the record for biggest concert attendance (Tampa), dwarfing what DP did in 1973.
@@allancerf9038 I never see Ian Paice in top of best drummer, never see Blackmore of top of best guitar player, never see Gillan in top of best singers...
And That they were introduced into the RRHOF so late, it was a shame.
@@edmonddp I don't know what you're saying is true could be. I wouldn't rely on Rock Magazine polls too much. Guitar World has him 7 with Brian May number 1. I personally feel this is ludicrious and I'm fairly certain May has said Blackmore is much better than himself. Nothing against May.
Ian Gillan's rankings are a bit easier to understand because though he has a phenomenal non-rock voice (Jesus Christ, Superstar) you have to sort of like Purple's music to like him - not everyone does. It's a pretty specific style. Oddly, Ian's vocals origins, are, as opera teachers say - pretty far from Rock. He has a phenomenal ability beyond rock without really doing much outside it besides Jesus Christ, Superstar. (That I'm aware of.) Thank God he discovered rock.
If you ask the great rock musicians who are best I think RB and IG would come near the very top.
All that aside - the public IS allowed to have their favorites.
You're making a huge mistake in my opinion in confusing "winning polls" with being well-known. Deep Purple has apparently sold 100,000,000 records which is an enormous success. And this despite the fact that DP has probably three far from stellar albums and I'm talking about before 1980, LOL, not after. So their great success is sort of constrained within 4-5 all time classic albums.
As far as the Rock and Roll HOF I very much do agree with you. It's unthinkable it took as long as it did for Purple to enter.
Without Purple whole styles of rock music would never have happened they're that good - and I fully respect that some people dislike them.
You and I are fans.
Best,
Allan
Nice! Thank you!
That audience got rocked. The way it should be.!!!!
They're being inducted late because they have to space it out. So much great talent exploded in the small window of the 60s and 70s and if everyone were inducted right away, there would be no one to induct in the future. Let's face it, there's not a lot, musically, going on these days.
Hello Mr. James how are you doing 😊
David Coverdale the definition of class damn!
kisses... just for this
you will get more double taps, I'm sure
What a great celebration. I suppose the last song was for Ritchie Blackmore and Peter Cetera. For future bands, just do it for the fans, please.
Yeah CUBE🎉
Chicago should have had Peter Cetera perform with them.
He, sort of, respectively declined.
Per usual, Cetera backed out after his demands weren't received well
sorry but he sounds like elmer fudd god love him
Peter who?
This is for the deep purple band members: I am very disappointed that you would exclude Richie Blackmore, one of the greatest guitar players of all time, and a big contributor to the band and one of its founding members, cheating us fans out of a last time performance with the band. You guys need to Rethink your pride which is false and put your egos aside for the benefit of others. What 😢a loss, that’s all I can say.
Oh sod off. Blackmore was invited to come and play but he refused
@@hhward that’s just not true
Blackmore was inducted and thanked by his former bandmates. He didn’t want to participate.
@@abbgt I saw a video where the manager was interviewed and he said that Ian the singer didn’t want Richie there and that’s why I said what I said
Richie was invited but didn't want to show up
Why Ritchie Blackmore doesn't attended this award?
Good question! Perhaps they weren't on good terms with each other.
Ritchie has gone on record to say he doesn’t care about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so that probably has something to do with it.
The band said they wanted him there... but they wouldn't play with him.
Ritchie couldn't care less... and I don't blame him.. Deep Purple gets in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with NWA??? The RnR HoF is a fucking joke!
Joke is being kind.
Especially with the last couple of years going country...don't misunderstand me, country has it's place but not in the RRHOF.
Just my own opinion 😊
@@melissatyree566 they have HIP HOP groups in the RRHOF!
Are there any rock groups or artists in the hip hop HOF??
Yeah.. "joke" is way too kind of a word
Seriously WHO the fuck is "nwa" ? Rock and Roll , hall of fame, same day as Deep Purple, please, let me know any "nwa" songs that are worthy of Rock and Roll hall of fame. I know now "seems" more a pop hall of fame, but come on, Deep Purple . Even here in Brasil I was listening them since I was a young boy, along with Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Pantera, but "nwa" Who is "nwa"
Foram lembrar dos caras só em 2016...PQP!
NWA = Niggas Wit Attitude... famous for their inpirational song "Fuck the Police"
The Rock and Roll hall of fame is a complete joke.
They are Inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ...That's who the fk they are🎉
@@msg.5130 And the Niggas With Attitude rap group (known for their hit song Fuck The Police) belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as much as Deep Purple belongs in the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.
Why Gillan's' hand shaking? And why does he sing badly?
he's old... and honestly he lost his voice around when The Battle Rages On came out.. his range is nothing like what it used to be.
