I like that this album has less screaming and more melody, it shows that they are not just a one-trick pony as far as a band goes. Keep up the great work guys!
I actually quite enjoy the new album. I think they've reached a higher evolution and maturity in their music, and Matt's voice is sounding better than ever.
i think that they were trying to show that there skills can produce much more than just death metal, this album proves that trivium can play alternative metal, and that matt can do more than scear(not that theres anything wrong withs matt's growls lol)
I don't get the criticism of this album. I like old Trivium, but I also like this. Personally I don't want to hear a band just crank out 10 albums that all sound basically the same. I do like the older stuff better, but this isn't bad at all.
Headz are always gonna criticize Trivium cuz of how they evolved from the Ember to Ascendancy to Crusade then Shogun. Personally, Shogun's my favorite but Waves, Vengeance and Silence have their rad points too. The mistake people make these days is expecting a band to out-do their best material when they find out they're in the studio instead of just enjoying what they bring to the table.
dave bc The only objectively disappointing albums they released were The Crusade and Silence in the Snow. VF is a very underrated album, it has the best vocals of Trivium albums minus the 8th and the guitar tone is just out of this world. Also better listening experience than their older albums, it has top quality production.

Mannn, I like Trivium A LOT. Hard to choose one track that I like the most of Heafy's voice.. but, the sweet tone he puts in this chorus "NO WAY TO HEEEEAL". Simply awesome.
best song on the album! could be straight off in waves or ascendancy, love the energy of the verse/pre chorus, the epicness of the chorus and that scream leading into the solo just tops it off! the vocal variations in the last chorus make me sing along everytime! great stuff guys

If I want screaming/growling/harsh vocals I prefer the traditional death or black metal style. His best harsh vocals were on the Shogun bonus tracks where he was growling. And hell yes To The Rats would have been 1000x better with more harsh vocals.
I love trivium. Old, and new. This album is pretty fucking sick. Not my favorite, but still great. It's better than playing the exact same shit over and over. And don't forget that there's quite a bit of influence by David Draiman on this album.. and it shows in some songs. (not a bad thing imo)

The way Matt's solo comes in and almost cuts off Cory's is really awesome. Big swell of melody and really catchy. Reminded me of something Mike Amott would do after a Chris solo, like in...Web of Lies, for example. Fantastic song.
How many of you are artists that can create something like what trivium loved? Sure we may prefer how they build songs earlier, but they do provide us with content, and to many of us excellent content. If these men did not play as such you all would be out of a fix, sure others exist, but damnit they are doing this because they love it, and doubtless love us.
Coming from someone that listens to many genres of Metal. From MetalCore to Technical Death Metal and Melodic Black Metal, this album (if it sounds like this song) is actually pretty good. If Trivium is able to Reach a Peak of Keeping their sound Epic, Melodic and yet Heavy and Thrashy/Technical then that's the direction I'm hoping they're aiming for which it does already seem that way. As long as they don't lean too much on the lighter side which is how their previous album sounded then great! Just my opinion.
It actually sounds like its a kind of Death Metal and Heavy Metal mix. If they keep up the great work they might be able to compete with Black Sabbath (Now disbanded or trying to look for a guitarist) and Slayer. This will be a long journey with ups and downs and it will get messy. Hope that they hold up until the end.

For those who think the first three songs released from this album mean the rest of the album won't be heavy, find a way to listen to the rest of the album. Most of the rest of the songs are actually pretty damn heavy. Kind of like a middle ground between Crusade and Shogun. The pre-release singles had me doubting too, but the album as a whole is pretty solid.
Ascendancy was by far my favorite album of all time... But after hearing this, I may have to rethink again! (Iam an avid fan of Trivium for a very long time.)
And everybody paniced that Draiman was gonna fuck this up. I knew he wouldn't and I saw what he did, he added a complexity to songs, gave them pre choruses and more verses. Trivium loops even less and they have put metal in an amazing spot.
