LYRICS
With my hands around your throat
That's the way I like you most
When you're choking on the
Feelings rushing out
I just want to hate
The same way that you hate
So that I don't feel this love
No more
I'm choking on the feelings
Rushing out
Time won't open up its wings
Let me fall from grace and land into the flames
I don't want to feel this love go cold
I don't know how you opened up this light before
I'm choking on the feelings rushing out
Wake
It's only getting worse
Wake
Behold this bitter curse
Wake
It's only getting worse
The end is nigh
Take it away
Every second of pain
Like a stake through the brain
Existence inhumane
Am I awake or dreaming?
Is this the life we're breeding?
Why stay alive when dying is much easier?
It's not gonna end the way you want
The end is nigh
We've wasted away every second and day
Trying to ascertain our dominion and faith
It's not gonna end the way you want
The end is nigh
I feel like they should have made that intro it's own song. The fact that it never comes up again throughout the song makes me sad :(
Ikr
If you notice, the bridge of the song, it's the intro, but faster and distorted. And then, on the solo and outro, they use the root notes.
the strife intro was perfect as well and only come up once
I only like this song because the intro
Exactly. I want a song with only the intro. Its beautiful.
Damn, it's so cool the way his voice goes super deep in the beginning.
I love it.
I can do that voice...but not as good as matt.
@@MaGGotsable Apparently it's all about how the tongue moves as you speak. Could be wrong tho.
I always remember "With my hands around your throat" and forget the title of the song...

Trivium has a way of creating an album that just grows on you the more you listen to it. This album, I admit didn't sit right with me, but the more I listened to it, the more I noticed little things, which just seem to be missing in modern day music. This is imo one of their best albums. It may not have all that death metal screaming, which I do miss, but the quality of this cd is off the charts.
I hated this album the first time I heard it..... But your right it's grown on me
i swear every trivium album i dont quite love at first but after i listen to it a few times i become absolutely obsessed with it. i think its because they are quite unique and your brain doesnt have a lot to reference when listening so its hard just to enjoy the first time. i have so much trouble coming up with what it think their best album is because whenever i listen to them again i realise how amazing they are and cant pick my favourite.
Dude sameeeee
A lot of people seem to go this way. I haven't had a single thing I've listened to by Trivium that I don't wanna slap up to 11.
Such a beautiful song.
indeed it is. in deeed it is
I always remember "With my hands around your throat" and forget the title of the song...
Yeah dude ! Still gives me chills everytime
That deep voice doe
LMAOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pedro Fraga scumbag
Pedro Fraga Yeah, talking like that isn't very gentleman like, just saying. She looks pretty that's all that needs to be said.
You might say whatever you want, but that doesn't necessarily get you whatever you want, grow up.
Pedro Fraga learn some respect and grow up douche bag.how about you act like a metalhaed and not leave your jock womanizing mentality on the justin bieber pages were you belong! kid
Trivium can write beautiful pieces. I love how Matt went through doing his screams to sounding like a deeper James Hetfield. Evolution at it's finest. This one will probably my favorite Trivium piece for a very long time.
4:14 onwards pretty much sold me on the entire album!
4:14~
epic guitar sound.
you know it's a good song when you get chills just searching it lmao
I saw them live recently and they blew me away. In my opinion this would be the perfect song to close off a show with. Trivium is the best.
They played this during mayhem fest 2015 it was awesome.
Probably my favourite off the album :D
Definitely a hidden trivium gem
This is one my Coronavirus playlist
@theplayboymaster shut up
5:42-5:49 love this part,on loop all day
I don't understand those complaining about Draiman's influence on this album. It's barely noticable. If nobody had told you that Draiman had a part in the making of this album you wouldn't even be complaining. Unless you're just looking for something to complain about, in which case, don't do it here. Trivium might actually listen to you. Nobody wants their next album to suck because a moody teenager felt like they had something to complain about.
Brad David Baker Nope that's not true. I actually didn't even know Draiman had anything to do with this album till I heard To Believe, I didn't even know who he was, but I did hear of Disturbed. While I was listening to that song, I kept thinking this is like a song I heard recently. And it did, sound so much like Stricken. And when I googled, that's when I learnt David Draiman basically wrote this album. It happened even with Incineration, Villainy Thrives, and this one. The only song that remotely sounds like Trivium's bad assery is Through Blood, Dirt and Bone. Even Strife which I like sounds too much like Disturbed's rhythm
Sometimes these lyrics make me worry about Matt. Such a beautiful, but also painful track. Thank you trivium for giving me a soundtrack to endure all the bullshit in life.
If Draiman helped to produce this kind of singing from Matt, then I thank him for doing so. No other album shows this side of Matt's voice.
He fucked his vocal cords on this album
This song could last 0:58 seconds and would be the best thing ever!
But it lasts 5:57 and is still fucking epic
This song is so well written that there are almost no words to describe it. well done trivium.
Been with you guys since "Ember to Inferno"
This song is beautiful
If you approach this album with the thinking that it will sound like and be influenced by David Draiman you probably will hear it. But if you listen to it again thinking that it is the most Trivium sounding record they have ever written you will appreciate this for how incredible it is!
this song literally takes my pain away, my headaches to my worries.
I couldn't get enough of this song when I first heard it :)
Christopher Kish i still can't
Dayvi Nelson I still can't either haha
By painting a picture of pain, it takes it away from you?
Hope you got over it by now. Idolatry is not good. Only God can heal your pain
This shit is nuts took me a bit to like their new direction but I'm now in love. Hope they keep coming up with new amazing shit.
Every album and song they make is amazing hands down haven't been disappointed.First and only band that I like every single song they make
The first and last 90 seconds of this song are the best work Trivium has ever done.
The ending is amazing
I shared this song to Facebook tonight and they blocked it. It is the Truth.
Wake and To Believe are the best songs of this album :)
No way to heal is easily the best.
I would probably say incineration: the broken world or through blood and dirt and bone. But no way to heal is definitely up there.
Strife and At The End of This War.
to believe!! what a piece!!! and so through blood and dirt and bone!
The only good songs on the album are this one and incineration everything else is just radio rock trash
I guess the start makes the song better.
Like this sing taught me that metal can blend well with melody.
obsessed with the outro!
i would like an acoustic version of this song!
Ascendancy .... Ember to inferno... Ill never see you again , such legendary you are. What changed you , age, time, salut, popularity, experience, greed or mainstream . Fell off like the rest of the bands , so over all time
God bless you, so fuckgin true
Yeah well they dont have to make the new sound softer becuse then it just sucks mate
Hahaha yeah rigth :P
***** If you have a look at the writing of Shogun, then at the writing of In Waves, I cannot see how anyone could say that In Waves is more "mature" unless their definition of mature is synonymous to formal, simple and uninspiring.
I agree they haven't sold out and that the sound has to change over time though. Bottom line, VF kicks ass and it's a great thing they brought back their signature choruses that In Waves totally lacked.
GunsNRoses1123 You know nothing about music. Such a shame, calling yourself a Trivium fan.
To me, the fact that this band has so many people hating on their old and new sound both makes me feel that they are doing something right and have been all along. I cant stand a lot of music, but I do not feel the need to go to the artist's videos I don't care for and comment negatively on them. That would be a waste of what time I have left in this existence. I personally have loved this band from the start and their continued success is enough of a stab in the eye to hater for my satisfaction
The ending is amazing!
Wow Matt should be proud with how great his voice has become since all those years ago.
Matt is one of the most versatile vocalists in metal today
the effect this album has on you is surreal, you both enjoy the music but also feel what they are saying, the lyrics are beautiful and really relates to my life, well done trivium
I hope people don't take these lyrics too literally. this song is literally someone's downfall into antisocial depression. showing your feelings is a human thing that everyone does, and people that don't show it are afraid to in an ironic way. to avoid depression we need to feel like we have an effect on people and to find people to connect with. not through texting or facebook or anything digital. but real face to face bonding. Gotta make that your goal to find people that make you feel comfortable with who you are, or what you want to do or how you want to grow. sometimes you don't have those people in the beginning, but there are 5 million other people out there. "Only a fool plays with the hand he's delt" - Twisted Fate
xd that Twisted Fate quote
Then what does `the end is nigh`` and ``its not gonna end the way you want`` stands for???
+Benstuppi I certainly didn't look down here expecting to see League of Legends quoted in a philosophical monologue on depression, suicide & life advice. :-P
I always thought of this album as a concept album about the war for cybertron and that this the final fight between megatron and Optimus prime before they leave cybertron
The song can mean what ever you think it means to you. That is the beauty of music. Its about how it moves you.
This song is just a pure gem, best one in Vengeance Falls for sure and one of the best they ever played!
amazing song n love the intro
This song and Strife are the best songs off the Album.
4:49 this riff is so awesome
Hands down this is the best trivium song on the album and my favorite of them all. That solo at the end still gives me the chills.🤘
If they kept it going and kept building up for a couple more minutes, this song would be damn near perfect
Feel this song on a spiritual level.
unpopular opinion but VF is one of my favourite Trivium albums
Best song on the album.. The first 60 seconds are so badass
One of the best on the album.
Love the guitar riff in this, mind you I love everything in this song, one of my favorites.
Most melancholic intro ever!
love the beginning vocals
THE END IS NIGH LITERALY
This aged well
-from 2024 when the world is literally ending
Exactly and no way to heal, those 3 are the best songs in the album by far.
4:14 amazıng
by far this is the best Trivium album.....outstanding !!!!!
1:42 - Hell to the yeah!!
I already loved it from the beginning, but that just made it a million times better.
Beautiful ending
23 dislikes... Oh lord its only getting worse!
It's their opinion, and none of them are forcing it onto you.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Tbh most of the ppl who disliked this are Trivium fans.
Usually when people do song title/lyric puns, it's straight up cringy... but this is fucking gold lmao
Four years later only 93 Dislikes
My favorite song on the album. Matt's voice is haunting in the intro and the breakdown is incredible.
Not a huge fan of this album, but this song is fantastic.
This song would have easily been a 10/10 if they didn't fade out that beautiful guitar solo towards the end of the song.
Im gonna be honest I like the rawness of his voice at the start of the song. I feel as if too many artists are doctoring there voices too much these days. For American Metal these guys really do deliver, I tend to lean more towards the Euro metal groups but these guys are pretty good!
Heard the inro was, was like "is this trivium?" XD loved it!
Love the way this builds up to the solo at the end.
the intro is PERFECT, love this guitar instrumental
This album is a masterpiece
04:14 Its the way I fucking love this band!
Omg favorite song on this bad ass album amazing matts voice is epic!!!
This song grew on me. Love It!
no no no no...
now it will never be unheard -.-
Damn I love this song. Year after year Trivium is still one of my go to bands
best song to close the album.
He is gifted So much God Given Talent Trivium Rocks On All Levels Crank Up The Volume All The Way Up And Tear The Knob Off BRING IT TRIVIUM !!!!!!!!
Another brilliant composition by Trivium!
is very bealtifull this song
My favorite Song and álbum.
There we go, lyrics, thank you Roadrunner Records, you're great !
best part of the song is the ending... that guitar god damn so good
Is it me that only gets chills when the outro starts?
This is the soundtrack to the world right now
Full acoustic version please?
Its got everything a good song should, emotion, anger, beautiful and hard instrument playing
This gives me the chills, awesome!!!
Lovelovelove this song!!!
What a beautiful song!
thanks Trivium please live in Ireland
the shogun of the album love it thank you
Beautiful intro ❤
I kind of don't get why people have such odd expectations of bands. I get that people always want the next album to be better and heavier than anything that came before it but something different just makes everyone disappointed. The band has the right to take things in a new direction. Shouldn't have such expectations in the first place
they always make their new albums unique, and not necessarily heavier. which i think works in their favour, but people tend to judge them quickly and then once they have listened to it a few times they begin to really like it
I get chills every time I listen to this song.
The intro is the best part
This is good, more dynamics in one song. Good job Trivium.
4:15
+Shahan Ali Pranto Do you believe in a united India?
+It'sAppleTime NO.
Jack Sparrow :( Thank venu malish
5:00
this is the best vocal ive ever heard from Matt Heafy.
The beginning part where the vocals go super deep, it was a vocal effect from the studio. It still sounded cool though
Showing off that baritone. Aw yeah.
You can feel the sorrow in this song
When I first heard Vengeance Falls I was very hesitant, was a bit worried after In Waves but it's grown on me so much. Killer album!
One of my favorites from Vengeance Falls!!
no song should be this good
"Its only getting worse"...truer words have never been said
