- This is your starting point to make your very own Farahan Shawl! The shawl is worked using the Mosaic Crochet technique and the result is a luscious, over sized shawl that you are sure to love. In this video I will go over each shawl and model them so you can see how they look when worn.

The Farahan Mosaic Crochet Shawl can be made in ANY yarn, with any hook size you prefer. I am listing my suggestions for each yarn size I recommend for the Shawl below, along with measurements, yarns I used, etc.

You can use any yarn that you want, below are the yarns I used in the samples shown and all information regarding the sizes of your finished shawl in each recommended yarn size.
Size 1 yarn (Lace Weight): Hook Size: 2.75mm to 3.25mm; COLOR A: 700 yards; COLOR B: 700 yards; 1400 yards total
Finished Shawl Measurements: 57” wide at straight edge x 26.5” long at center point
Gauge: 19 ST x 15 rows = 4” x 4” with a 2.75mm hook (used 575 yards per color)
Yarn colors used:
Schachenmayr Regia Premium Merino Yak 4-ply in color # 07514)
YarnArt Pacific in color # 301
Size 3 yarn (DK/ Light Weight): Hook Size: 3.75mm to 4.5mm; COLOR A: 900 yards; COLOR B: 900 yard; 1800 yards total
Finished Shawl Measurements: 68” wide at straight edge x 36” long at center point
Gauge: 15 ST x 16 rows = 4” x 4” with a 4mm hook ( used 700 yards per color)
Yarn colors used:
King Cole Pricewise in Mustard (color A);
Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK in color Topaz (color B)
Stylecraft Special DK in Cornish Blue (2nd color B, Medium blue in middle pattern of Shawl)
Size 4 yarn (Worsted Weight/Aran yarn): Hook Size 5mm to 5.5mm; COLOR A: 1200 yards; COLOR B: 1200 yards; Approximately 2400 yards total
Finished Shawl Measurements: 84” wide at straight edge X 42” long at center point
Gauge: 13 ST x 9 Rows = 4” x 4” with a 5mm hook (used 1062 yards per color)
Yarn colors used: Craft Smart in colors Raspberry (color A) and Clay ( color B)
Hook size: I have provided suggested hook sizes above for each yarn weight however you can use the hook size you prefer for the yarn you are using. - Навчання та стиль

I am novice to crochet and have never done mosaic crochet, but I definitely want to try. I love the patterns of mosaic crochet.
I am sure I have enough: I have tons of thick yarn I don't know what to do with it, so, a cut down size should make a large enough. I have also been collecting lots of of size 2 - 3 yarns.
Go for it, Courtney taught me how to do Mosaic Crochet, I had no idea what I was doing 😂 but she explains everything so well that before you know it, you will have picked it, it’s actually easier than I thought it was going to be, Good luck 😊

The shawls are all gorgeous. I do really like the one done with the #1 weight yarn. I can really appreciate what it was like to do because I'm using super fine yarn to crochet a summer sweater.

I have finally gotten to this project in my todo list!! So glad I did😍 This is the most beautiful Shawl!! I would also love to make it a little longer. Mine, done with a 4wt yarn is only 34 inches long in the back. What would you suggest I do to add a little length?
Hi Cindy! Wow that's a big difference in size! The easiest thing for you to do would be to add apache tears or the stitch combo I'm using on my new shawl that ive been working on and showing in my lives. You would work the sequence 2sc in the first stitch, then 1sc, 1dc all the way till the end of the row, ending with 2sc in the last stitch. Since we are increasing every row you can just keep doing that row after row. I'm working on the tutorial for the new shawl soon amd will post a progress pic tomorrow on my community tab so you can see the 1sc,1dc and how it looks.
Another suggestion would be to add a solid section with maybe a stripe of your contrast color as part of the final rows to bring it to size.

What stitch did you use for your gauge swatch? Single Crochet? Double Crochet? Something else?
Overlay Mosaic since that's what we are working in and these patterns are available as flat tutorials on the channel. Then to test further I did a sc swatch as well since our stitches are essentially no taller than a sc.

Yes I do, I have a lot of beginners that work my patterns. And I mean they are brand new to crochet, not just overlay Mosaic Crochet like this. Definitely try it, don't be scared of any projects, you can do it. 😘😁

Yes, it's a variegated color transitioning yarn. The color changes are on the shorter side. 😁
