🪄HOOK SIZE: I am using an E size Nelsonwood hook in this tutorial, you can find more info here:
www.nelsonwood.net/store/p603...
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 4.5mm
Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5.5mm.
Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
SIZE 1 Lace Weight - 2.75mm to 3mm hook used on slouchy hat
THE YARN: I'm using size 3 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
Color A: Lion Brand Mandala in Nifflers (Color A) ; Stylecraft Special DK in Empire (Color B)
HOW MUCH YARN FOR YOUR PROJECT: The best way to figure out how much yarn you need is to create a one repeat swatch and then measure how much yarn you used of EACH color. This video walks you through the math: • How much YARN is NEEDE...
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
Project info and starting - Working FLAT:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 20 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 44 and had 43 stitches at the end of my first Foundation (Row 1).
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
Baby blanket: 104 chains depending on yarn size used
Place mats: 64 chains
Table Runner: 64 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
Throw blanket : 164 chains, yarn size will affect total width and the number of repeats is up to you and will determine total length
Tote or Throw Pillow: 64 chains, yarn size 4, 4.5mm hook create 2 and seam together
Makeup or Notions bag: 44, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
Scarf: 44 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. Wide scarf: 68 Chains; Shawl: 84 chains
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 20 and slip stitch to the first chain. begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into) and follow the Repeat as given in the video.
IN THE ROUND projects - Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video:
Slouchy Hat: 100 chains, size 1 yarn with a 2.75mm hook
Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used and tension chain 96
Bag or Tote: 60 chains (small) to 120 chains (L) depending on desired size
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 40 to 60 chains
You can create any project you like from Mosaic Crochet, these are just a few suggestions!
Stitches used in this project: Back Loop Single Crochet and Front Loop Double Crochet (drop down double crochet as I like to call it).

Wow this pattern is gorgeous! I'm finishing up another one of your patterns, #32
Hi Courtney! Another beautiful pattern! Your imagination is endless!! Thanks for putting all of your mosaic patterns in a playlist, so easy to find. I remember the 1st Native Bliss C. A. My 1st successful attempt at mosaic crochet. My 1st throw which I treasure. Have made blankets for all of my 7 grandkids since using many of your patterns. Because I have arthritis in my hand I have to use a bigger hook, but still looks amazing! 👍🥰
BELLISISISIMO !!
Y muy bien explicado 😃

OMG Courtney love it to death now what? Oh I know, hit my stash grab a hook!
Thank you!!! I'm working on the half diamond for this as another option. This full diamond and the half diamond together create a striped chevron pattern as the secondary pattern 😁 I'm hoping to have the tutorial out next week for it. Enjoy!!!!
I love all you do, you're amazing. Do you have any beanie patterns? Or scarves but really would love to do a mosaic beanie and your tutorials are always so easy to follow!
Hi Justine! And thank you!! You are always so sweet! ❤️ I don't have any tutorials on hats but I just make them working in the round. I use Size 1 yarn because I like a lot of pattern repeats on my hats and I use the smaller patterns mostly but you can use any of the patterns and any size yarn. If I remember right on a pattern with a multiple of 12 in size 1 yarn I chained 96 to form my ring and I work bottom up. If you use bigger yarn you will have to fit against your head and figure out the best chain count to fit you. Let me know if you need more help, I can post pics to of the hats I made last year for winter. If I need to do a tutorial I can but it would be a few weeks out. 😘😘😘
@@FiberFoxStudios you're amazing! I'm trying to work out in my head though how to decrease as you go uptowards the top of your head or do you just make a tube? Thanks again. 🤗
@@juzbuzzable So I just make a tube with no decrease in the mosaic portion itself because that is super tricky and I have not found a way to do it where we don't end up with a weird looking part where the pattern just doesn't work out. I've done the top of my hats 2 different ways. Most of the time I just work the top of the hat in normal crochet (usually DC's with a standard decrease) in one of the colors from the pattern i did for the main portion of the hat. I like to use the same color that was the outline on the shapes in the pattern portion. You then just work exactly like you would on any other hat, decreasing until there is just a tiny hole at the top of the hat. The OTHER way is a tube in the mosaic pattern the entire way up, then i thread a yarn needle and weave in every 3 or so stitches all the way around at the top, then I use that yarn that I thread in to cinch the top closed, doing it this way does cause it to pucker up at the top of the hat, which looks perfect for a hat that you add a pompom too. You can play with the amount of stitches you skip when you are going to close off the hat, i just recommend keeping it consistent, so if you skip 5, you need to skip 5 all the way around, etc. Hope this helps but if i have confused you let me know and i'll do a video.
@@FiberFoxStudios yes it does make sense! I'm going to try the decrease method 1st because that's what I'm used to, although a little pom could be sooo cute with the tube method too! Ive never done the tube method. I have a tiny head (seriously 52cm - 😆 I guess I'll need less yarn)
Thank you again!
Hi wanted to know where you got your hook from love it btw would want to make a pillow with this stitch mosaic looks beautiful
It's a Nelsonwood hook, I put a link to the specific one I use in the video description on all my videos where a fancy hook is used ❤️😁
@@FiberFoxStudios thank you 😊
@@lady4775 😘😘😘❤️ welcome!
Hey Courtney what kind of pattern would I put around for the border of my brothers blanket I don’t see a border in your patterns can you help me find one please #FiberFuckStudio Courtney🤗🥰
