- This tutorial is done in the Overlay Mosaic Crochet Technique. In this tutorial I will teach you how to crochet this eye catching Dyad Shawl in Mosaic Crochet. This is absolutely the easiest Shawl to make and is perfect for anyone no matter your skill level.
This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 2 + 4 however we are making a triangle shawl in this video. For those who want to work flat or in the round your multiple is 2, to work flat add 4 more chains to the end of your chain count.
ROW START TIMES PROVIDED BELOW.
TO REPEAT THE DESIGN FOR LARGER PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ROW 3 as many times as needed to achieve your desired size.

Bandana Cowl: 21" at widest point before folding, 13" at center point. After folding and securing the 2 points together my Cowl is 11" wide at top edge.

🪄HOOK SIZE: I am using a 4mm size Nelsonwood hook in this tutorial, you can find more info here:
www.nelsonwood.net/store/c1/S...
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 4.5mm
Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5.5mm.
Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
SIZE 1 Lace Weight - 2.75mm to 3mm hook used on slouchy hat
THE YARN: I'm using size 3 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
Color A: Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK in Grey
Color B: Lion Brand Mandala SCRAPS FROM THE FOLLOWING COLORWAYS: Centaur, Pegasus, Spirit & Nifflers
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.

Hi Courtney! I love this project so much that I may have to try it. Loved the bandana too! Super cool way to do the tails. Thank you for sharing!
Many shawls of various kinds under my belt, but never ever tried Mosiac for anything, even though I am 55 yrs old and have been crocheting since the age of 7, have made some complex items and designed a few as well, I've always been intimidated by Mosiac. Thank you thank you thank you! You've cured me :) God bless!💜💯
Very nice again😍
This was such a nice video and you explained the technique so well. I want to try bandanna and hopefully make a few for Christmas!
Thank you so much!! 💙💙💙
Hi Courtney, love this pattern! Im a beginner with mosaic Crochet. But would like to know how to make this into a blanket. Can you please do a video with this pattern making a beautiful blanket? Thank you so much for your talents and for sharing this wonderful shawl!!
Thank you so much! And I do plan to show the Dyad stitch worked flat as a tutorial soon. I'm most likely using it on my messenger bag as the handle and sides. In case you want to give it a go: Your multiple on this one is 2 +4 and the set up rows 1 and 2 are just backloop only sc, all rows begin with a traditional sc in the first stitch, row 3 is where you start the repeat stitches that i worked in this video, 1sc, 1dc. Row end will have 2 stitches left like all my designs ending with a +4 so you restart the repeat for 1 stitch and then traditional sc in the final stitch of the row, Row 4 repeat is 1dc, 1sc. You repeat rows 3 and 4 until desired size. Hope that helps! 😁😁😁💙🦊
😍😍😍
I love this pattern. To make a Poncho on the round how many doble crochet have to go on the corner?
Thank you for the great tutorial!
I like this mosaic crochet design.
Can this stich be done on rectangular shawl as well and still have the same design?
Thank you and yes it can, I haveca seperate tutorial for flat and in the round that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/p6nxoeRbl4M/v-deo.html
@@FiberFoxStudios Thank you very much!!❤️
@@FiberFoxStudios I am making a hat with this stitch design. It looks beautiful. Thank you for the inspiration!
@@martha35077 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm so happy you are living how your project is turning out. Wish I could see it 😍😍
@@FiberFoxStudios Thank you!
The hat is looking great. Not finished yet, but it sure will turn out well. I plan to do back loop only on the decrease round. The brim and the crown will be the same color. The middle section will have the beautiful design I got inspired by you!
Thanks again!❤️
love this shawl I am about 3/4 done. Do you block your work? People keep asking me about blocking. thank you
Thank you so much, I'm so happy you are enjoying this one! On blocking, I never block my mosaics, I rarely block any of my work to be honest. Lace work I'll block if needed, but on something like this it's not necessary to me. If you want to block you definitely can💙🦊
@@FiberFoxStudios thank you
I have tried doing this 3 times and i cant the middle to look like ypurs, both sides meeting I have spaces like tbhe starting V.
You can email me pictures of your work and I can try to look and see where you are gping wrong, fiberfoxstudios@gmail.com
Please put DYAD SHAWL HELP as subject, include front and back with up close so I can see you work clearly.
Can you crochet a Poncho?
Good news, I started designing a poncho version last week. Once it's done I'll do a video for it. 😁💙
@@FiberFoxStudios Can’t wait,,, specially now that the weather is changing. Perfect timing 😀
@@FiberFoxStudios Any idea when you’ll upload the Poncho? I’ve been waiting for it.
