    Welcome to Mosaic Monday!
    This tutorial is worked in the Overlay Mosaic Crochet! Technique!
    This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 16 + 4. ROW START TIMES PROVIDED BELOW. IN THE ROUND IS WORKED BY ONLY CHAINING IN MULTIPLE OF 16. See the How to Combine Different Multiples video to learn how to use several designs in one project: • Mosaic Monday - How to...
    Need to know what to do about the tails/ends? Check out the HOW TO playlist here: • HOW TO : Mosaic Chart ...
    TO REPEAT THE DESIGN FOR LARGER PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ROWS 1 THRU 26 AND THEN WORK ROWS 3 THRU 26AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WOULD LIKE FOR THE PROJECT YOU CHOOSE.
    🌈COLOR CHANGE: You can change color B at Row 6 to a new color when starting the repeat rows. Color B can also be changed at Row 18, if desired. We are incorporating tapestry crochet with Mosaic Crochet to work the color change and this is demonstrated at the end of the video. See timestamps below.
    🌞The CHART for this is in my Etsy shop which you can find here, the PDF INCLUDES: CHARTS, WRITTEN ROW REPEATS, & UPSIDE DOWN version of the heart is included:

    🦊PROJECTS🦊:
    Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
    Baby blanket: 116 chains
    Place mats: 84 chains
    Table Runner: 68 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
    Throw blanket : 164 chains
    Tote or Throw Pillow: 68 to 84 chains depends on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
    Rug: 132 chains
    Scarf: 36 to 52 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. work until desired length
    Shawl: 100 chains, you are working the total width, and will repeat the design until you reach the desired length
    🎯IN THE ROUND🎯- Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video IN THE ROUND IS WORKED IN THE MULTIPLE ONLY, YOU DO NOT ADD 4 STITCHES TO CHAIN COUNT:
    Makeup or Notions bag/ Clutch: 64 chains for small; 128 chains for large
    Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used, tension and hook: chain 96 (size 4 yarn); chain 144 (size 2 or 3 yarn)
    Large Project Bag or Tote: 192 chains for large tote/bag
    Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 64 chains
    Cowl: 128 chains
    HAT IN SIZE 1 YARN - Women's: 96 chains
    🚩HOOK SIZE: I am using a G hook in this tutorial, this is a Nelsonwood hook - Brazilian Bloodwood, I am NOT affiliated or sponsored. Please visit his website for more info: www.nelsonwood.net/store/c38/...
    🦊I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
    3 DK yarn : 3 mm to 4.5mm
    Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5mm
    Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
    🌈THE YARN🌈: I'm using size 3 DK weight yarn, any brand will work as well as any size. I used during the video: color B is Hayfield Bonus Dk in Coral Color # 0644 & Cygnet DK in Cream is color A.
    other colors used: Stylecraft Special DK in Raspberry, Mint, Teal, Sky Blue.
    Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
    Project info/starting:
    To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 16 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 36 and had 35 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row FOR FLAT

    Time stamp 1:19:46 so the purpose of working a modified DC is the color not being worked gets tacked down right? Because otherwise it would be just floating around in the back of your work until used.

    Rather than using the anchored double crochet, when I come to a single crochet that is approximately in the center of a long series of double crochets on the row below, I extend that single crochet through the current stitch's back loop and continue down into the top loop of a stitch two rows below (same color). I make that particular sc a little looser to make up for extending it down. It works like a charm and looks nice on front and back. And no big flaps of dc on the back sticking out. If the double crochet series below is particularly long, more than one sc can be done like this spaced over the stitches.

    • @jeweliedee4299
      @jeweliedee4299 2 роки тому

      To be clearer, this is how I do it: Insert the hook into the back loop of the current stitch as you get ready to make the sc, and then keep going down the back of the work with your hook to catch the top loop of the stitch 2 rows below (again, on the back of the work), then yo and complete the sc as usual, just a little bit looser. I don't use it for every stitch, just use it to tack every 3rd or 4th stitch, depending on how many dc's there are in a row.

      The normal complaint is my videos are too long and I go over too much "beginner" stuff, don't need to show things over and over etc. There are videos geared more toward those who have never done this type of crochet if you want to check those out, begginner friendky is in the titles. Otherwise if you have specific questions on where you are getting stuck I'm happy to answer them. 😊

    Love this. How many skeins or yards of each color is needed to make a blanket?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому +1

      HI! You can use any yarn you want, hook size will depend on the yarn you chose. Your yardage for each color depends on your project but Mosaic Crochet is not a huge yarn eater. You will need approximately the same amount of each color so using a blanket as an example, you can look at standard yardage guidelines online for blankets and you would split the yardage between your colors. So for a Throw, 2400 yards in Dk weight, you'd need 1200 of color A and 1200 of color B. 3 5mm or 4mm hook. If you need exact amount let's say you are ordering yarn, then you would work a swatch in the size yarn and hook you want to use, measure it and decide how many repeats wide and tall you are going to make the project, then measure the yarn from your swatch and you can get a closer figure. Here is a video from another creator about calculating how much yarn needed for any project: ua-cam.com/video/ZM9oEkDI7Ho/v-deo.html
      I hope this helps!

    Vielen lieben Dank für deine wunderschöne Anleitung. Du hast das sehr, sehr gut erklärt, dass man selbst ohne Sprache gut versteht was du erklärst. Ich habe selten eine so tolle Anleitung gesehen. Du bist ein sehr guter Lehrer.
    Das Einzige was ich nicht verstanden habe ist die Vervierfachung des Musters, wenn man mehr Herzen also die Decke breiter machen möchte.
    Könntest du mir eventuell erklären wie man das auf eine größere Breite hochrechnen muss? Ich bin noch Anfänger. Irgendwie mache ich das falsch.
    Der Anfang war
    2 sC +6 dC + 1sC +6 dC das wäre für mich für ein Muster 15 Maschen.
    Stimmt das? Das müsste ich dann auf meine Maschen aufteilen... aber ich bekomme das nie hin dass der rechte und linke Rand gleich aussehen.
    Wo steckt mein Denkfehler.
    Vielen Dank im Voraus für deine Hilfe liebe Grüße und schöne Feiertage Katja ❤️

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  Рік тому +1

      Thank you sooooo much and happy holidays to you too!
      The multiple for the pattern is 16+4. So to make it larger, quadruple it in your case, you would multiply, 16 (multiple) x 4 repeats = 64 +4 (the second part of the pattern multiole) = 68, need it bigger then you just increase 16x 5, etc. Add your 4 stitches to the end of you count that you get from doing your math and your row end will match with the row start.
      Row 3 repeat and all your repeats going forward are made up by 16 stitches so you are missing a stitch in your example that you gave. So row 3 our repeat is 8sc, 1dc, 7sc = 16 stitches. End of all your rows will have 2 stitches left and you just work the first stitch of repeat and then sc in the complete stitch in the very last one. I hope this helps. At Row end we do the recaps so you can check your work and make notes. I hope this helps you!!! 😘😘😘💙🦊

    Hi Cortney… a question pls.. I’m a little confused when I changed the colour B I did as you showed in video in row 6 I brought in another colour B. Then when I do the next row do I start the video from row 7 (it seems obvious as it’s after row 6 😂) then I continue up to row 18 when I bring in another colour B? I’m lost in this part.. sorry 😞

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому +1

      You are understanding correct from your comment, you can change at Row 6, then you work in your new color B from row 6 thru 17 just as im doing in the video, then at Row 18 you can color change again. You continue on through the end of the rows (Row 26) and if you were restarting and continuing you would restart the row repeat over and continue with the last color B you switched to back at Row 18, working up to row 6 again where you could change color again. It's just a color change so you don't skip or omit any of the rows. Hope this helps!

    is there an area the advises on the amount of yarn needed for the projects? or have I missed? thank you!

      There is a video on my HOW TO playlist that is from another creator that goes over how to calculate the yarn needed for your project. You are going to make a swatch and measure the yarn used for each color. She goes over it really well ua-cam.com/video/ZM9oEkDI7Ho/v-deo.htmlsi=ibQKToK_07jZ4FPh
      Hope this helps!! 💙💙💙🦊

      There is a link in the video description on each video to wherever I bought mine from. Most of them are Nelsonwood hooks www.nelsonwood.net

      Насправді я хотіла запитати що робити якщо один край полотна закручується всередину.?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому +1

      @@user-sb7ip7tk7r Ваше натяг може бути занадто тугим, що спричиняє його скручування. Ви можете змочити його і закріпити шпильками, щоб виправити це. У майбутньому підвищте розмір гачка, коли починаєте проект, і це також вам допоможе.

    So in mosaic crochet you don't turn your work?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому

      In overlay Mosaic you do not turn your work. I only teach overlay Mosaic Crochet. There is a type called inset Mosaic Crochet that is worked differently and you do turn your work on that type
