  • Welcome to Mosaic Monday!
This tutorial is done in the Overlay Mosaic Crochet Technique. In this tutorial I will teach you how to crochet this eye catching Mosaic Crochet design as well as working your color change using Tapestry crochet.

    ko-fi.com/fiberfoxstudios
This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 10 + 4. ROW START TIMES PROVIDED BELOW. In the round info also below.
YOU MUST WORK USING CHART 4 from the chart set when working with the video and chart.
TO REPEAT THE DESIGN FOR LARGER PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ROWS 1 THRU 22 AND THEN WORK ROWS 3 THRU 22 AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WOULD LIKE FOR THE PROJECT YOU CHOOSE. See more info below on working in the round.
COLOR CHANGE: when you work your next repeat you can add an additional Color B at Row 4. A tutorial on how to work 2 color B's using tapestry crochet combined with Mosaic Crochet is included in this video. Please see the color change portion of the video here:

    PROJECTS:
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
Baby blanket: 124 chains depending on yarn size used
    Place mats: 84 chains
Table Runner: 84 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
    Throw blanket : 164
Tote or Throw Pillow: 74 or 114 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
Makeup or Notions bag: 44 to 64 chains, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
Scarf: 34 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. work until desired length
Shawl: 84 chains, you are working the total width, and will repeat the design until you reach the desired length
IN THE ROUND- Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video IN THE ROUND IS WORKED IN THE MULTIPLE ONLY, YOU DO NOT ADD 4 STITCHES TO CHAIN COUNT:
Makeup or Notions bag/ Clutch: 70 chains
Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used, tension and hook: chain 110 or 140
Cup Coozie or Candle band: 30 chains using size size 4 yarn is suggested
Bag or Tote: 140 chains for large tote/bag
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 40 to 50 chains
    Cowl: 130 chains
HOOK SIZE: I am using a 4 mm hook in this tutorial, this is a Nelsonwood hook, I am not affiliated or sponsored. Please visit the Nelsonwood website or Etsy shop for more info, mine is a Green Star Flower with Green Holly wood ends: www.nelsonwood.net/store/p444...
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
    3 DK yarn : 3.25mm to 4.5mm
    Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5.5mm.
    Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
THE YARN: I'm using size 3 DK yarn Stylecraft Special DK, any brand will work as well as any size, any fiber content:
    Color A Parma Violet
    Color B Storm Blue
My larger sample at the beginning of the video is in the above colors and Stylecraft Special DK: Cornflower Blue, Spearmint & Teal and I used Cygnet DK shade 256 Cream.
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
    Project info and starting:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 10 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 34 and had 33 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row FOR FLAT.
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 10 and slip stitch to the first chain. Begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into] and follow the Repeat as given in the video.

Love the pattern. You did a great job explaining the tapestry part. Love that you gave the other channel the credit and sending us there to learn another technique.

I loved that you showed how to do another type of moasic crochet. At first I wasnt going to try it, but it looked so beautiful. I knew I could count on learning from you. Your teaching skills are so great. I can always understand. (Doing is another issue.) It took at least an hour before I could get it. But at last I did. Thank you for being so patient on every video You present.

Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤All my tutorials have the link to the etsy shop down in the video description, it will take you to the listing for that specific designs chart set, if written row repeat info is included in the pattern it will specifically say written included in the listing title, otherwise it specifies charts only. If you have any questions just ask!😁

Is colour A that you started with in row 1 is the pattern colour? I struggle to see which is the colour used for the pattern and which is the base colour.. sorry but if you can clarify I would appreciate it 🥰

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому

Color A is the outline of the shape/pattern, so Grey outline and then the background of our shapes is blue in this case. Hope this helps. ❤

Hi fiber fox sorry for all the questions but do you have a book with your patterns in that people can buy instead of buying a single pattern

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому +1

Ask all the questions you like, no need to apologize! I don't have a book yet but I do give discounts, I create a coupon code for people when they want to buy all the patterns that gives them a discount. There are 40 or so patterns in the shop but you don't have to buy them all. Once you figure out which ones you want just put them in the cart and send me a message on etsy for a code and I'll make one for you based on your order. No rush at all. Just whenever you want to, if you decide that will work for you.
