The older man at the head of the table was a 1950's comedian Milton Berle. He was the uncle of their manager. He was in a couple of RATT's videos. RATT lead vocal Stephen Pearcy. Members of RATT were friends with the members of Motley Crue RATT songs "Lay It Down" Dance" :"I Want A Woman" "You're In Love"
Marshall Berle was fired in late '78. He was supposedly a huge jerk & a mostly absentee manager. What probably ultimately got him canned was recording sex acts by the band and screening it at Warner Bros HQ for shocked female staffers there.
Warren DeMartini (the first solo) was the lead guitarist for RATT and IMO was one of the ELITE players of that generation of rock guitarists --- the guy has loads of talent and tons of original, killer riffs. Robbin Crosby played rhythm guitar for the most part but could definitely hammer out solos as a lead. He also was an integral part of their song writing. Unfortunately he passed away in 2002 from complications due to HIV and extended drug abuse. IMO, together they made one of the best (if not the best) guitar duos around during the 80s. Whether you love or hate hair metal, in most circles these two guys are well respected and appreciated.
@williamoat8102 Not, just, your opinion. It is an, absolute, fact (and established) that: Warren DeMartini was (and remains) one of the "elite players" of that period and, simply, overall. RATT fought to get him to join the band (instead of returning to college)! Yes. Robbin was also capable of ripping in his own style, but contributed more voluminously (and importantly) as a song-writer. DeMartini is, easily, in a class with players like: EVH and Rhoads. 🤘🤘 Total🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra Agree, 100%. Even Lynch has said before that he went to Warren at times for tips on certain songs. I'm 62, loved this song and video when it came out but I didn't get what was up with that girl either. If you liked Ratt, check out their song "Giving Yourself Away."
Ratt's 1st 3 albums were ALL fire, but let's just listen to the 1 minor radio-friendly hit they had. The Morning After In Your Direction Wanted Man Never Use Love Between The Eyes Dangerous but Worth the Risk 7th Avenue Body Talk Take A Chance Slip of the Lip
Thank you guys for bringing back an amazing memory from my past. I was down the beach, in Ocean City Maryland, with a bunch of my friends years ago and we're all older than you and some of my friends are musicians and we were walking past one of those arcades that are on the boardwalk and they had one of those drum machine booths that you could pay, go in and play the drums to a song. So it was kind of like karaoke on the drums. So my friend Joi plays the drums and I told her I would pay for her if she goes in and plays a song but I get to pick the song. Well this is the song that I picked and she killed it and a bunch of us are all outside the booth while she's playing this song and you can hear it from the speakers out onto the boardwalk and we're like banging our heads while she's playing the drums and the music is just so loud. At that time I don't even think they had a camera phones so we didn't get it on film. It's a Memory that always comes up when we've had a couple or few too many to drink and just said what great times we had acting like 13-year-olds when we were really like in our late thirties or early forties. Life Lesson... Always stay young at heart and don't let the angry people try and spoil your fun. 😊
In the 70s, when they started, it was called MICKEY RATT, a pun on mickey mouse. By the 80s, they shortened it to Ratt. Although this is their 1st album, a year before this, they did an EP with heavier versions of some of the songs. Try " wanted man" or " lack of communication" next. In 91, they scored a top 40 hit " givin yourself away", where the lead singer shows a different side of his voice
I forgot Milton Berle was in this video. He was the old guy at the head of the table and also the woman (in drag of course). He was an extremely famous comedian who sometimes played in drag.
milton berle was the old man in the video, a lot of youngsters don't remember him, I wasn't around when he was on t.v. in his high point; but I do remember his name.
One of the 1st few metal songs I ever saw a video for, Ratt, Quiet Riot- Cum on Feel the Noize' and Def Leppard -"Photograph" were the first time the kinda cool music I was into had videos. Especially as I lived out in antenna-on-the-roof TV with only 4 channels farm land. Like Casey Kasem's Top 10 Video countdown, once a week.
I remember staying up on Friday and Saturday nights to watch this video on a show called "Night Flight" They had a 3 hour of rotations of videos and I would stay up to watch the video as it really intrigued me! Love Ratt
Im amazed this was the first time you guys reacted to Ratt. Round and Round was their biggest hit. As far as the video goes the old man was Milton Berle. Back in the 60s and 70s Milton Berle, actor/comedian, one of his comedic routines was cross dressing. I don't know if you noticed, but he was also the older lady in the video. Band members: Stephen Pearcy - Singer Warren DeMartini - Lead Guitarist Robbin Crisby [RIP] - Rhythm/Lead Guitars Juan Croucier - Bassist Bobby Blotzer - Drums As far as the video goes, I think it was trying to portray a rich, high society uptight family, that had a darker side to it. Darker side being metal. If you noticed the butler was wearing a studded wristband. It was playing on people's notion that hard rock or metal was taboo. At least that is how I interperated it. Other Ratt tunes to check out include: Lack of Communication, Back For More, Lay It Down, You're In Love, Body Talk, Looking For Love, Dance, Way Cool Jr, I Wanna Woman, that's a good start.
Ratt, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard were the first heavy metal/heavy rock bands to start getting airplay on mainstream radio back in the day. I even remember this song being played in dance clubs. Remember guys...80's videos were strange ( I love them), but trying to figure them out could drive you crazy.
Love you guys' reactions and attention to the music. Yes, that guitar solo is epic--one of my favs. Actually, dual guitar leads are prevalent in the 80's and 70's. Lots of 80's hard rock has 2 lead guitars, ex. Queensryche, Skid Row, Tesla, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Stryper, Cinderella, Twisted Sister, Night Ranger...etc. BTW, I saw Ratt twice back in 1985 and 1990. I almost saw them a 3rd time in 1986 with Bon Jovi opening for them, but got sick with tonsillitis---I've fretted over that for 38 years now. That was right before Bon Jovi hit the stratosphere with their epic 3rd album. I really enjoy your reactions,,,very engaged and genuine.
Great Reaction guys. I know you guys are fans of George Lynch's guitar playing so I know you're definitely going to Like Warren DeMartini's guitar playing as well. Lay It Down, Nobody Rides For Free and Back For More are some songs by Ratt that are definitely worth checking out
We’re Not Gonna Take It- Twisted Sister. Gents watch the video with the song. It was an anthem for us 80s teenagers and is an iconic song. Love to see you react to it!!
Ah yes; my da favorite band of all time; I graduated hs in 1986 so I was there for their rise and fall to grunge. This was the band who inspired me to buy my first or many guitars. Warren DeMartini was the lead guitarist who became my 🐐 guitar hero. Round and Round broke mainstream topping out of the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1984 at #12. Their first single release of their double platinum album, Out of the Cellar, which is a masterpiece. If you liked this check out the album. Back For More, Lack of Communication and Wanted Man, to name a few are fire. I’ve seen them live 3 times between 1985-1988 and the put on helluva show anywhere they went. They and Motley Crue pioneered the glam metal genre.
My favorite hair metal band of the 80's. Loved their sound, their style and their videos. Bad ass bunch that play gritty rock n roll. The old guy is Milton Berle, a famous comedian whose nephew managed Ratt. Stephen Pearcy has a great voice for this style of music. Warren DiMartini is one of the most underrated guitarist out there. He is the guy that dropped onto the table. Robin Crosby (RIP) was a good guitarist but not to the level of Warren who was 18 years old and was considered a prodigy as a guitarist. Bobby Blotzer is the band's drummer and he can play! Juan Courcier is on bass. But the band imploded due to contentious personalities. They have gotten back together on & off over the years. Check out - "Dance", "I want a woman", "Your in Love", "Lack of Communication", "Way Cool Jr", "Nobody Rides For Free (from Point Break soundtrack)"
TwinsReact, I loved many rock bands and once there was a ? which rock band is your favorite? Well, there was so many great rock bands it was really tough to pick only one. I started listening to rock and roll music in 1960's so I have heard many great rock and roll bands, but it is great watching you Lucas and you Samuel who very young react to these rock and roll bands from many years ago, many of these men and women are in their 60's and 80's today. Myself I am 66 years of age. I used to get rock and roll magazine and read about the rock and roll bands plus back in the 1960's they had covers that held records inside and it tell the story about the bands history. Today the internet tells their stories. Thank you, for all these reaction videos.

Most early 80s videos were on shoestring budgets and nonsense most of the time. Don't think too hard on what "it's about"
