I had dry eyes for 11 years
Found that eating a carnivore diet high in fat has helped my eyes feel almost normal! I use cod liver oil in winter just for the A and D3. If you suffer from dry eyes getting inflamation down by eating carnivore or ketovore will help you. Not a quick fit but over time your symptons should decrease.

I am a 72 year old healthy, female, who’s had fibromyalgia for the last 35 years. After watching EO nutrition, Dr. Berg and the nerve doctors I started taking benfotiamine and magnesium at the highest recommended dose from EOnutrition, divided between morning and evening. And it is the first time in 35 years that I am almost pain-free. The B1 is fat soluble, so it gets into your cells and it really works to eliminate pain. My pain levels would be between seven and nine and now it is mostly two or three. Every. Single. Day. I can’t believe the difference it has made. So the types of supplements you take does make a difference like Dr. Mindy says.

If you read the comments, it seems to be helping a lot of people. I started out with 300 mg morning and night then went to 900 and 1200 but I still wasn’t getting any relief with 1200 so I went to the maximum dose of 1500. I noticed relief the very next day. I also take it with about 1500 mg of magnesium. I take half in the morning and half at night. Hope this helps you.

Coffee first thing in the morning and fasting for a long period of time has contributed to my LPRGerd. Caffeine is very bad for Gerd. I knew I had an acidic body but failed to take that into consideration while doing IF. I have since switched to a chicory drink in the morning and then continue to IF. I love how I feel doing IF and I am more energetic and IF keeps my weight in check. I’m 76 and am not on any drugs, which seems to be the minority of people in my age bracket. I have your book. I had complete blood work done by my Naturopath and then know what supplements I need. I control my LPR Gerd with diet and I am eliminating, coffee, alcohol, chocolate, sugar, and a lot of carbs, mint. No need for drugs at all. Thanks for your work Dr. Mindy. Linda

I do take Centrum Women 50+ and if I stop, after two weeks, I start to notice a difference in my wellbeing. I’ve unwittingly tested this in the past and even if it’s a placebo effect (which I don’t believe it was), it worked and still works for me. As this is a promotional video, it feels obvious that other brands would be accused of being less than the promoted brand. Not trying to be negative, but if it works and that’s all a person can afford, it feels like a no brainer to use other brands.

My rule on multivitamin is that it must be 100% food based, formulated with the correct ingredient ratios and have a slow release coating so it gets past stomach acids and into the small intestines where it can be absorbed. I've been taking Xtend-Life Total Balance for over a decade and it's the real deal. Sadly, high quality multi like this one are quite expensive, but you're doing more harm than good taking cheap synthetic grocery store multivitamins. I take several of the supplements on this list, but I pay close attention to quality, potency and purity.

I started last month, and I noticed during my last period I had almost no cramping, my mood swings were lessened, I wasn’t bloated or retaining hardly any water. So this will be my second month doing this, looking forward to seeing the result by my next period. Still trying to get my rhythm down. But I’m excited to see how my overall health continues to improve. I’m loving the bonus of looking leaner and having more defined muscles and abs! Finely slice cabbage with a food processor, if possible. Otherwise, finely slice with a knife. Try to make sure that all the bits and pieces are relatively close to the same size, so they ferment evenly.
Put the chopped cabbage in a large bowl. Sprinkle with the appropriate amount of salt (use a good salt like Redmonds or Himalayan pink salt) per pound, according to the chart I pasted in right below:
Add any herbs or spices (I like fresh, peeled, crushed, whole or minced, garlic, fresh sprigs of dillweed and a little, black, coarsely ground pepper or just a few whole, black peppercorns in the bottom of the jar.) to the bowl and mix in with clean hands or utensils. Let the mixture stand for 15-20 minutes, so the salt can draw the liquid from the cabbage.
Pack the mixture (including any liquid) tightly up to the shoulder of the jar, leaving 3-4 inches of head space. Be sure to use a very clean Fido Brand Clamp top jar, if possible. I like to run my jars through the dishwasher on the Sanitize cycle before using them for fermenting.
After packing the jar, close them up and let them ferment at room temperature for 6 weeks. The fermenting vegetables will release liquid and gases as good bacteria multiply. Fido brand clamp top jars are self burping, as long as the seals don't get stuck to the glass. So, be sure to check for sticking seals after 6, 12, and 24 hours by gently, but firmly pulling on the tab attached to the seal. You may hear air seeping out when you pull. If you fill the jars too full, the liquid will get on the seal and make it sticky, stopping the self burping action, so be sure to leave enough head room, so you don’t have overflow.
-If you can't find Fido brand clamp top jars, you may use clean quart or pint canning jars but the self burping feature is well worth it! You'll need to loosen the lids to burp the mason jars every 6-24 hours (more often in the beginning) for a few days to a week, though, so they don't burst.
Within 24 hours, you should see bubbles start to rise to the top. That's a sign that fermentation has begun and pressure will be present.
Fido Fermentation is the name of a FB group that is aimed at people who ferment in Fido jars.
There are also special airlock jars (Pickl-it, is one good brand) you can use to ferment in. You don't have to worry about burping jars if you use use and airlock type jar.
After 6 weeks, open the jars and slowly add in some of the liquid in the jar to your food. Start low and slow and gradually increase the amount over time. It's better to go slowly than, have to take a couple steps back. Depending on your gut health, you may need to start with just a drop to begin with and double that amount every few days. Then, slowly introduce the actual sauerkraut in the same way. Just eat a little, tiny bit to start and increase slowly.
Don't be alarmed if you experience some digestive symptoms, like gas, diarrhea, constipation (consider a colon cleanse or an enema if, you're not having a bowel movement every day, though. That means your biggest form of releasing toxins isn't working well and in extreme cases, your body will have to find other places to store the toxins and waste,if it can't remove it from the body.) That's most likely the good bacteria in the sauerkraut killing off bad yeasts and bad bacteria in the gut. If you experience any of these symptoms, simply go back to the last amount where you were symptom free and stick to that amount for a few days to a week before slowly increasing again. You'll want to work up to a cup of fermented veggies or so per day for at least 6 months to a year. You may find that you like them and want to keep them as part of your diet. If you don't care for Sauerkraut, try fermenting carrots and making fermented pickles. One of my favorite ferments is Garlic Dilly Carrots. If you experience severe symptoms, you may want to check out the gut healing GAPS Diet by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride. You'll want her book, but my favorite resource besides the book is the FAQs at: www.Gapsdiet.com

Nutritional Books written way back in the late 60’s claimed that our soils were depleted of nutrients and minerals. Close to 50 years now. On top of growing vegetables on depleted soil by the time that vegetables and fruits hit your table there is nothing much left in the produce. A multi vitamin is important.

What is her recommendation to people over 65 and for vegans. How can vegans do Keto?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  Рік тому

For vegans, achieving a ketogenic diet can be challenging due to the carb and animal product restrictions. They can focus on healthy plant-based fats, incorporate low-carb veggies and plant-based proteins, and monitor essential nutrients. Personalized guidance and consulting healthcare professionals are important for both groups.

Thank you. Health care professionals know nothing about this. I found a couple that approval veganism, but they all seem to be up in the air about keto. The only one I know that knows about it is a doctor that I see as a patient and I can’t turn him into my doctor.
I guess my question is is it possible to be keto and vegan at the same time. Is there some powder that I can take. I do take OptimalAmino which supposedly delivers 20 g of protein with only 4 cal and is recommended for keto check it out for yourself and it is half the price literally half out of all the other essential amino acids that you can buy . I take it twice a day so my question remains do you think it’s even possible other than what I am doing for Vegan to be keto?

Having been a dietitian since1982 my opinion of supplements has changed over the years. To try to have a meaningful discussion of supplements in a short video is not doing anyone a favor. What matters most is taking extremely high-quality supplements also referred to as nutraceuticals. The difference has to do with the quality of the raw material, certain combinations that need to go together and the quantity that you take.
If you want really good advice you need to consult with somebody who is an expert in nutrition. I don't mean to be insulting to the doctor but this conversation is just going to confuse people more.
I don't think it's a waste of money to buy nutraceuticals. One issue people may have if they tend to be quite a bit more expensive than what people are used to paying.
There's a lot more research these days on supplementation and it changes. So you can't just generalize. There are some extremely high-quality multi-vitamin mineral nutraceuticals. If you're going to buy cheap supplements you probably are wasting your money except for maybe a handful.
Nutrition supplementation is a science and shouldn't be looked at like a fad. If you're restricting your diet in any way, including fasting, that makes proper supplementation even more important.
To get recommendations you really have to have a thorough nutritional assessment by a person who is a nutrition professional. That very likely does not include your doctor unless you're going to an integrative physician.

Agree. I have had health issues that doctors have NEVER been able to help with. I see a naturopathic practitioner, and it's the best thing I ever did. She diagnosed a thyroid issue through a blood test of which Medicare doesn't cover. The mainstream medical system wants you sick, not well, because that doesn't make them money. Plus, doctors don't seem to know anything about how the body works these days.
I am on many supplements to handle the situation, and it's always changing, BUT at 57, I am on NO medications, nor have I been for years. Pharmaceuticals are causing more health issues than they cure, so I am trying to avoid them all.
Yes, it is expensive because the government is owned by pharmaceutical companies, but in the long term, it is worth it.

I"ve been on a carnivore high-fat diet for almost a year and I get all the vitamins and minerals I need. This is the first year where I didn't even notice the springtime pollen which I was highly allergic to before. Of course, the meat has to be organic grass-fed meat. I consume grass-fed beef liver 3 times a week and drink raw goat's milk 1 to 2 cups before I go to bed. Just those two foods are packed with vitamins and minerals, especially the liver, it's such a potent superfood. Beef liver is inexpensive, way cheaper than any supplement out there. I don't like the taste but I can't deny the nutritional value of it. I just cut it up raw and put it in my magic bullet with a scoop of Green Vibrance an excellent probiotic, a banana, milk, honey, and beetroot powder. If I'm missing anything a fourth of a teaspoon of Himalayan sea salt will provide the rest. That's all you'll need plus some intermittent to all-day fasting preferably once a week.

    Dear Dr Mindy,
Anyone taking D3 should always take it with K2. Vitamin D3 gloms onto calcium and without K2 to tell it what to do it just floats around in the blood eventually plugging up your heart. K2 is the conductor of the orchestra which tells the D3 to put it in your bones, your fingernails and to remineralize your teeth. With D3 and K2 in concert dental decay becomes a thing of past because the greatest amount of K2 is in saliva!! If you have roughness on the surface of your nails that will smooth out in about 4 weeks. Take your D3 with K2 after a meal because they are fat soluble and feel the difference.

@@Apoetandanisland Yes, it's all right. Many keto & carnivore eaters put cream or butter and MCT oil in their morning coffee even tho' they don't eat til much later.
Insulin is higher then anyway, made by the body even when you have eaten NO carbs then or on the previous day, and there is usually almost no spike in insulin from fats anyway.
Just be careful w the Stevia, tho', if you are a carb addict and insulin resistant, because that sweet taste CAN cause the body to produce insulin anyway just on the false expectation that carbs are on the way.

For probiotics I drink kombucha. It actually was the key to help me getting over long covid. I had very bad cognitive and fatigue issues, but about 30mins after I drank kombucha I picked up in energy and mental clarity. That allowed me to then bring in other strategies that eventually cured me. But not all brands worked, so I stuck to the one that did. I still have it a few times a week, and I do notice the difference when I don't drink it for a while. So clearly my gut bacteria likes that brand of kombucha!

I learned how to make my own kombucha and kefir water. Helped me a lot with my gut issues. I ferment my kombucha for 3 wks at about 86 degrees to ferment as much sugar as possible without making it too vinegary. I second ferment my kombucha with fresh ginger. A win win!!!! I was consuming quite a bit of Kombucha at around $4-$4.50 a bottle. Now I ferment my own for literally pennies a bottle. You dont have to go broke for your gut health!

@4everfree363 that's great! I don't know if I trust myself though... I'd hate to get it wrong and make myself sick. Is it pretty simple to make and hard to mess up?

Wow, great video! I have MCAS so I take Reservatrol, querzetin and curcumin for that and H1 and H2 blockers. I eat a low histamine diet to avoid too many problems. I feel great and fast a lot! I try to teach people how to eat good food!

I recently started adding Celtic Salt to my diet. Wouldn’t that give me the same as Beam Minerals? Curious why you say they’re better! Is the liquid more absorbable?

Question!!! I’m not a great eater so I do take a multivitamin that is from a very reputable company and my vitamins have B1=4mg 333% and B2=5mg 385% and B6 15mg 882% and B12 400mcg 16,667%. With a lot of other good stuff too. I tend to only take 1/2 the dosage, really to just save money. My question is, because I’m not a good eater, do you feel this amount of B vitamins is good for me or should I take the full dosage? These vitamins are from nutritional frontiers called womens complete.
