This is the best method by far to extract the oil from coconuts. Just made a mess for my first time and took an hour to grate one coco' the hard way. That sit-down grater looks like my kind of miracle tool that I'll be investing in soon! Great video, love the music, and the final product looks spectacular. And btw, I'm making a tea out of the excess shaving I have. Trying to. I'll update how it turns out! Ciao!

u can make an electric grater with a small motor like from the washing machine,,,fastest way to grate but need a practice in handling so your hand cant be grate aswell hehehe...

just chip the coconut and throw it in the blender with water.

After some trial and error I ended up going the blender route. I even got a beefy Juicer that rips through coconut after it's been soaked.

I'm Filipino and this is close to the method that's been passed down to me. I had my husband hand forge a grader for me and attach it to a stool. I just park it in front of the t.v. and grade away.

Happy to see this tutorial . This is a daily stuff tat v South Indians do as coconut is the main ingredient in our cooking.u can simply grind the scrapped coconut without adding it in water. Squeeze the semi grinded coconut in a Muslin cloth n take the milk. . It's better to take pure coconut milk for making oil, u can directly heat the coconut milk n get the oil.

    Thanks for posting,
Great video, bit I should state the obvious here, this oil is basically dead oil, all the enzymes and micro-macro nutrients have been heated and killed, unless the heating was under 118 degrees Fahrenheit, above this temp and you loose all the nutrients that make coconut oil so incredible,
but I was glad to see this way of making oil, a method that's probably been around longer than I have, that is for sure...
thank you very much for this amazing video....

It's amazing that those of you speaking about virgin coconut oil perhaps have never really had the smell of authentic, Trinidadian Grandma and Grandpa'a coconut oil. I grew up seeing coconut oil made just this way and eating those brown bits!
Gave us all wonderful skin, hair and delicious food as well and it never goes rancid!
Why not put a vid up of the cold pressed Guyanese etc method?
Thank you for this vid and the Trini feel with the steelpan Deen K

Roliste Guiade The oil doesn't disappear when you dry the flakes (only the water does), but I believe they have already undergone a process like this one once. If they contained much oil they would go rancid very quickly (which just happened to some shredded coconut I had bought).

Nice video. I like coconut oil. we also using this stuff for our hair. 👍👍💖💕
We also do like this in the Philippines.
But the difference is we don't need to wait till next morning we cook ryt after squeezed out all the coconut milk. Because the coconut milk the smell will be changed after one day.
We just make sure that our stuff still fresh.
But I like this video still organic stuff. And also this oil u can use also for cooking.👏👏👏👍👍

I always do this, when you watching it seems easy, but the fact is not. To much work for this, but the good thing is you have your genuine coconut oil.👍👍👍

Wonderful! Way too much work but I appreciate the process, I understand now. I applaud ppl who actually make their own oil. Coconut oil is expensive, I give my pup 1/4 tspoon with his kibbles 4 times a week, he won't eat his food without coconut oil. Also, I just read a few days ago that coconut oil is extremely bad for human consumption. I thought coconut oil was considered "healthy oil", instead it's saturated w bad fatty oils. Who knows. It's certainly confusing. Thank you, Laura B.
