    Thank you for making the video very crisp giving importance to the value of time of the viewers. Better to add hot water for squeezing out the coconut milk. In the traditional method of kerala, the scrapped coconut will be boiled before squeezing out milk and hence called ventha velichenna .. you may verify with very old family members.

Only because time consuming also the coconut sold in the UK I believe is transported from abroad and have been exposed to radiation so probably they have lost all the goodness. I'm only presuming. But it was wonderful to watch and learn. One day will never know I'd love to try making coconut oil. Thank you so much for your videos. Very educational very helpful. Thank you. God bless you 😘

      +Maria Jardim thanks so much for being here! Its not that difficult to make at home in small quantities, I keep it simmering on one stove, while I cook other things! You can use an iron pan/skillet instead. Or simply use more fresh coconut in your meals, just do not buy coconut flour/chips etc (coconut flour is actually defatted). You can make coconut milk at home and use them in your oats porridge etc. Much Love!

      For me i prefer the cold pressed one, because it retains its anti-oxidant properties, its more flavorful, and no additives unlike its counterpart method, which goes to a process of heating or refining.

      @Ibn Al Araby- hi there,
      its a bit late to comment but i came across your query on this comment section of this video only recently.
      Well, i don't know about all the merits and demerits but here is one demerit: the smell and aroma is less as well as the medicinal properties( but it is more than enough to meet the requirements).
      And one merit is it's preservability increases significantly cold press coconut oil will degrade three to four times faster than the method shown here and any microbial activity( bacterial, fungal or viral) is completely obliterated . All you need to do is keep it in a close seal air tight container and it will last for years.

    Not by heating bcz heating doesn't make your virgin coconut oil
    So for making let your coconut milk settle in fridge overnight and you'll find thick coat of cream on the top of the container extract that thick cream ,Pat dry that & rest for some time in room temperature so that your cream melted & that's your virgin coconut oil ❤

      Coconut oil is made from sun-dried coconut or kopra. When the coconut is fresh and not sun-dried it is called virgin coconut oil. It can be made using cold pressed or heat processed methods.
      Coconut oil is used for cooking n as hair oil commonly while virgin coconut oil heat processed has been used by keralites for newborns and kids since ages. For newborn oil massage, while heating ixora flowers are also added.

    We used to do this all day as a kid in Jamaica. We mostly go for the darker oil. We also put something called breadnut in it which makes it have a nice reddish color. This breadnut can be used as food coloring so when you used our coconut oil you didn't have to brown foods. It is so amazing seeing how you people in your region do many things like us - Or maybe the other way around, as we shared blood and culture in the past. I found out why they called my family members coolie when I went to Bermuda. Jamaicans don't mean harm by it though because nearly all of us have Indian blood in us. We got curry and rotti from you but yours is always just about ten times better. I experienced that in Bermuda made by my Pakistani friends. At least, our native coconuts have more oil.

      If you want to make the process shorter keep the coconut milk in the fridge overnight..then the oily part in the coconut oil will come to the top and it is easy to collect..then u only have to cook that oily part..oil will come quickly

    I've watched them do this in the Philippines by grinding the coconut then putting it in a hydraulic press squeezing out the coconut never having any water putting that into a clear plastic containers where the coconut oil will naturally separate can be skimmed off the next day no heating involved no denaturing of the product

    There is an easy method to this. Once u extract the coconut milk keep it in the refrigerator for a day. The next day it will firm two layers. The upper layer will be thick and u can break it and make the coconut oil and the lower layer will be liquid. I made this for my kids to apply on their whole body. This is very easy as it will save a lot time. Do try and see.
