Had fun watching a couple of your Led Zep reactions. Then I saw a picture of you from the 1940's.....a previous incarnation? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_the_Past#/media/File:OutOfThePastMitchumGreer.jpg
Hi Georgia so sorry to see you're not feeling well. I have to respond here because my iPad won't let me get to your original post so kick back obey your doctor's orders and get well soon. 🤗🤗👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I's suggest you to react to Disturbed 's cover of "The sound of silence" if you don't know the song. Many claim it to be better than the original song.
@@neil6958 In the 1920's (when the song was written) Chicago was the fastest growing city in the US with lots of job opportunities and lots of crime opportunities.
Only 2 band the world needs , Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd . If today music was half as good as these two were I'D would still listen to the radio but ....
To show how varied their music was and to show how the influences of Led Zeppelin helped to make them what they were, try a listen to 'Tangerine','That's the Way' or 'No Quarter'.Your reactions are always great, hope your health is better too.Keep it going and good luck.
What a beautiful, simply magnificent song, Led Zeppelin IV is the best album of 1971, closely followed by, Sticky Fingers - Rolling Stones, L.A Woman - The Doors, and Electric Warrior - T. Rex.
The Mississippi flooded horribly in 1927; it was well-documented in song--Memphis Minnie, Charley Patton, and others. William Faulkner wrote about it in "Old Man".
This is actually a cover of Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie from 1929. At that time the levees on the Mississippi River really did break with catastrophic results.
"Like nothing I've ever heard before" That's the beauty of Led Zeppelin. That's the same thing I thought too when I first heard them and yeah it's an very old song. The blues they way only Zeppelin can play them. Jimmy Page took his years of playing as a session musician and looked it into forming Led Zeppelin. It was a vision and it worked awesomely. Robert Plant's harmonica playing also makes this song
Loved your reaction.. Jimmy Page "ZOSO"-Guitar... John Bonham "Bonzo" -Drums... Robert Plant-Vocals... John Paul Jones "Jonesy" -Bass Guitar, Keyboards, Mandolin... Jimmy one of the best Rock Guitarist.... Bonzo best Rock Drummer... Robert Great Vocals.... Jonesy one of the best Rock Musicians. It`s no wonder you loved the Drums and Guitar in this great song! Led Zeppelin. Cheers Georgia & Joe...
When this came out, it was (and still is) one of the best stoner songs ever. A few bong hits and just lose yourself in the music...today, i'm doing a couple hits off the vape, and STILL losing myself in the music...at 63.....Zeppelin is timeless and ageless
At 4:25 when you said "that guitar playin" that was the singer playing the harmonica. Love your reactions to Zeppelin.I'd request a specific song by Led Zeppelin but I'm kind of hoping you get around to doing all of them eventually.😁
I've always felt they had a close connection with the blues , a lot of songs carry that theme .........and once on his own you can see it more clearly ..............love all there music
Hands down my favorite Zep song. The the drum echo was achieved by setting 2 mics in the stairwell of some country manor. The harmonica is just other-worldly. Written by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929.
Great song indeed, was on my top 10 zep songs list I posted for you on another zep reaction you did. Love that these insanely great songs are new to you and we can relive the epiphany we all had one day through reactions that open minded people like yourself share. Keep on keeping on! 9 more on the list, really looking forward to you experiencing "Ten Years Gone" Peace!
This song is a reworking of a song from 1929 by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. It's the telling of a 1927 flood that devastated the Mississippi Delta. These drum beats were some of the most sampled in early hip hop. I do hope you do more. Cheers!
I remember as a teen my dad and I were in line at K Mart and I was begging him to buy the album for me. "Come on, can you buy it for me... please.... awww... come on?" He finally said yes. It was $4.99, this was a few yrs after it was released, around 1975.
My fav too, ten years gone, amazing that radio never killed that song like stairway, which although epic by any and every standard, I can listen to zep for hours and never choose to queue up stairway anymore.
@@jasonroberts6782 I completely agree. Zeppelin is probably my favorite band of all time. But, I won't listen to Stairway thanks to radio. Same goes for Hotel California. I just can't! A band mate wanted to learn it a few years ago and I refused.
Well in this most of it was a harmonica played by the lead singer Robert Plant and little guitar work towards the end by lead and rythm guitar Jimmy Page (:
Another great reaction! Robert Plant being a beast on harmonica and vocals. I read somewhere that Jimmy Page is playing the bass line with his guitar, along with John Paul Jones' bass. And he also plays slide guitar on his solos. And the drum beat by John Bohnam is iconic.
The lyrics were written in 1927 by Memphis Minnie about the Great Mississippi flood. African American people were forced at gunpoint to work on the levee. Fine song.
Guess the picture: Brazil, 3 Ranchs reservoir, camping, after a crazy night of vodca drinking, i wake up the next day, headache , sun lifting from the reservoir, and what song was playing...when the levee breaks...good old times!
Yes this song won a gold medal lol 🤭 I mean it has reached platinum status many times over. You're playing the right album now listen to --- 🥀The Battle Of Evermore🥀
Blues Rock at its finest, Could you please react to a guy called Eric Clapton, he's the main reason I began playing music 11 years ago. He's a legend in the rock and blues world. I would suggest listening to his song Layla, or his version of Have You Ever Loved a Woman (Preferably the live versions). If you enjoy guitar playing he's pretty much the pinnacle
That sound you heard was a blues harp (harmonica). This is a very bluesy song. Led Zeppelin has a bunch of bluesy songs. I'd like to suggest you react to some black sabbath songs, if you're so inclined.
Led Zep was the greatest rock n roll band, period. They did use lyrics/partial lyrics etc from the old Delta blues guys. It was smart musically but they didn’t always give credit. You need to try The Doors. Incredible band and front man-Jim Morrison.. Unique kind of eerie sound. LA Woman, Light My Fire, Roadhouse Blues are 3 good ones to start with.
I don't think they did a live version of when the levee breaks harmonica and vocals at the same time. check out Zeperella great girl band do a cover version. Also Bad company singing "bad company" Paul Rodgers on vocals what a voice, if you have time that is.
Hi Georgia, great post again with a brilliant track and yes - Those drums ! - The Late Great John Bonham sadly no longer with us was the greatest rock drummer of all time. He had the muscle power & speed to hit harder & faster than anyone....The greatest example is the track "In My Time Of Dying" It begins slow but boy does it go with incredible power as the pace increases and Bonham basically goes ballistic as Jimmy Page on guitar hits the overdrive....The 1st few drum beats will hit you like a brick and a glimpse as to what is coming. Led Zeppelin at their heaviest all thanks to those drums......Thru your speakers be careful - "Georgia ! I think it's begun to thunder" ....." Naw, it's Led Zeppelin". Byee X
I think led zeppelin 4 After then dark side of the moon Is best rock album(im zeppelin fan) and in this album Best track is sth and then wtlb and the four sticks is third best track on the album who agree with me
Hey there, how are you? So, about those drums...Bonham played them at the bottom of a stairwell and they recorded it that way to get that amazing sound. I really enjoy your reactions....the singer is Robert Plant, guitarist is Jimmy Page, bass is John Paul Jones...not showing off, just trying to help you along...no worries. You have nice pitch to your voice when you sing along...you're right in key🙂
A suggestion for your next Led Zeppelin song "Misty Mountain Hop" (my personal favorite:-). Also, waiting for you to react to The Warning's "P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C" :-)
Misty Mountain Hop yes indeed. “So I’m packing my bags for the misty mountains, over the hill where the spirits fly, ooooh ! Your only the second person who has recommended this song. Great choice for a reaction.

Robert Plant's harmonica is something way beyond. It's mixed so beautifully...it's ethereal.
One of Zeppelin's best tunes... which is usually what I say after every Zeppelin song. ;)
EVERYTHING they do is fantastic!
So nice to see another generation getting hooked on Led Zeppelin! Your videos are always entertaining and enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
Great reaction to an amazing song. Would love to see you do "Ten years gone" or "Hey hey what can I do"
I've suggested Ten Years Gone several times. Hopefully this one takes!
I'd agree with 'Ten Years Gone' Georgia!!
Same! Ten years gone, the hidden gem that avoided radio overkill!
The original song is over 100 years old. Welcome to genius. The absolute best 4 musicians ever. You have been Zepped.
What does the line "And if you've no work to do, you go to Chicago" mean!?
Neil
They had to move.. and also needed jobs. A lot went to Chicago..

Hahaha..Indeed the best that ever did it.

A reworking of a Memphis Minnie song about the 1927 Floods. Pure genius.. Probably my favourite Zep track. And those iconic drums... Wow.. 👌👌👍👍
Yup those drums are so powerful, it's pure Bonham at his best.
Right on !
In my time of dying and also ten years gone are extremely good
This one?ua-cam.com/video/swhEa8vuP6U/v-deo.html
The drums in this , is insane. Indeed it is.
I know what a harmonica is however I really thought that was a guitar lmao😂😂😂
That's how talented all the musicians are, the singer can make a harmonica sound like a guitar LOL
The one and only Robert Plant!
You now have to watch Robert Plant on harmonica live Led Zeppelin Bring It On Home at Royal Albert Hall 1970
Rest assured Blondie, you are not the first to make that mistake, you won't be the last. :) Really enjoying your Led Zeppelin reactions. Cheers.
Apparently the harmonica was recorded by Page ( the engineer)and reversed on tape along with heaps of delay, reverb etc...
Every led Zeppelin song is a treat ... Thank you vallhalla to create such an legendary band period👍.
Bonham's Drums, and Robert Plant KILLING IT on the Harmonica!!

Classic Bonham! In my opinion, it;s the drums that make this song.

The reason the music sounds the way it does is because they slowed it down in post production but left Robert Plant's voice at normal speed.
