You know I don't smoke pot anymore but man laying back smoking a joint in the 70s and listening to bands like Zeppelin Hendricks Joplin excetera. It was a unique time in American history. And especially for an English band to capture Southern blues sung and played like the likes of muddy Waters Walter Johnson b.b. King and the rest of the greats is a remarkable feat. I'm so glad you got to experience it❤
Walter Johnson was a turn-of-the-century baseball pitcher, "the Big Train" and he struck out a lot of hitters. ROBERT Johnson was the legendary blues guitarist around whom the stories of the Crossroads where he met the devil and sold his soul etc... It's OK they were certainly contemporaries but probably didn't know each other :-).
Same here. No one should get near Zeppelin’s sh*t. 👈 Never wanted anyone to EVER touch this song after Zeppelin’s arrangement and recording was released all those yrs ago. I must admit, the first time I saw this Jonesy rework I was blown away. It’s an astonishing achievement.
What makes your page and YOU so special is the good you find in every artist and every genre. I love watching your beautiful face loving beautiful music ♥️
The older gent dressed in black playing bass….the last person you see at the end: That’s John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. He organized this and arranged it.
Most people don't know that ! Very few don't even know this was sung by a black blues band! But I can't remember the name of the original band or individual!
DOUBLE LIKE!! Double song. Great choice on both of these. They are both must-listens, really. And the songs on the "Playing for change " song list are just amazing. Check out more!!
You so adorable awesome beautiful today love the song another great reaction by you again like always you always give great reaction on your youtube channel that's why I like your channel thank you so much for sharing your video with us love it Sarah🌹❤️🌹🧡🤗👍
Playing for change ..John Paul Jones is the bass player from Led Zeppelin .. The original song was done by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Jos McCoy in 1929 and was about the great Mississippi flood . Led Zeppelin are a mix of blues and rock with a bit of everything else in between thrown in from around the world ..They are not a genre , they are just music .. Enjoy ..
Fantastic to showcase the incredible PlayingForChange cover series in this reaction! Did you catch JohnPaulJones in the mix? There are so many great covers in that series, but perhaps my fav is their version of Lennon's Imagine... You look so happy in this vid Sarah. Good to see!
My Dear, you look sooo dang cute! And you’re listening to the best band ever! That makes for a good morning for me! Looking at you, and listening to LZ! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The singer and the harmonica player are the same guy, Robert Plant. His song catalog as a solo is extensive. You should check him out. He’s still around.
Untitled.4th album recorded at Headley Grange manor in England where the band lived and played at will. Bonzos drums were set up in a landing in a stairwell with that awesome reverb! When the Levee Breaks is a 1930s song by Memphis Minnie, I believe... maybe some correction here!
Sarah, you’re a smart entertaining young woman with some well informed insightful subs, giving you the side by side suggestion. Congratulations, love your reactions and the Channel. 🤘😉
It’s a terrible storm, the moanful sound of the wind(harp & guitar) The unrelenting pounding if the surf(drums) with cymbal crashing waves And the wind down of the storm like a top losing speed Watch them play this live in 1971 at 19 years old. Album only out for few months Magical night 🎊😎🎸 Song is over 50 years old. Match it with today?
Led Zeppelin - when the levee breaks ::: back in the day when this album came out. My cousin would put it on record player, Then space out by lighting up a joint and ascend to "Cloud 13". Not one of my favorite things to do, but those were the days of - sex, drugs, and Rock & Roll. I left those days behind long ago in the 70's. There are a lot of great songs by Led Zeppelin. I much prefer the Studio Version of Stairway To Heaven. It was perfect and in my top #1 of number ones. I used to rank Stairway To Heaven and The Who's Behind Blue Eyes as number 1& 2. Which was #1 depended on how i was feeling at the time. Then ELP came along with song in 3 impressions 29 minutes - Karn Evil 9 . The key boards are fantastic and I play piano. (or at least try to)
Well its more than a cover. It's a complete reworking. Apart from a few lyrics it has next to nothing to do with the original version. They did credit Memphis Minnie though.
Why does UA-cam put ads in the middle of songs? Who listens to them? I push skip as soon as I can. I never listen to any of the ads. To bad that UA-cam has ruined many a song this way. Other than that the video was excellent. Thank you Sarah.
I adore this band! If you like them, you will like Diamond Head's album Lightning to the Nations too... It has one song, "Am I Evil?", it sounds mean, but the lyrics, why he is so angry, are moving. He was a child in the witch burnings. That's all I'll say. Please give it a look! Tomorrow, I'm going to see about Patroning you so I at least am paying to make these requests. It is the right thing to do. I may have to do a one time donation and jump to Patreon when I am working again. I have my own business, lots of demand, I breed cats, design websites, and make my own graphics for the websites, along with logos and things, in Photoshop. Jane of all trades, me. 😊
Beware of Jimmy Page. He worships black magic. Thats why he wears dragons on his clothes. He also bought Anton "Church of Satan" LaVay's house. I met him at a concert back stage on my 16th birthday. Zepplin STUNK in concert. 8pm to 12 midnight and they played 3 songs. "Song Remains the Same", "Moby Dick" with a 45 minute drum solo, and "Stairway to Heaven". No encore either.
The depth, complexity and range of Zeppelin's music will never be matched again.
Awesome, Zeppelin introduced many young people to the Blues. Robert Plant was a heck of a blues singer lol. I have this hi-def and love it.
The bassist is the same bassist on both tracks. John Paul Jones, he’s from Led Zeppelin. Very cool to hear these side by side.

I’m smoking that legal weed and jammin , ain’t life great 😊
I’ve never quit and prolly never will
That was so much fun watching you enjoy the song. It is an awesome song with great vocals, lyrics and music.
Great share! I usually reject any Zeppelin covers, but this was truly unique and enjoyable.

"When the Levee Breaks" is a country blues song written and first recorded by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929.

Thank you Fred, good to see you back 🙂
First time I hear the Playing For Change version. Omg 😎👍😁
That was EPIC!! Thank you Sarah!!
And a great cover too
Zeppelin's version is actually a cover too. This is a really old song about the great flood of 1927.
I was a very young woman when they hit the scene in San Francisco Bay Area. Stairway to Heaven has personal meaning for my family.
Robert on harmonica. Brilliant.
Best band in the land. Did you do You Shook Me Yet? Studio version. Great bluesy rock.
Check out Kashmir - Live Celebration Day
Much later and after the passing of John (Bonzo) Bonham, drums are being played by John's son Jason Bonham

Bonham carries this.
The instrument you hear from 11:18 onward is a harmonica. Great video, Sarah :-)
I think you would like the band “Boston” too.
Oh yes! Love em! I've checked out a few of their songs
Oh yeah !!!

i would love to see you reacting to HEILUNG...
You're very beautiful, god bless you, i love led zeppelin
John Bonham! Incredible!
I have to give the win to the cover band, made the song better, good job.

Yes this was originally written in the 1920's in response to the Great Mississippi Flood.

His occult ties have always been a stumbling block for me. Still best guitarist in rock and roll

Forget the live crap. Studio versions are much better 99 percent of the time.
