I'd love to have a Cutlass-size RSI ship for a daily driver role. Not Connie-size, which is twice bigger and much slower, but specifically the Cutlass or Spirit class. Now that Drake got into starter ship segment, maybe RSI can get into the medium segment as well.
That exactly what I'm looking for. Cutlass and Freelancer are not really my style. When they announced Spirit, I thought it would be my moment, but it's a complete disappointment. I hope they drastically change Spirit or bring in an RSI competitor.
@@TheIrishBread The Aurora is pretty dang small compared to a Cutlass or a Freelancer. I think a proper RSI 2-3 man ship would be a nice addition for some players. Personally I like the Cutlass a lot, so I'm happy with the current offerings.

My fear and the fear of many others is it just becomes another caterpillar where we get zero details for years on the modularity. I personally avoid modularity because I know it will be a far longer wait for a modular ship than a purpose built one.
each year they need generate revenue, to cover development costs and since new ships and concepts sell so well = they will focus allot of their revenue planing and marketting around this... and not whats already in-game or been in concept for years... so if one wants to change this, folks merely need to put more of there money into whats old, rather then whats new = they will focus more on what there to begin with, then focus on trying to find new things to sell, because their finances for next year have been covered by whats already there which is selling enough for them to not need to push more new stuff. 50mil over 10 years is not allot of money for 3-4 AAA MMO games rolled into 1, couldnt make a new cod game on that, rockstar would go bust in less then a year if that all they had to survive of... so the fact CIG has gotten as far as they have and made what they have, is a testament to the quality management and having the right people on the job... but once u got 100's people and other operational costs... you need revenue to pay the bills and ur workers each year and 50mil per year... yea, should be atleast 100mil per year actually.
only flip side to this is obviously is whats old can only really sell vs the number of existing backers as well, so eventually they will need to release new stuff, but obviously most people dont invest allot into the game even they enjoy the game, so CIG needs to try find ways to entice them.
@@JINGWA64 Can get in a coversation for hours about it or I can just not buy it realizing it is modular as well as big which means years away. I for one am happy to pretend like it does not exist and move on.
@@JINGWA64 I think that's not the answer. The answer is for people to ONLY buy flyable or straight to flyable ships. People buy Idrisis every year. The things sell out instantly. So do Javelins and Krakens. And the BMM. Clearly putting money into them isn't making them come out. If people would ONLY buy new ships that are straight to flyable, and stop buying concepts (even existing ones), it would force them to actually finish ships as they'd see new dollars are only going to ships once flyable. And if people only bought ships that were flyable that they liked (ships in game and functional now as well as straight-to-flyable new ships), they MIGHT eventually get the message. Maybe.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they created the modules for all those supposedly modular ships they have already released? I mean the Galaxy looks amazing in concept and I want to see it in action. Finish the older concepts first? I think 10 years of waiting is enough... We don't have to assume the consequences that CIG was unable to deliver some base mechanisms during this time, like a good hauling/commerce system.
A love letter from a Fan, about a Concept Ship. Dear CIG, there is Nothing stopping you, from adding a 4-th & Final Turret on the Top Side of the ship. As well as making the turrets be like the ones on the Redeemer, (The Pilot) can control 1 of the turrets in the front seat. But IF there are people on board, they can Hop Into the Turret Seat & Use the turret. Thus the Pilot Control does NOT stop the turret user. The 2 turrets on the sides of the ship, should be Pilot controlled. But having the Option, to be Remotely taken over from people on the seats in the bridge, would be a nice addition. For such a Massive Ship, No WAY does it have Only 1 size 3 Shield... Also the Top of the ship why does it look so Empty? Turret placement suggestion - where the Bridge area is, can easily be "Extended" or "Fattened" up, to have a Turret In-front of the bridge. (It should be In-front of the bridge) for Balance Reasons. That way the turret will NOT be able to turn Backwards & the ship will still have a Blind Stop on the very Top of the ship. Giving other, smaller ships a weakness to exploit. For the size all of the ship guns should be size 5. Or as an alternative -> Simply Slap a Top-side turret a little Off-center of the ships middle, one that is Manned Only (Like the top turret on the Vanguard) that has the seat going down & then taking you up to the turret, it can be done without making any other changes to the ship, but adding a Door on the ceiling to that turret, like on the Vanguard, Redeemer, Freelancer. If such a turret is to be considered, i think the Bottom side turret near the Nose, needs to be Converted to a Manned Only Turret. Same as my example above. As for my Reasons: Server Blades & Balancing. Server Blades will exist in the future and for better/easier balancing we do Not Want too much Pilot Controlled Firepower. The RSI Galaxy is Compared to the Anvil Carrack, yet the Carrack has a Turret on Top, x2 Sides & Bottom. The Carrack still has the edge over the Galaxy, it has Drones & Map Charter ability (Data running?) I believe that according to Lore, the Carrack has Heavy Armor? (do correct me if i am wrong) Yet we do Not Know IF the Galaxy will have any Armor. It looks like it has armor plating, no? And Yes - i believe the ship has Armor Plating, or at least it looks like it does. I sure hope it has Heavy Armor. Or at least Medium one. Personal wish of mine - The Back side hangar, it can stay the same size it is, but i WISH that the Cargo Module version only, to allow for a "Pass Through" From the Back (Where the Hangar Door is) To the Cargo area -> Giving Room for Multiple Small ships, in Line 1 behind the other. Giving the ship an opportunity to be like a small pocket carrier. Also that would make the Cargo version incredibly Unique. The dimensions seem a little bit off to me. Based on the screenshot next to the Constellation series, the ship looks much bigger. I personally do not mind a Size re-adjustment, making the ship as Big if Not Bigger than the Carrack. If anyone read this, thank you.
I’m a huge fan of how they showed an unfinished Galaxy model in engine next to a Connie as a size comparison. It’s always nice to see actual in game footage for comparison’s sake instead of relying on third party sites or just guesstimating
Looks great, but how long before we see it in game? As many others have noted, there are many long overdue ships that need to be put into game. Finish them please, and fix the ships in game that we’re going to be modular. Warden class, Avenger class, etc. These would be easier to get into game and more people would buy them. Everyone keep posting. CIG needs to listen. I rarely play due to all the bugs and not finished ships. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I share this sentiment but you should realize something critical to this. The teams that make concept ships are not the same teams that make functional ships. The teams that make concept ships dont have the technical assets to create fully functional ships. This is why flight ready ships are often much different the OC. Compare it to an architect designing a floor plan but an engineer being the one to make it functional and realistic clarifying that I stand with you on wanting to see more OC ships completed, just want to point out the reality of what is happening

I like the concept, but just as a reminder: Don't cut slices out of new cakes when you haven't finished the previous ones. There are a bunch of ships that are not sufficiently finished and buggy. I can't really think of buying new ships with good conscience considering how ship releases go. They're pushed out and then not worked on for years. A pretty bad offender is the Argo RAFT, with basically each update something is more broken. (as of 3.17.4) As a consumer, I have to raise a big red flag here. The ships should be in tip top condition. There is no good reason not to polish them up as shiny as possible, apart from functionality that is not in the game yet of course. EDIT: the RAFT issues are: Elevator only works from the outside, meaning you can enter, but not leave the ship. Unless you count the air lock as an exit, but considering how tall the ship is, it's quite the fall. Apart from that it's the most basic thing to be able to enter and leave the ship without having to perform a bungee jump without rope. The lights. Too dim and the light sources are hovering above the ship somewhere. LOD issues. The front right forward thruster is only at the correct location in LOD 0. In any other LOD level it's out of position. Wrong material or wrong lighting on the pilot console. Environmental ground effects are visible inside of the ship. Storage lockers are not working. (HUD misaligned, but that's basically across all of the ships, some worse, some better) When locking doors, there is a chance they won't unlock anymore, trapping you inside. Again an issue most if not all ships with door locks have. Yes, the ship flies and isn't fundamentally broken, but by now, after so many years AT LEAST the ships need to perfect.
one of my biggest concern for star citizen is when the game is finally out and all the ships are purchasable in game with UEC (and no more wipes) ppl will be able to buy UEC from third party website which could then lead them to buy ships for 1/10 th of the store price (currently it is possible to buy 100 million auec for 100 bucks that's 3 carrack for 100 USD instead of 1800 USD. CIG have never adressed this issue
It's great to hear modularity is coming along. I always thought it was a great idea and would add more variety to the game without having to have new ships for every single thing. I can't even remember which ships were modular at this point though.
It’s got the right name, “Galaxy Class”. I love the nod to Star Trek. I love that it has Polaris and Idris traits. But I am a little jaded with the wait times for these ships. It’s a chunk of a lifetime for each one.
This show has come a long way. I remember when you were nervous and scruffy, using a spare room to make these videos. Good job and keep up the great work!
the Galaxy is cool and all, but where are all the other big ships that was said to be in the works the year they were sold? BMM, Orion, Crucible, Hull E-D, Endeavor, Idris, Genesis, Polaris, Javelin, Perseus, Kraken, Nautilus, Liberator, Odyssey that is a long list of ships that needs to get finished and never will if you continue to pump out concepts without finishing a product. Stop selling us "the dream" and deliver a game CIG!
"ITs not a warship, so its not bristling with guns" Gives the ship 3 Remote Turrets with size 5 Guns, same as the Odyssey. Meanwhile, Carrack, which is an ex military ship, still sits there with 3 manned turrets and 1 remote, all size 4.
If there is something I am learning from both ships, is that CIG will definitely need to review some parts of the carrack on its gold pass. Mainly the access to the main lift from the hangar and how some of the habitation deck is organized. The big door between hangar and module truly reveals the lack of proper access to the hangar from both the cargo modules and the hospital in the carrack.
Exactly. My current plans for the Carrack are to use it as a heavy duty search and rescue. However, the way the medbay and hanger are located kinda makes that difficult. Really hope CIG rework the Carrack. Although I plan on picking up a $5 CCU to the Galaxy with store credit just in case they don't. If CIG doesn't rework the Carrack, the Galaxy would make a perfect replacement for the Carrack for search and rescue.
the hangar size, module layout, absolute lack for a second egress point, the one med bed, lights for landing and hangar floods, things that actually function. need i go on....
Yep, because right now odyssey has the best layout. You cannot even use the medical room in the Carrack... how do you get back and forth? Makes 0 sense. And one ramp? Idgaf what you guys think, Odyssey is 1000% a Carrack killer hands down.
"Modularity"...the word used for ships that will never be completed, or at least not in a looooong time. Retaliator? Vanguard? Carrack? Such modules, much wow.
You won't get this ship until 2027. Just wait and use that money on something you need or want now (or within a year). By time this ship comes, youll find coins in the couch to make up for the supposed savings you get, buying in concept.
when you been waiting for the endeavor for 7 years only to keep seeing them create more ship concepts at this rate im going to be a pile of dust by the time the ships released
Another concept? Could you please finish your backlog first? It would be a very honest move of you to not sell any more concepts, only flight-ready ships. That would be very helpful to regain trust of longtime backers.
after having looked at it for a time, I also have to add that I do not find it attractive at all. It is a space wedge. Basically a Fer De Lance/ISD crossover, with the bridge at a more sensible location than both others. If I had one ingame, I'd paint it yellow with painted holes on it - like a cheese wedge. Or maybe something plasticky, like a doorstop. The Constellation in the landing pad shot next to it, now that is art. Clearly separated engine, bridge and main hull parts, a sleek silhouette, the geometry change on takeoff - that ship has aged like fine wine from its first inception to what we currently have ingame. The turrets on the Galaxy look more like they belong on an Anvil ship. And the whole rest of the design seems to be convoluted and filled with creases and holes that serve no practical function whatsoever, painjob and design of the wings evoke Anvil Sabre Raven (the limited Intel-Optane ship) vibes. Really, really sorry guys, but I am not digging it at all. You made so many great ships over the year with unique and beautiful features. The whole Banu Defender is a piece of art like a sculpture, the engine room of the Caterpillar is THE engine room for a Drake ship, period! Just like in a WW2 submarine, but modern at the same time. But this one screams a bit too much "tryhard" and "we need to sell another concept". Maybe if its ingame tomorrow and I am able to test it out I will change my mind because the layout it superb and makes sense, and it is good to see out of (apart from landing, but that's a problem a lot of large ships have due to their nature). But to be able to really judge that, it has to be ingame. Not a movie or a .jpg.
I've possibly never been less excited then this about a new concept ship release. yeah it looks fine, please start working on finishing the bmm, polaris and perseus
"Hey, buy this new ship so you can fully enjoy Pyro when we make it playable in 2077 or so." How about finishing the backlog first? And have the poor devs try to sell it to us is just low. Also, what good are the fracking modules when they are sitting in a station in Stanton? Or can you carry them with you and switch them on the fly? Didn't think so.
They've made statements on this and gave timeframes. There's no sense in adding the largest ships into the game when Stanton is the only thing they'd be used in. Expecting maybe the system after pyro or late pyro at the earliest

What do you want? Big ships without any functions on a server without server meshing, without npc's to hire and all this? Think before talking dude. Which ship do you want? A Hull D and E in one system? Or a Endeavor without any functions? This doesn't make any sense. IF they pull the people off of it - they said at some point that they wanted to continue do a second and third campaign. Also, I know a bit about running costs of large studios. Having that many people on constantly is normally deemed unsustainable, you only ramp up to those numbers when you crunch and finish critical parts. Most studios also outsource large portions of the work, look p.ex. at the credits of Forza Horizon 4 or 5: Lots of people (I think over 1000 too), but quite a lot of stuff is done by external teams around the globe. Also a reason why game companies often only provide the people with fixed 1-2 year contracts and only extend those immediately before they run out, unless the people are in an important position. Especially in Europe where, depending on the time you were with the company, they have to terminate your contract (if it is not time-limited) 3-6 months in advance. They can fire you immediately and deny you access to the facilities, but they will have to pay you your salary then for the rest of the legally mandated time (in Germany you count as being "freigestellt" in such a case).

Great idea, hope it keeps the Scorpius/galaxy twin peaks chin.
That exactly what I'm looking for. Cutlass and Freelancer are not really my style. When they announced Spirit, I thought it would be my moment, but it's a complete disappointment.

@@JINGWA64 Actualy they don't need any more revenue, they already have enouth to finish the game even if they stopped getting any more income.
Maybe.

Strawman / Declaration from Ignorance
Ie not to be taken seriously

I like the concept, but just as a reminder:
Don't cut slices out of new cakes when you haven't finished the previous ones.
There are a bunch of ships that are not sufficiently finished and buggy. I can't really think of buying new ships with good conscience considering how ship releases go.
They're pushed out and then not worked on for years. A pretty bad offender is the Argo RAFT, with basically each update something is more broken. (as of 3.17.4)
As a consumer, I have to raise a big red flag here. The ships should be in tip top condition.
There is no good reason not to polish them up as shiny as possible, apart from functionality that is not in the game yet of course.
EDIT:
the RAFT issues are:
Elevator only works from the outside, meaning you can enter, but not leave the ship.
(HUD misaligned, but that's basically across all of the ships, some worse, some better)
When locking doors, there is a chance they won't unlock anymore, trapping you inside. Again an issue most if not all ships with door locks have.
Yes, the ship flies and isn't fundamentally broken, but by now, after so many years AT LEAST the ships need to perfect.
Elevator issues got nothing to do with ships. It's elevator issues.

Although I plan on picking up a $5 CCU to the Galaxy with store credit just in case they don't. after having looked at it for a time, I also have to add that I do not find it attractive at all.
Dangit. My lawyer now has to adjust my will to include a Galaxy to my grand children, when it comes out.
#GrumpyGamerWasRight.
It's beyond low, literally every video coming out of this channel is pure ship marketing intended to sell dreams
Will the Galaxy arrive in game soon? What about the last RSI capital ship? Or the one before that? Or the dozen or so other capital concepts?
Supposedly the Galaxy is beyond the concept phase?
We didn't even get the Polaris update we were told was coming! It's now coming SoonTM!!!
You just decided to come here and be frustrated no matter what, didn't you
They've made statements on this and gave timeframes. There's no sense in adding the largest ships into the game when Stanton is the only thing they'd be used in. Expecting maybe the system after pyro or late pyro at the earliest
@@pungivergiverofpuns3611 This would be great news and should be the norm going forward, some of the older stuff is coming up on ten (10) years in concept land
CIG always knocks concept designs out of the park. Need to focus on the completion rate now. Variants of existing ships like the Pisces Rescue... is genius.
not buying concepts, only ships that are in game.. getting a bit worried about the ship backlog
I bought the complete pack, so my grandchildren can enjoy it when it gets ready. Don't have children yet though
Love it. $500 million dollars in and they’re still pumping out JPEGs without delivering on things that are years old already
All together, not one after the other
What do you want? Big ships without any functions on a server without server meshing, without npc's to hire and all this?
Think before talking dude.
Which ship do you want? A Hull D and E in one system?
Or a Endeavor without any functions?
This doesn't make any sense.
And they are bringing old ships flight ready, but sale new ones too because the whole studios are growing up and this means, more fresh money is needed.
No fresh money, no development. That's very easy to understand when you spend only one minute more to think about it.
@@MindBurntDE Well maybe they should not sell those ships then yet. The jpgs of those ships of course i mean.
@@MindBurntDE it’s almost like you shouldn’t sell a product when you aren’t capable of delivering. It’s been ten years and we’ve been hearing about “server meshing” being around the corner forever now.
Did you stop to think that something’s a bit odd that after 10 years of dev time and all this money there’s so many basic systems that were promised that are no where near completion.
“No fresh money, no development.” So you agree they’ve completely failed to budget and deliver appropriately so they’re now forced to sell more promises to produce past promises. Really sustainable. What a great company!
@@MindBurntDE OK, how about the five modules they sold for the Retaliator, or the "BUK/rooms" they sold for the Vanguards, or the cargo boxes on the Hull-A & Raft? What's the holdup on all that SMALL modularity I wonder......
Maybe YOU should think before making more excuses for them. CIG have no trouble whatsoever making excuses, THEY have YEARS of experience.
Modular ships that do not have their modules so far - Vanguard, 600i, Caterpillar, Carrack, Endeavor, etc...
How about CIG make one working modular ship rather than releasing another concept.
great. So i can expect Cat modularity to come out before the galaxy is flyable, right ? ... riiight ?:P

If they were working on ships, we'd at least have ships.
New ships will be the most boring part of Star Citizen until they actually provide new gameplay functions.
Until they provide new gameplay, new ships are the least boring part of Star Citizen.
Not for me.

I questioned why this IAE was not focused on new salvage ships/vehicles since we're getting that new gameplay feature. (The Drake Vulture is not a new ship. It's an old ship being finished)
"I was asking if you've ever been aboard a Galaxy class starship before, Sir."
I'm looking forward to seeing what the RSI Universe class might be. XD
It’s an awesome idea but if it’s taken almost 10 years for my BMM to even start going thru grey box and final art in some stages so my hopes of these larger ships coming to the verse in a reasonable time frame is very hard to believe but I’m really liking the look of this beast and hope to see it in the verse soonTM
Active development began in 2015 with 100 staff on each game. When 42 drops there will be 1400 solely focused on the PU
They can fire you immediately and deny you access to the facilities, but they will have to pay you your salary then for the rest of the legally mandated time (in Germany you count as being "freigestellt" in such a case).
secret found "release date 15 jan 2024" i do it because im mad at them and i know the intel. is showed in a cryptic anounce in the last month subscribers magazine. Saying they are hiring people for work in pyro. like a winky winky. ;) also for game developers we already knew the partial date, and knew it was comming on 2024. They already have all the tech, and now are just implementing into the game, one by one, persistence, servermeshing, render gen12 with vulkan, evey they said the engine will have RTX rendering.
You guys realise that when you introduced the C8R, and adjusted the access to the pisces hull... you forgot to put a button on the standard C8? Now you can't get in to the C8.
I can't wait to fly the Galaxy in Pyro 20 years from now 👌
This will be a great ship to look at u my hanger for the next decade
The C8R is amazing! Great Work Guys ❤
can't bed log in it :(

Good to see modularity is still alive. I'm anxious for when we can swap modules in and out for all the modular ships.
