I was lucky enough to see Tom Petty with my Dad back in 2001 and that man played a 5 hour set and literally every song he played for the entire 5 hours was a chart topping hit that everyone knew. He's made so much amazing music it's astonishing. So much talent, we lost a treasure when he died. We will never forget the legend. RIP Tom Petty.

I saw him with my dad when they were touring with Joe Cocker. Amazing concert. It was my dad’s last before losing him to cancer. Now Joe and Tom are gone too. Time marches on... 😔

I was fortunate enough though to get to go to two more concerts with my dad, both Pink Floyd tribute bands, The Australian Pink Floyd Show and El Monstero. My dad was a huge Pink Floyd fan and Tom Petty was probably his next favorite. At the concert we were at Tom's opening act was Jackson Browne, the whole event was out of this world. I'll never forget that day.
He was #1 on my list to see for many years. I had a feeling that the last time he came through my area, it would be my last chance but I figured it would be because he wanted to spend time with his grandchild... His passing gutted me. He and Prince both had their lives cut short due to the same evil and both cut me to the core. At least I did get to see Prince live. I have been a TP fan since I was 12 years old. I will be 54 in May.
RIP. The loss of Tom Petty was great. Most of us...our teenage years were filled with his great music. He was a musical genius and master songwriter.

An American Icon, an American Legend who had worked with just about everyone at one time or another. He doesn’t necessarily look like it but he always did things his way and didn’t take shit off anyone including record labels. He even fought other peers’ fights for them. Mad respect! The last couple years of his life (I believe) he had serious hip problems that caused him pain but would not cancel his shows because he didn’t want to disappoint his fans and in so doing ended up going into cardiac arrest due to his dependency on opioids. I love him and always will but upset that he didn’t take care of himself. We would have been disappointed but having his music taken from us forever is way more disappointing.
