I ride this all the time for work. Love riding Sunrail, it's so easy to do. Just wish we had weekends and more nighttime trains. Great vlog! We have a lot of trains on our channel...Brightline...SunRail.....Amtrak. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
While it doesn't really serve I-Drive where we're staying next year, the video has got us thinking about maybe visiting the city centre on public transport to grab some beers one day. Never been in ten years of visiting! Lot of level crossings compared to the UK rail network!
We've done Uber or Lyft to Downtown Orlando while staying at Universal for the bars. I wish they'd expand the train routing more to incorporate the parks, I-Drive, etc. It would certainly ease traffic and allow for more beverage consumption.
Just did my first ride on Sunrail from Orlando Health to Winter Park and back. Was honestly impressed. Clean trains, cheap fares, very friendly staff, half hourly peak service, some decent transit oriented development around a few of the stations. I would love to see what the future brings for Sunrail, especially if the airport to Disney Springs line is built. Lots of potential for great improvements like transit oriented development around most stations 15 minute frequencies (At least on a short turn section), possible transitioning to electric kiss or flirt train sets. Florida is definitely unexpectedly good when it comes to rail transit and sun rail is no exception.
This just makes me sad that I can't use it at night to go to solar bears or city games and then can't use it at all on weekends. Sunrail just makes me sad in general. We rode it once to go to a game knowing we would have to uber back. Absolutely loved riding it into the city and wished we could have taken it back.
A few times out the window on the way to Sanford you can see a river and some beautiful parks, but mostly you can just see where houses, backyards and woods
Thanks for this video! I’ve been wondering about this train! Reminds me of New Jersey Transit, but clean! Wish they’d expand and make it super useful! They’d get so many cars off the roads!
Ha! I was just talking about NJ Transit with a buddy of mine bc he is up that way this week. It is like the commuter trains up that way and cleaner (and less destinations).
@@enjoystraveling"north of Winter Park" makes it sound like it's just the next suburb or so, lol. DeLand is a whole 40 miles away, and several stations already in between.
It goes down to that general area on its way to Kissimmee, but the closest stop is all the way at Meadow Woods which is 13 miles away from Disney Springs and even further from the WDW Transportation Center. They'd need a bus service to do that. Or alternatively build a rail line from Meadow Woods to the WDW Transportation Center (and make it 3ft gauge pulled by restored or custom built steam locomotives pulling open-ended coaches just as Walt Disney would want it), but that's unlikely to happen.
Yeah, you’re right not a lot to see but then you have the choice to put on your headphones and play games on your phone since you don’t have to drive or you can talk to your friends like I do
Hopefully they will make this like the monorail in Minnesota...I didn't need to rent a car, took the train from airport to hotel for free and rode the train everywhere else for cheap
I took the city bus from Orlando airport international Drive for about two dollars !! I don’t enjoy renting a car because it’s so expensive and as stressful city, I don’t know very well.
Thanks for sharing this experience. It’s something we haven’t done ourselves since the majority of the places we like to go to would require funding additionally transportation once we got off at a stop near where we were going. For us, it’s still better and cheaper to drive where we want to go.
When the weather permits, if you're not handicapped or elderly, small folding bikes can be taken everywhere. The landscape's level & the city & burbs provide wide multi-use paths everywhere to roam about on. It's one of the main draws for us in FL
Tampa is too distant for a regional commuter service like SunRail. But you could take Amtrak's Silver Meteor from Tampa to Orlando and then transfer at Orlando Health/Amtrak and take SunRail down to Kissimmee. You'd still need to take Lynx Line 55 from Kissimmee to WDW, though.
I’m a Tampa native that has lived in Atlanta and utilized the metro transit system, with that being said Tampa is so far behind when it comes to rail which really sucks , especially when Tampa once had one of the best street car systems in the country before the 50’s
Can you easily walk from the station at Kissimmee to get to the restaurant or is it a long way or is it in a desolate area? I’m a good walker, but I don’t like to walk when nothing in between.
Sunrail honestly kinda baffles me. It's a full heavy rail service along a single north-south corridor through Orlando, that doesn't actually stop at any convenient locations and only runs on weekdays. Honestly, Orlando would have been better off with a tram network. But at least the trains themselves are nice.
The trains are really nice. Agreed about the stops along the way. Orlando really needs an expansion of train services as CFL continues to boom population wise.
Sadly we had an opportunity to vastly improve public transit, which is badly needed, but it overwhelmingly lost at the ballot box in 2022 because people did not want to raise sales tax by 1% (50% of the funding was going to come from tourists and the tax wasn't going to be applied to basic necessities, but people still voted against it).
@@jeffc1347 They probably could have lowered that to a 0.5% increase if they took funds out of the budget for political campaign ads. ...yeah, the incumbent governor is allowed to use taxpayer dollars for that shit in this state.
I agree that a lot of the stops are not useful. . You need a car in the parking lot or if the shuttle has a good schedule at the train stop but there are a few useful ones such as in winter park you can walk from the train stop to the part of Winter Park that has the restaurants and the museum And two other ones like that
Having recently suffered I4 (and I17 & I27) traffic I can't understand why this service is so under utilised. Probably needs some sort of expansion or link out to Disney & Universal to be truly valuable.
great video. I've ridden the sunrail every day for 3 years. thanks for covering this underrated train service!!

In Kissimmee there’s a free rideshare called Freebee that runs weekdays 6AM-9PM that takes you anywhere in downtown Kissimmee
This is brilliant Kyle. Really hope they expand the service. Thanks for highlighting this train service x
I like the Sun Rail! Enjoyed the trip a few times! Thank you very much for sharing!

@@ViewFromTheCheapSeats yeah it's kind of limited right now without an airport and tourist area link.

Is there an updated list of good pub crawl or breweries near sunrail stops. Few UA-cam videos are quite old.
This is a good idea! I wish I had a source, sorry. If you know the station stops, you can zoom in on google maps & perhaps find walking distance pubs.
A few times out the window on the way to Sanford you can see a river and some beautiful parks, but mostly you can just see where houses, backyards and woods
Oops, I was spelling mistake. I can blame it on the computer., warehouse not where house
Cool, we keep meaning to ride it just to see
We kept saying we wanted to try it out for years and finally were able to get on while being off on Monday.
I haven’t been on the sunrail since they been free when it first opened up
It was our first time!
@@ViewFromTheCheapSeats wow 😯 hope you guys enjoyed it
Nice tour. Haha, just got back from a week on the Poconos for Christmas. Could see Big Boulder from our back window.

Is now expanding it to Deland north of Winter Park and I believe they expected to be open and June since they’ve already built the track there now.

Awesome video. I really enjoyed this. It reminds me of the train ride in Dallas, Texas.
Thank you very much!
Really enjoyed watching this - it was something different!
My takeaway was wow three levels. I don't know much about trains but I expected only 2.
The 3 levels are surprising b/c it doesn't look that tall from the outside.
Thank you for this video...I saw that this train was by my hotel in downtown Orlando and was wondering if this would be good to get around
She is having so much fun 😂
Wow. Very nice. Does the sunrail reach Disney World too? That would be awesome.
It does not. There’s an explanation in the video about the destinations.

I really want Sunrail to go to Lakeland.
Brightline received funding & is studying the rail corridor to connect Orlando to Tampa.

Wishing the Lady friend had a more enjoyable experience.
Thank you my friend nice video. I’m in vacation right now and I have a station very close to my house and I want to make a train field with my Family.
How long does the train stay stopped at each stop
This was filmed a while back and I'm not positive, but I'd think about 5 minutes per stop.
Hearing the safety announcement it is very much like the UK one. “See it, say it, sorted.” is ours.
The encouragement of Big Brother is everywhere. :)
@@ViewFromTheCheapSeats well, it’s better than the train company having 25 umbrellas or sweaters, and bags each week that people forgot
