I checked out the length of the train. It's 493 feet long. Traveling at 110 mph, it would cross the intersection in 3 seconds. Not much of a wait. No reason to jump the gun here.
People might say that 110 mph isn't that fast, but for US I'll take it. ("Baby steps" is good). Good job Brightline! Can't wait till this leg is in operation. Nice job on the drone shots @The Roaming Railfan (esp picking out great locations to take them; nice scouting.)
I agree. Other nations with HSR networks had the benefit of working with an existing passenger rail network + a society used to taking trains everywhere. Due to the dismantling of inter-city passenger train routes in most states post-WW2, we're basically having to rebuild or reactivate our inter-city passenger rail services from scratch. This is what I'd call a good start.
WOW! This puts Florida on the map for High Speed Rail! Stunning Achievement, admirably documented by you Austin! More stunning drone work, spectacular, just the BEST! We all are so fortunate to be updated with your video work, just perfection. I AM A BIG FAN!❤️
I was hoping you would document the speed test and so happy you were there ! It's a time to celebrate this important step in the progress of running at higher speeds and it didn't disappoint. You had fantastic drone footage ( as usual ), but the ground level footage with "Bright Green" at speed was exciting to say the least. Have you heard any progress reports on further expansion on to Tampa ? Thanks again for all your work and dedication on the building of Brightline.
Dude your coverage of this is awesome! It looks so cool running that close to the intercoastal. Perfect time of day to do the test runs because FEC trains typically run at night.
I saw the test runs on my bus ride home from school yesterday, I thought I saw the crossing lights at Walton road were activated, so I jokingly said to my friend, “hey look, a train is coming” not knowing if the crossing was actually activated or not. Sure enough, literally 1 second after I said that, I faintly saw the tail end of the train go by and said, “oh there actually was a train coming”. Me, my friend, and the bus driver all started laughing about the whole thing. It’s a true memory that will now live rent free in my head.
Thanks so much for sharing this footage. Really nicely done. Keep up the good work. Hopefully everything goes smoothly to open passenger service next year.
I’m so looking forward to this. Brightline trains are very clean and comfortable, their Terminals are like better Airport Terminals - clean and spacious! Thanks for the excellent footage bro. I currently take the Brightline train from Fort Lauderdale to Miami generally to go sight seeing and enjoy a restaurant or two. 💙
Very cool! I saw the Brightline train when I had a layover at Fort Lauderdale Airport. It's a nice train. I hope that it interacts with Amtrak trains. Maybe I'll ride the Brightline one day.
I'm basically moving back to Miami for work, but honestly I love orlando way more, if this thing go as planned I rather take the train every day to Miami back and forth than moving to Miami, 6 hours that I can use for more productivity. Can't wait, trying to find information but no luck.
I have always been jealous of the high speed trains in Europe. Having riden several DB trains around Germany., I have been waiting to see trains like that in the USA. So happy they are close to home! Cannot wait to take the train to Miami!
This is the future of HSR in the US. Instead of spending a decade building 200+ mph projects, we should instead focus on getting all of our track up to class 6 and running diesel trains at 110mph.
Great video. But from the european view (I am in Germany) this isn’t really fast. Many highspeed trains operate at about 150 mph and some even on 185 mph. But as I said, great video and especially great drone shots. I wonder which is your maximum speed you could keep up with.
@@RoamingRailfan very cool. Normal rail is a necessary backbone for future HSR. I have a good feeling that we will see planning and construction of many lines in the US start this decade
What speeds on what parts will the train be allowed to travel between Miami and Orlando? Would be nice to see a video about planned operation on the track
@@RoamingRailfan Will there be additional testing from Cocoa to Orlando similar to the testing shown in the video (once tracks are complete), except with the 125 mph target speed?
If fare payer numbers made it necessary, could extra passenger cars be easily inserted to these 1-4-1 formations and, if so, is there a maximum? With two locomotives, maybe as much as 1-8-1? Are stations designed to accommodate lengthened trains?
@@RoamingRailfan Thanks for your reply. Another thing I've noticed is that the trains are currently using both tracks to travel in the same direction. Is that to even wear, maybe bed in the new tracks? I assume the lines are signalled for bi-directional operation? Thanks again from the UK.
Great work Brightline, now this video needs to be seen by our Federal Department of Transportation and Amtrak for sure. Let’s get going before newly elected officials pull the plug on the infrastructure bill. If that happens, the USA goes back into the dark ages con the Federal level.
Thank you for letting people know not to cross and enter unto the railroad tracks illegally, people don't seem to understand how dangerous trains are when they are approaching, people are brainless when it comes to this.
There's something wonky with the framerate of your video here. Especially in the passing shots it jigs and jags and skips frames. It looks like you converted the framerate to a different rate and then back to 30 fps.

110 mph is already proper fast. Here in Germany, the maximum allowed speed on sections with grade crossings is actually "only" 160 Km/h ~ 100 mph
i like the green lush vegetation on either side of the line
I live in Orlando and work at a Disney hotel at Disney Springs and this channel has been my #1 source for the brightline project. Thank you!!
I rode the Brightline from WPB to Miami and back this year. Very convenient and excellent service. Well worth it. Beats sitting in traffic on I95
Oh hey, a proper passenger service in the USA outside the Acela! About time!

Seeing the bullet fly at 110MPH was a real treat!!! ❤❤❤
I cannot wait until it hits 125MPH on the Cocoa to Orlando section!
Nicely filmed, this train is going to continue to be the flagship for faster rail in the US
I cant wait to go 110 MPH to my next cruise!
I used to have a Lego Passenger Train set that looked similar to this. Idk what it is about trains they’re just fun.
Thanks so much for sharing this footage. Really nicely done. Keep up the good work. Hopefully everything goes smoothly to open passenger service next year.
Great drone work! Lovely pans and tracks. Bet its not as easy as you male it look.
These shots are incredible, I was particular impressed with the shot from 10:13- 10:29
Awesome! Can’t wait to ride!! 🎉🎉
Thanks for taking the time to video edit and post. Your drone work was excellent.
Yeah, what are you flying? Impressive zoom and pan ability, from both you and the equipment
Amazing drone work! (Again!)
Historic milestone. I can't wait to ride this thing next year. I WILL fly out for Day 1 if my schedule allows.
Glad to see Brightline getting up to speed.
Thanks for the update..👍👍👍😎
Awesome job Austin.
Thank you, great video. Nice to see them running. 👍👍
good job filming these

From Miami to Orlando will feel like super man and the flash ⚡
the train and new tracks look very good
Amazing that Florida has high speed rail before California.
Thank you

amazing video man, also are they still going to do the 10 car config to Orlando or not at first?
They’ll start with 4 car trains and increase over time.
Excellent video!
When will Bright line to Orlando will be Finish
This year

6:10 - 6:40 Holy crap, that is some Shinkansen level acceleration right there
Yeah that was pretty nice. Diesel electric is no slouch :)
Great video .

Fantastic!
Do we have a timeframe for the Boca Raton opening or a definitive date? Thank you
On track to open by the end of the year
Exciting to see Brightline make further progress! Do you know what the plans are for fully grade-separating the route?
That will never happen

completely unrelated question to trains, but is the big white building you see north up the coast Kennedy space center
Not in this video, that’s a power plant. In some of my other videos around Cocoa you can see the space center.
Will Brightline raise the speed limit between West Palm Beach and Miami to 110 mph?
No, they will remain at 79mph.
Great video. But from the european view (I am in Germany) this isn’t really fast. Many highspeed trains operate at about 150 mph and some even on 185 mph. But as I said, great video and especially great drone shots. I wonder which is your maximum speed you could keep up with.
Do they have two different drivers, one on the front engine and one on the rear?
No, the crew also changed ends of the train when they changed direction. This was also so they could inspect the train after each test.
why did they build for 110mph? I am surprised they did not go for 125mph
110 is the maximum speed allowed to have grade crossings. The new line between Cocoa and Orlando will be 125.
@@RoamingRailfan thank you

79 from Miami to West Palm Beach, 110 West Palm Beach to Cocoa, 125 Cocoa to Orlando

@@RoamingRailfan That train is going to take that turn after the Stuart bridge at 110 mph?
It will be slower there and at other locations, the speeds I wrote are just the maximum for those segments
So is this whole section newly built or was it simply rebuilt?
1 track is brand new, the second is a rehabilitated existing track.
If fare payer numbers made it necessary, could extra passenger cars be easily inserted to these 1-4-1 formations and, if so, is there a maximum? With two locomotives, maybe as much as 1-8-1? Are stations designed to accommodate lengthened trains?
Yes, the trains can be expanded in the future as demand increases. The platforms are built for a maximum of 10 coaches and 2 locomotives.
@@RoamingRailfan Thanks for your reply. Another thing I've noticed is that the trains are currently using both tracks to travel in the same direction. Is that to even wear, maybe bed in the new tracks? I assume the lines are signalled for bi-directional operation? Thanks again from the UK.
Both tracks are signaled in both directions and can be used interchangeably as operations require
At 110mph, how many seconds of warning from flashing lights to the train through the crossing?
Should be around 20-25 seconds for all trains regardless of speed thanks to some upgraded crossing controls.
Keep it affordable, reliable and on time, and this might work. If anything for people going to the theme parks.
Were both engines under power when making these speed runs?
Yes
I hear they will be running t 125mph... is this bad info?
125 will only be on the section between Cocoa and Orlando. The maximum speed on the Florida East Coast Railway corridor is 110.
@@RoamingRailfan TY!

I thought it was supposed to be 125 mph on this section to Orlando.? Or is it just this spot its gonna run at 110mph?
125 is only Cocoa to Orlando. 110 is the max between West Palm Beach and Cocoa.
I guess that since the train is large, 110 mph does not look all that fast. Did you feel the wind from the passing train going so fast?
I could feel some wind
I hope to soon see going 15 miles per hour more than this, 125 mph on their line between Cocoa and Orlando
😎

It was all shot at 30fps so not sure why it would do that
Why are trains in the US always honking when arriving at a crossing? It adds unnecesary noise pollution
It’s federal law to blow 2 long blasts, a short, and a long before every crossing
Except for designated quiet zones which have to have special protections
We need more of this 🚉 train
Thank you.
