- Here is the one thing that the BLINK camera system does not do and I wish it did. I also wish I knew this before I bought the camera.

Honestly, this was the most helpful video that I’ve come across while doing my homework on the Blink security cameras. I had narrowed my list down to the Blink cameras, but after finding out things like this and a few of their other issues, I’m right back to square one.
We have had our Blink Cameras now for 3 years. They have held up and work great.....but they have negatives. For us they are not a deal breaker but I can see how they might be for some

This is the worst video possible you could have watched this guy knows nothing about the blink cameras you can obviously record while on live view for like 10 minutes!
Just click the "early notification" to ON in each cameras settings when motion is detected you will get a notification on phone saying motion detected ( if all notifications on phone are set to ON for the blink app in the phones settings ) slide the notification bar open without going into the app and it will take you straight to live view and you can view and talk as it happens. I have the Outdoor system and it works fine.a good investment is micro usb cable extension for power to each camera, then you can max all settings and live stream all day and not worry about batteries,hope this helps.
So then is this poster completely wrong? It then IS possible to view LIVE on a Blink setup?

@@amrunner4 absolutely you can view live . Just do what that person above said.
But, if you live on a busy street let's say, And your motion detection picks up the cars or anything, you will have 40,000 notifications in 1 hour
I just got the micro usb cables about a week ago and maxed all my settings. Wayyyy better. 💪
Really good review. I like seeing what stuff doesn’t do. Makes it super clear that this is not a “monitor security system “. Get a doorbell camera if you want to interact with someone at your door. Another thing this system doesn’t do very well is night vision. Infrared light is weak. If your coverage area is lit up it works great.
Did you try changing the IR settings in the app to high?
Blink makes a doorbell camera u can add to the system and it solves that problem . Not expensive
I have a very dark setting around my house, not a whole lot of light and my blink camera are great on night vision.
Add a sync module 2. It will let you live view and send the live view through your echo show devices. You can literally say show me the front door.
How do you do this???
Please tell me how because I just installed mine and I can not get the live view option on my doorbell I got the subscription as well.
Yea like do I have buy a separate screen for that to happen or it will show me on my iPhone?

Blink can have live view, with subscription plan. This is stored to cloud, also adding a sync 2 with stick will allow too.
How does this work we bought the subscription and don’t know how to do it

It doesn’t have live preview in Home Screen! You need to click each camera and wait 5-7 seconds it loads. Terrible flaw, only useful for record and views later not monitor
JUst add a second camera that is in OFF mode, Then when you get alert from 1st camera, turn on second and use live view.

Can do early notification, then click it and you will be able to do a live view while someone is at the front door, the blink is a great camera overall considering no wired and its wifi too its just a matter of going into the settings and setting it up yourself and experimenting with it till you get it to your liking.

@@ikeaalexander5517 so when you look at the cameras youll click on the individual settings for each camera that allows you change the sensitivity and from there it gives you that option as well

Yes that’s true but there is also a setting to prevent that, you need to set them up to quit recording when motion stops and it will help this situation…. What I have also learned is, install an additional camera that you can always access while the other camera is recording, because when you access live it also starts recording for as long as your watching it…. So you will never have this problem if you buy additional cameras a place close to the already recording camera….. seems a bit much but if this is a problem for you, that’s what I would do, and I have already done…. I have a completely separate camera system close to my blink camera that I can see as well…. Very nice set up I have, all the cameras work as they should…. I think it really just comes down to your settings, 60 seconds a a good bit…. Also your battery life has got to suck LOL
Thé Blink mini motion sensors can be bypassed. First, a set of 2- either 2 people or a dog and a person walking slowly about 4 feet apart one in front of the other passes the camera. The next person or truck won’t trigger the camera. I found this out on my first day using the mini.

Maybe blink updated there system, but I have blink doorbell and wireless cameras and I have no problem with live view. Mines works flawless. I don't have to wait to view live if something triggers the camera

How did you get it like that? We want to be able to watch the live view without getting a notification. Maybe we just want to pop the live view on and see what’s going on

A problem I have with mine. I wished I could continuously monitor it and watch the backyard consistently instead of just in little spots and short clips.
You can, you just have to click continue each time it pops up, it does this in case of accidental access
I could always go into live mode when my camera is recording. On the other hand youre correct that you cant switch from one camera to another while doing live view. What i do is i click on one camera once im done viewing, i close the app and open it again and go to the other cameras live view and repeat tbe steps again to go on other cameras live view. Its a head ache but i live the blink cameras. I have mines set up for 10seconds and when you go To the notification it will continue recording.

You can't set a doorbell camera up high like you can with Blink. Got those wires to deal with as well.

No. I was just forced to go to these blink cams when Amazon killed the Amazon Cloud cam service and this is still 100% accurate. It absolutely sucks you cannot view something if it's already recording. And it can only record for maximum of 30 seconds and then as long as your timing it you can jump in real quick and live you but it's not going to record while you're Live viewing. This Blink system sucks. Meanwhile the Amazon Cloud cam service was absolutely flawless. Not only did it record while you were live viewing but if you were speaking to someone through it and went back to watch the video later you can actually hear the actual conversation from both sides on the recording. This is like two light years back.
Hey you know what you is so right and they also said that you can talk on it but it's so crazy cuz I can't talk on mine and I just bought it and then the color is dark and it stay that is a two-way doorbell and it's not like I'm so mad cuz I want to see live

Which version camera are you using? Do all of their devices not do live video while recording? And which kind of camera are you using for the front door? The Doorbell kind or the square Outdoor camera? Side note: I am wondering why bother with the doorbell model if you already have a common doorbell and if both the doorbell and the outdoor camera model both do the same thing..

Yea many things this will not do but dam it is it easy to install lol.
So I opted not to pay for the plan and bought the unit and a jump drive for storage. My thirty days of free service ended. WHAT I'M NOT seeing now is the little preview clips and also the ability to mark and "delete all" feature. I can click on each thumbnail and open it and delete it one at a time. It seems to me without seeing the little thumbnail preview it defeats the reason for me seeing someone breaking into my home without having to open EVERY CLIP that happens that hour, day, week, or month. I've checked all my settings they all appear correct. Is this what happens when you don't pay for the plan that they don't tell you?

My video is super blurry right out of the box any advice?
It sends a notification to your phone, but there is no way to turn the volume up fir the tone. I need something to wake me if someone is breaking into my car at 3:30 a.m. - the video is not good enough ti identity what the person looks like (especially at night).
FAIL! - for my needs
No big downside I have my camera set to only 5 second recording That's what it starts with..
Records 5 seconds then starts over again with more motion.
The whole point is to see who's there get your notification then go to live view and see what's going on
I don't know why you need 60 seconds.
It triggers you let you know the shorter the better to get into live you tell them to get away or call the police
That’s why I loved Amazon cloud cam , blink won’t record on the other cams until it’s done recording on one, the Amazon cloud cam did everything

I am more interested in recording close up of birds the visit my feeders I do not have or need a cell-phone

I have my blink mini cameras on the inside of my windows to monitor outside instead of putting outdoor cameras. My problem is that at night all they show is black lighting. They work great in the daytime. Can someone help me figure out how to fix this, please? Thank you.
It is the glare coming off your windows at night sounds stupid but it is open up the window at night and turn your camera on and you will see the difference or you don't have night vision on camera I did that with mine and then just took them out side because I had a window glare

go to settings and enable Early Notifications, When you get the notification it will automatically take you to live mode

What if you set settings to 10 seconds on door bell to be able to go to live view?

Any chance you could tell me how to get sound for notifications? I just got 2 today and the notifications are working but no sound! Its kinda pointless to own it if I have to stay awake to monitor it. Please help!?
Turn the notification sound on in your phones settings. If your phone makes a sound when others apps send you a notification it should do the same when blink sends a notification.

Yes
You can disable motion detection and then go in and click on live view. However, if you do this you will NOT get a notification when something moves.
Aaron, how do you get a notification of movement when you turn off motion detection?
@@ReSellNinja no your right. What I ended up doing was turning my sensitivity down to 3. Because I live on a busy street and it was picking up every car that went by. I was getting like 400 notifications. So I turned down the sensitivity to 3.
@@aaronsmith2310 you could have just used the feature that lets you block motion detection on the actual street where the cars are going by all the time and your problem would have been fixed. I live in apartments and mine is overlooking my balcony so I have tons of traffic going to all day and night. That feature saved my batteries like crazy haha!

I've got a blink 5 camera system and I'm not a happy camper, from the limited 110 degree viewing angle, the speaker quality is terrible, the electronic noise the cameras pick up you can't hear squat and the night vision sucks! Shit, I added 2 more cameras and still can't see every area around my house. If you look on cl, marketplace etc. someone is always selling a blink setup to upgrade to a better security system.
