No Live Preview Blink Camera Fixed!!! But how

  • I wanted to share with you an issue where i lost my Blink Live Preview and also motion detection. I did many things but what finally seemed to be the fix was a little different and I'm not 100% it was the fix! So if you are having issues with your Blink Cameras see if anything here helps you at all. My cameras are all working great right now.

    Thx for the Video. I really appreciate your suggestions. I had the same problem as you, so I moved my Hub closer to my WiFi router and switched my cameras, and they started working as expected.

    Thanks for your video, I had the exact problem on 2 of mine. I rebooted the router and problem solved! Now I can go live on both of them.

    I know so many people having issues with live view and live view preview on the home page. I think this must be an issue with Blink. It's not a mistake that people are making at setup or install. It either works right out of the box or it does not. I'm going to play with my unit for another 2 to 3 days then return it if I can't get it working. Such a shame. A nice little setup otherwise.

      Yes, I agree its probably the blink system that's the issue. I had mine installed for several years before it began but it was right after I added 2 new cameras.

    Here is an easy fix. I had the same problem. I deleted the sync module and added it back and simply took the batteries out of the camera and put them back in. Problem solved.

      It worked! I deleted the sync module 2. I added the sync module 2 back, everything now works great.

      This worked didn't have to even touch the cameras in my case. Delete then readd to same location and all cameras live preview again

    The biggest thing I have against Blink is the motion notification I’ve talk to them and they don’t seem to care

    I have a Ring doorbell at my home in Mass. it is awesome, what I wanted was live view, and I have that. So, I cheaped out and bought a Blink for my house in Maine, and I keep getting event response. Ring is so much easier, thank you.

      I'm not sure what you mean by event response? I do now get live views on my blink cameras outside.

    Interesting. The only thing I can think of is that the batteries are getting low on the older cameras that put them below some threshold Blink has established in their software for live view, and then, by moving them around, you jostled the insides of the batteries just enough to give them a little more life. So if they stop working again, I'd say replace the batteries (if that isn't the first thing you did, of course). ...PS also from the 60s, but done with that. Last place I want to go to...

    I had major issues with live view, that got progressively worse even after rebooting the sync module multiple times, upgrading my xfinity router, etc. What worked for me (for now) was to reduce all of my cameras video quality to standard which is the recommended setting. Update: That only worked for a short time. (I even have my sync 2 module sitting right next to my wireless router but live view is sporadic, if at all.)

    That's too bad. Fortunately my notifications are pretty quick and accurate. My issue is that it starts at the exact time is has motion and i wish it would add a few seconds to the playback before the motion detection

    Had my cameras or over 4 to 5 years. 1 of my cameras has great wifi connection, and strong module connection. Also had fresh ultimate lithium energizer batteries but still wouldn't work with the live video or refresh the thumbnail picture. Finally I got it to work, by slapping in some cheaper AA batteries. I even re put the lithium energizers and wouldn't work so I put the heap ones in again and it seems like they like the cheaper stuff.

    I thought it was just me! I’m having the exact same issues, but I don’t even have the little live view or camera icons on my camera screen. I’ve done so many things like you to try and figure this out! I’ll try changing the cameras. Thx!

    Thanks for the vid. I have new (reburb by Amazon) Blink system with just two cameras set up now. Both worked great for a week. Last night one of the cameras went down exactly as yours did. Today I started my detective work. Just as your tests, nothing worked until I brought the camera in the house. Long story short, the range from that camera to the sync module has been cut in half. Still works fine just from not nearly as far away. I checked battery voltage and it had only dropped .1vdc, but changed them anyway with zero improvement. Wonder if you had the same issue and when you switched locations you brought the bad camera closer to the module? My other camera that works fine is much further away buy I am going to try the switch.***Just did the switch and the broke camera works and the working one does not. If seems for some reason in the middle of the night with no changes to anything, the Blink system no longer likes the position the camera was in. It appears this Blink system is going to be a pain to keep going.

      Just found my issue. Bad camera was under carport and when I pulled my truck back into the carport I was about one FOOT short of where I was. One foot made the difference in the camera communicating or not.

    Question. Did the proximity of the camera that was not working have anything to do with the camera not working with live view In other words, was this camera further from the Sync Module compared to the other cameras?

      No. I switch cameras so that they all had the opportunity to be equal distance from the link.

    i am also having the same issue as you had i also contacted support (correct) complete delay on there part still waiting for response i reset everything and bought a new cam and still did not work i returned the camera , i am grandfathered in paying no fees like you i am going to bring cam from another location like u did and see what happens i have 9 cam out side 5 inside !!!

      The positive note here is since they started working again, i have had no issues. It was very frustrating while two were out and i kept having to try different things as i show. All I can say is patience eventually paid off. My best to you.

    well god for you i tryed every thing resd all kind of post contacted blink still not working cant add camera and the others keep massaging me there busy i sort of gave up !

      I'm so sorry for you. I was on the verge of removing all my cameras but "lucked out" when it began working. It was very frustrating and took a bit of time.

    When you say that you switched cameras does that mean you switched them physically only , physically and renamed them or took the batteries out deleted the cameras and started from scratch and switched them ? Ty in advance 😊

      Do you think Direct sunlight on the blink camera can be a
      Factor? I am going to switch mine now from back to front. My front camera has not been showing the live view for a while. I took it down and it works inside but not when I place back in front.

      @@lisavann8278 Based on where my cameras were and are, i would say that direct sunlight was NOT an issue. Hope that helps.

      If seams to me that the issue was that the 2 different cameras have different wifi capability and the 2 locations have different signal strengh. When you switched them, you put the camera with weak wifi in the are with stronger wifi signal.

      @@regiegija 3 of the 4 cameras were in close proximity to the sync module. The fourth was working fine though a tood distance away. I have a Google Nest Mesh system and use the router with 2 points. I hadn't considered the WiFi to be an issue but perhaps you have a poont.

    I think Blink is screwing around with people who don't subscribe, as soon as my trial period was finished, suddenly I began to get an error message which says " Manifest Stale, please re-request" I can't get the cameras to record and I can't retrieve any clips I have on my Module 2 usb flash drive. 🤬

      Because I have a legacy account i haven't had to use the USB alternative so can't duplicate the issue. I did a little research which somethimes points to the USB drive and to try and change it. I found the following on one forum. I just fixed my problem. Hard reboot... unplugged the sync module then reconnected it to USB power in 15 seconds

      Sorry but I don't have the doorbell. My guess is yes, you should be able to have a live view. The link module should allow you to see it on the app

      The sync module is needed to connect your camera to your home network.

    I think the new has worn off from Blink. They have grown a lot so service now has issues. I am probably gonna have to do something different.

    Whata a legacy account? If my cameras arent showing on the app, its just blank..does that mean my cameras are disabled?

      Becuse of the age of my account, i don't need to pay a monthly subscription fee. If cameras not showing on the app, they have not paired with the sync box, i think. If you have blink cameras like I do, the sync module is what connects to the cameras and therefore to the app. Hope that helps.

    DON'T waste time like me. Try reducing the video quality of the problem cameras to the lowest video quality setting and then see if live view works.If it does then shut Blink app down and go back to settings and change quality back to standard. I spent hours trying different things until I tried doing that and it went back to normal etc. it's all to do with the WiFi talking to the camera

    Just bought the blink doorbell
    I can’t figure out how to go live with camera
    Plus alerts not ringing me on the phone
    How to fix?

      I'm not familiar with the doorbell. However, on my blink app, to go live i tap on the movie camera icon on the "home" page. I have an android phone and turn on notifications under "system" settings "notifications".

      There is no movie icon.
      There is a “Live View” box but it’s faded out. I can’t access it. No idea why.
      I bought Blink because it was cheaper. My Ring camera died after many years. I didn’t want to pay the extra money. But, I don’t like the Blink at all!
      Should have purchased the Ring again.

      @@moalf5088 this is terrible for you. My app has a photo of the individulal cameras that i had taken and each one has on the bottom a video camera icon and a photo camera icon. . I am sure the apps are the same so you should see these icons. Have you connected to the sync device and armed the doorbell?

      Yes. I put the newer cameras where the older ones were and vice versa. Made app adjustments. And then it worked. Frankly its hard to figure out exactly what happened and what finally fixed it but i did go through a bunch of items. I hope this helps.

      Typically, i get a notification quickly. I do agree that time to time it seems that there is a large delay in the camera noticing.

    Since Amazon took over blank, they’re fucking worthless. I’m having the same problem. I’m grandfathered in. I have 10 of these cameras and they’re all for security purposes but lately they have all started having problems and I’m just beyond disgusted with them. When I call AMAZON support For help they have absolutely no use to me. They can take the system and stick it clean up their ass. The worst thing that ever happened to blink was when AMAZON took over and it’s all their fault. They bought the company but they know absolutely nothing about it or technical support. They don’t know a damn thing about cameras, they just sell them, and all they want is more money.
