First time i heard In Flames, I was on a highway, in Germany, back 2008, “A Sense Of Purpose”. Too young enough, I was into this kind of Alternative Metal like Lost Prophets, Papa Roach and so on, and my first reaction over Sleepless Again was: WAS IST DAS SCHEISSE! It has a meaningful melancholic feeling for me, as well as nowadays Im into that Black Metal Akhlys, Aversio Humanitatis style.
Yeah, kind of a hybrid of mid-career in flames with some new / more brutal elements. I agree the chorus could go up a notch and send it into another dimension. I wonder if that was a dual Gelotte/Broderick solo.
I'm one of them, who like their early melodic death metal sound, but the album Foregone and this song (I like the corus, it's catchy) are a good return to form after several bad albums. It's nof a full return to their melodic death metal sound of the 90's but a good mix of this with their metalcore of the 00's. It's the best album that they released sice Clayman and is thus better than Come Clarity. When I think of their sound of the 90's, I see many similaritys with your sound. The catchy guitar melodies, the fast drumming and even the vocals (if don't count the improved technical possibilities from today) on songs like Artifacts of the Black Rain, Dead God in Me, Food for the Gods, Episode 666, Resin, ...as the Future Repeats Today and Clayman.
Great track from them in years. Love the older In flames, and i mean Lunar Strain album, Whoracle, Colony and Clayman albums. But One of my fave old melodic death metal bands would have to be the band: Gates Of Ishtar, their albums "a bloodred path" and "At dusk and forever" still the favorites here. Cheers from Denmark!
Have you listened to "the halo effect"? It's all past in flames members with Mikael stanne on vocals and Jesper Strömblad on guitars. They really do sound like a modern old in flames, their first album is very strong.
YES, "Jester Race" is an epic album. The "Subterranean EP" is very god too as well as "Lunar Strain", "Whoracle" is still okay.... BUT after that.... everything went down the hole.
@@RafaelCDet okay++ ;o) it's always about personal TASTE - others would say that IN FLAMES just became interesting to them with CLAYMAN or REROUTE TO REMAIN. When you are an old-school-fan you always will prefer the older stuff - same with METALLICA... there are the new-school-Metallica -fans who at best kicked in with the black album and dislike the stuff they did earlier because ENTER SANDMAN is their definition od Metallica... the old-schoolers will always prefer their first 3 albums and dislike everything after that. Similar with IN FLAMES and many other bands.
Finally In Flames seem to get back on track. I have another suggestion for you. Maybe you know about them, so just in case you don't... Please react to "Incantation" by Sulphur Aeon. I know you will love them. You will. They are so good and still pretty unknown...which is a shame... Sorry, not sorry...
I've known In flames since the cassettes days, so they could surprise me here ... but they didn't do it;) it's not a bad song, but also nothing that I haven't heard before.
Their first three or four albums were really good. This is definitely a step towards that direction. Their last few releases were basically just screamo metalcore. It’s good to see a return to their melodeath roots.
Even though I like some of In Flames songs that have just Alternative Metal in it, their Melodic Death Metal songs like this one are pretty much better.
Lost interest after Come Clarity. Haven't followed the band in years, BUT!!! it sounds like they are getting back to their roots, might be worth giving them a listen to again.
You know thats been a weakness for In Flames since come clarity or a bit earlier. Their chorus' aren't the strong part of the song, normally its a like a break from an awesome verse. And it makes it a bit anti climatic by comparison. Where as my favorite 3 In Flames, songs the chorus are the best parts. It's what im looking forward to. Embody the Invisible, Ordinary Story & Suburban Me.
they just got bitter by The Halo Effect's existence coz it was the most awaited band to be listened to than In Flames. anders were so bitter even when some of the interviewer asked him about Halo, he didn't want to answer it sincerely. you could see by his face when speaking about Halo. it's like a bitter ex-wife cannot see the ex-husband got more attention than her.
You should check out Dominus - The Raven's Eye, from the album View to the Dim (1995). It's an old viking death metal band from Denmark. ua-cam.com/video/N_Oy7qO3NLg/v-deo.html . This is Michael Poulsen before Volbeat - I think you'll be surprised. It's fantastic!
Im with you the 3 tracks they have released have been great but the chorus is sort of weak on this one. I am excited about this album. The last 2 tracks were much better in my opinion.
A weak chorus? I don’t see how that chorus kicks ass. Beautiful, raw lyrics with a good normal in flames chord progression don’t overthink things because you’re doing these reaction videos that are popular for some reason. Just smoke a joint n enjoy this perfect song, n btw every in flames record is awesome don’t listen to people that only like the 90s stuff, or late 2000s era. All in flames is amazing check em out they’ll become one of your favorites to
Still nothing like jester, whoracle, colony… that’s their original sound. Clayman was the change but still hard AF & still badass AF, after that it was still ok till after sense of purpose. Then I really wasn’t interested in them anymore… clayman was the 1st album I heard of them then I went backwards through to their albums yo lunar strain. So after sense of purpose was meh
I dont hear this Song. I like the Great Deviecer, State of Slow Decay is good but i dont like the clean Singing from this Song. Foregone pt 1 great Song!
I love to hear Swearing in your Accent Boris, I'm from New Zealand so we say Barrrstards!!! (We like to elongate our Rrr's when swearing/talkin'! -same thing!) 😱 Eg. Some of my favourite Blast/Beat moments are in this song by Jinjer, (they're from the Ukraine -"Teacher Teacher": ua-cam.com/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/v-deo.html
This is the best reaction in the history of reactions. I died laughing lol. "YOU FINISH THE SONG WITH BLAST BEATS?!?!?! 10/10" lmao
That end just kick you in the face, totally unexpected. I love it ❤
Come Clarity was not the old In Flames, try Jester Race and Subteranean !
Jester race is the GOAT
behind space is one of my favorite metal songs evAr🤘
My favourite are Colony and Clayman. But the earlier ones are awesome too.
@@hellsing1983 the vibes on these two albums are great. Melodies are top notch.
Lunar Strain!
Watching this guy get so psyched about blast beats always brightens my day.
Saw them in concert this year. They were awesome!
Saw them in concert this year, can confirm they are still awesome.
@@RealityMFictionsaw then last week, still confirmed
Man. If you haven't heard, Jester Race/Back Ash Inheritance. You haven't heard old In Flames.
1996
Maybe a reaction to Jesper, Daniel and Peter's new band The Halo Effect? That's 3 out of 5 mid era In Flames members.

State of Slow Decay has a better chorus. But all three new songs have been on the heavier side for more recent In Flames.
IN FLAMES We trust... Again!!
this channel deserve more imo

Can't wait to see what you think of their new single Meet Your Maker
I first heard of In Flames I was at Ozzfest. Long time ago. I really liked em and the next day got their CDs.
You should really listen to their The Jester Race album, it's amazing. You'll love it! Give it a try

„The Jester Race“ and „Colony“! Yet „Come Clarity“ is a great album.

1st (Lunar strain), 2on (subterranean), 3rd the( jester race) .....until Clayman from 2000, the rest for me is not death melodic, I just core metal.
