If you think Metallica sound is boring n average. Checkout black metal... the most monotonous sound n style in metal. Some good bsnds, but generally all the same churned out average music.

Metallica has some really poor production as a result of Lars not letting producers do their job. St Anger is awful.

The comments seem to be all dick sucking Metallica. You haven't said anything that takes away from their image. It's shit, it's generic Thrash metal, it's repetitive. Sure, they were some of the first to do it. But that's the only reasonable argument I could make up in their defense. There's bands that are lightyears beyond the shit Metallica plays. I don't understand the hype. Never have, never will.

If anything, Cliff was the band's quality control filter.

I respect your opinions, not going to be like "what, Metallica is the greatest ever!!!", that being said, I just don't get why you would post this... You start of by saying that you are and have been a Metallica hater for years, so obviously you are going into this with a negative mindset. It's like for example I were to make a video reacting to Mayhem songs while also openly saying at the start "I hate black metal" (I don't btw)... obviously I'm not going to like the music.

Wow saying Cliff Burton “sucks” is definitely an edgy opinion. He is considered a bass legend and anesthesia is kinda revered in metal.

Perspective is everything. You hear 'Hit the Lights' and it reminds you of other 80s thrash songs, but it came before ALL of them. Being 55, I bought Kill em All when it was new. It was devastating. But I can totally understand why it doesn't have the same effect on you now. Metal Militia was insanely fast in 1983. You really gotta think what else was available in 1983, Motorhead, Venom, Accept... first Slayer came out after KEA. The first three albums were masterpieces of their time, whether they still are is debatable. Justice is the first sucky album, but still WAY better than everything that came after it.

I grew up with Metallica. Recently I've gone back and listened to as many metal albums from specific years. It definitely gives you a completely different perspective on the band. Going from what was out there from 1980 to 1990 you can hear how things really evolved

I discovered this band and the album ‘Ride The Lightning” by accident goin through my local record store back in ‘84 and it changed my life. But ONLY the first 3 albums.

When one listens to nothing but Horna,Emperor,Marduk,Clandestine Blaze,Katharsis etc etc of freakin course your gonna think Metallica is boring😂. Damm Boris you must HATE classical music then

Metallica is enphe hard, fast, aggressive, and drinkable enough to open the door for people to metal. Metallica made thrash metal mainstream after all. I agree with you about Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets albums. RtL is underrating and MoP is overrating. Your opinion is fine. There is nothing wrong in that. I am sorry for St. Anger. Its realy bad start. St. Anger album was they therrapy album. It was a moment where they will break up, or continue forword. Four Horsmens song was a song of Dave Mustaine that left in Metallica after his ejecting from bus. He did not like finale product, so he do his own version on first Megadeth album, by name Mechanic. I really want to se compering those songs. Keep it up with your work, I like to hear anothers opinions, although they differ, because only with a normal discussion can we reach new knowledge. If you'll have gig in Serbia, in Novi Sad, I want to hear you live, although black metal is not my jam. 🤘🤘🤘

I absolutely agree on MoP. I personally am not very fond of it and it was one of the first metal albums I ever listened to. Mediocre stuff really especially if you compare it to Ride or to other metal albums of that same year. It baffles me to this day how it is considered by many one of the best metal albums of all time. Same year had Metal heart, The spectre within, Open the gates, Infernal Overkill, Skeptics Apocalypse, Evil Invaders, Master of Disguise(!), The Skull, Feel the fire, Hell Awaits, Mega Therion, Boded by (fuckin) Blood to name the most striking here, but somehow MoP takes the cake. Mildly infuriating...

I agree very much with your opinion. Master is such an over rated album. Not a popular opinion, but true.

I find it kinda odd that people seem to be really butthurt about your opinion on some of the songs. It's almost as if they think just because something was instrumental to a major genre of music that everyone HAS to like it by default. No, no you don't have to. This is about a personal opinion and not an objective critique. Btw there is no "objectivity" in art.

If you don't understand why Metalloca (loca , loca) was one of the most recognizable metal band rather than Slayer the answer is very simple: they had a lot of catchy songs which were more digestible for a common listener (not metalheads only). More listeners = more fans = more money $ = more investments = .... blah blah.

Not being a Metallica fan myself and only enjoying the ride the lightning album I'm glad that I don't know any other album by them. Good video with honest opinions!

When I first heard Sleep Token I wondered why they exploded, and then I listened 80% of their discography, so I can stand my ground in an argument. They are great musicians but like you said they're all over the place. Some songs are awesome, like Hypnosis, but some songs are frustrating because they are too talented to come up with songs that are just boring and uninteresting. On the other hand, I really like their drummer II. He is awesome as fuck. The way that he incorporates other styles in his drumming is interesting and fun, and just plain awesome. Some songs are mediocre except his drumming which is out of the planet.

People that weren't a teenager when these albums were released, will never understand the impact the first 3 albums had on the Metal community, but Ride The Lightning has always and will always be my number one Metallica album..

One more thing, spam fest yeah. Black album really projected Metallica to the stars. They were on constant tours for a decade, and played for 1.5 million people at Monsters of Rock in Moscow. There was luck also, perfect timings. Napster situation also, they shut it down and Napster was the shiii back in the day. Mastermind of Lars and James.

Oof...prepare for some deserved hate in the comments. You're stepping (overly harshly in some places imo) on legendary songs here. I tried to understand the points you made, and most were not well articulated, but I think overall you're jaded by the popularism of the band and perhaps forgetting that these were pioneering songs that defined an emerging global metal industry. On the flip side, maybe I'm giving you too much credit by saying that. These are your opinions and thats ok, I guess I was just expecting a more considered and thoughtful review of the albums.

Black metal follower for years here. When I was a teenager I started with metal music and in that time Metallica was the band everybody associated to metal. My metal journey started with them, in fact, when I was 17 or something my dad took me to see them live. Few years after I found black metal and I felt it was the sound, the feeling I was looking for. Metallica did not continue in my music life, but songs like For Whom the Bell Tolls, Welcome Home, or the (boring) Fade to Black and One will be forever in my heart. They are good songs, and believe me, live One has nothing to do with the album track, it is absolute fire, at least in the tour I saw them.

Also Hetfield explained why there is no bass. Jason tended to double Hetfield's rhythm guitar parts, so it was hard to tell where his guitar started, and Jason's bass left off. Also, Jason's tone on Justice was very scooped, all lows and highs, with very little midrange. Hetfield's guitar sound ate up all the lower frequencies. Jason and Hetfield were always battling for the same space in the mix.
