Great job. I used the Matala Mat (Grey) in my mechanical filter. I cut it with a pair of tin snips. Accurate cutting! Looking forward to the next one.

Instead of connecting the two barrels with a "FIXED" valve between, flexible rubber pipe could be better used with clamps for easily removing at the time of cleaning the two barrels.

They are easy to clean with a garden hose with a spray nozzle, as long as you have a paved area to set them on.

I had matalla mats in the skimmer and filter of my koi pond. They work pretty good for filter media.
you can use $dollar store mesh bags and plastic strapping ( like they use with shipping boxes) as filter media. works great.

This is looking like a very interesting little project. I really like the idea of no head pressure on your pump, that should help it last much longer I would think ...
What about using a jigsaw to cut your filter material? It might be a little more accurate for your measurements, just a thought.
Looking forward to the next update on this one!
    Happy harvests!

Thanks for the jigsaw tip, I'll try that when I get the next two mats. Steve

williamwhittom I use the floor buffi g pads in a 150 gallon Rubbermaid water tank. This works great for my 1000 gallon koi pond.

I've never actually measured it but theoretically, tilapia have a feed conversion ratio of 1.8 to 1 which means that for every 1.8 pounds of feed in, you should yield 1 pound of fish. So if I stock 20 fish and harvest at 2 pounds each, that's 40 pounds of fish x 1.8 FCR = 72 pounds of feed.

What camera are you using? I'm not sure about anyone one else but on my side everything seems to shift sometimes? Is it a 360* camera?

It's an artifact of video stabilization software used when editing the video. It reduces the shakiness, but warps the footage.
