I was married to a girl named Rachel. We were together almost six years, but married less than eight months. She died in a car accident. I broke my leg and lost far more than just a finger in that accident. I listen to this song every so often just to remember how much I loved her.

Yea. I wasn't planning on crying tonight. But then I have to go and load this song up. Might as well go watch Clannad again while I'm creating new rivers.
i forgot how beautiful the story and character development was in FF6. It really deserves a full blown remake, not sure about 7.
As a huge fan of both games, I wish that Square would just leave them alone. VII and VI are amazing the way they are. Bringing them into the 21st century with new gameplay, voice actors and most importantly: a new crew working on our beloved worlds and characters will almost certainly end in disappointment. Some stories are best left untouched, especially stories that were as perfect as FF VII and VI.
I'm sure you'll never see this, but this scene always reminded me of the part at the end of Clannad where Tomaya stops Nagisa at the foot of the hill.
The whole game is almost entirely endless tragedy that happen and happened to the characters. The world gets destroyed. And everyone loses their homes. And family. And hope. And...well, everything. There are not many happy moments in FF6. But it is absolutely my favorite derivative of the series.
And that's what makes ffvi good, it didn't focused on a single character like terra instead everyone else like celes,locke, etc which have their own background story that makes your outlook on them different.
Then there is the other side, for an entire year the bad guy wins and Kefka is a god. Not many games do that either
There's an idiom in writing a story that follows the idea that for a story to be well-received, you, as the writer, must be brutal and caustic to your protagonists. If the protagonists fail, it's a tragedy; if they succeed, then the victory is well-earned.
For this reason, the ending of FFVI is welcomed so much.

Despite this being related to a very sad story between Locke and Rachel, it also plays at the game's moment of brightest hope: after losing all hope and attempting suicide, Celes receives a very familiar bandana from a carrier pigeon and realizes Locke is still alive, somewhere. "Forever Rachel" was most powerful for me there.
LoL. "Forever Rachel" define Gratitude, Love and Let It go, This is what called virtue. Human never understand this as they love indulge in 7 sins LoL. Wahahahahahah

I love how in the beginning of the game Terra and even Celes question Locke on his motives for helping, and then we finally understand his true hidden pain of losing Rachel being that motivation. Hearing his theme song changed to this sad melody makes his story feel so tragic, yet you dont get that payoff until so late in the game (and you HAD to complete the Phoenix cave in order to do so), and its SO rewarding.
I was today years old when I realized Forever Rachel is closely related to Lockes theme. Thank you.

Locke's backstory could easily be a movie of its own, that's how interesting and well-detailed the characters in FF VI were. An all-time great game :)
You have incredible talent for making these. Respect to you dude. This will always be my favourite RPG of all time. The story, characters, soundtrack, tragic moments and variety the game offered was just amazing. They don't make them like this anymore. Dying for a remake.
Probably the most deepest scene in this game, and one many players were hoping to see a happier ending to when first learning about it early in the game with Locke's story...I know I was.
*sigh* Can relate to the feeling of blaming yourself for a loss. He was fornuate in the game that Rachel "set his heart free" and told him not to hate himself anymore. Many of us may never have that sense of peace.
But then again it is a game after all. Prob the deepest of all the FFs
+Silent157 The Rachel story, Celes thoughts of suicide, the Mobliz teen parents, and the attempted neonaticide of Gau . . . those are powerful moments that were way beyond a child's understanding. This is the first RPG to have so many adult themes. Sadly it may never be remade so we can appreciate their world of balance and ruin.

Please remake this game square! I remember the good times playing this game. Having bad days at work but then after work I came home to play this game and that made life good.

It's such a contrast to his trumpeting theme song. Using the same initial first notes and then really taking it to a new, tragic direction.

+AlterBridgeFan1337 Cloud and Aerith hadn't known each other long enough for me to believe they could be an item. I also dislike that no matter who you get more relationship points with, Cloud still gravitates toward Aerith a lot. I hope that the remake fixes that.
FFVI still surpasses every FF to date in story, music, and characters.

Man I am wilding out, is this an actual quote from the game? If you google search this line it literally auto searches for "Things your partner should never say to you" and I am dying with laughter at that in context of what this is.
@@darronlockett9211 It is not from the game. I am just a massive FF6 fan and I like writing fanfiction. Locke is my favorite character from that game, so I get into the characters' headspace.
Good news is Terra isn't interested in Locke, so no need to compete.

I never dated a girl named Rachel; however, the story behind this song and the emotion of love this song provokes amazing. I've listen to this song when I'm sad for the past 18 years, always seems to put life into prospective.

It's impossible to listen to this and not get chills, at least for me. This game defined my childhood and still remains my favorite RPG of all time. A modded Fallout 3 might be second.
