Kudos to the guy who released the video with the track here:

So the remake version of Those Who Fight/Let The Battles Begin/Fighting was released recently and I decided to muck around with the original since I realized they had a similar BPM.
Not gonna lie, I was blown away. I didn't expect both to play/compliment each other so nicely. So after doing some adjustments, I exported it and just did a 10 min version since I know a lot of my friends and people on YT will just ask for it. (No I ain't doing a 10 hour or whatever length version. Do it yourself lol)
So here it is fellas, old and new working together.
Those Who Fight (Together)
Peace out folks!

You can tell it comes from the same exact sound sheet. I like when remakes are like this: The same but upgraded
SAME
I like when people leave well enough alone. Less "is" in fact more sometimes. This isn't bad and it won't stop me from playing the remake because the game itself looks phenomenal but it doesn't capture the tension and stress of battle quite like the original. Everyone is a fan of remakes and covers these days. I'm a purist so for me originality is more important than bells and whistles. Very few covers are better than the original. This isn't one of them.
Vile_Tribe original FFVII is not nearly as amazing as people remember it to be. I think they’re using the remake to capitalize on missed opportunities and nostalgia.
@@nuisanceabatementvehicle160 So you are saying they should have used 90s midi sound in a modern 2020 game because "less is more"?
@@symphony137 yeah congratulations you can read. What? You want a medal or something? As i said before it didn't need to be remade only reused in the new release. I'm i clear to you?
You know the remake did a phenomenal job when you can hear mere traces of the original
@Hyperionsf that's what's being said. Even though the two are playing at the same time, you can only hear the remake version except at key moments (like the trumpet at 0:46 and the ensuing... Whatever that high pitched instrument is). And it's because the remake was so faithful to the original, just with better sound quality.
Nothing is like the original except extremely general story and names
Gameplay, music, cutscenes, character beats, and look are all completely different
@@Hobbes7.62 hes talking about the battle theme you know? 😂
What do you mean "mere traces" it's the same thing just updated lol
@@JohnIvoryMusic That's the point the remake is so precise in replicating the original while adding to it that the original only shows in the few parts where something *wasn't* replicated.
This song should be called: "Those Who Fight Together"
It is.
Is "Let the battles begin" xd
@@pixelcovergames6365 Thats Eyes Of Heaven, the game where I, part 5 jotaro, did not get a part in...

;-;
It should have said a unique way on Zack's last stand.
"Activating Final Battle mode".
I don't know why, but it would be a way to know this is Zack's final fight.
We need to play as zack in this remake
Why you gotta do this to me?
Syzonax I think you’ll be very happy with the remake
ff8masterc noooo pls stop right there I don’t want to be spoiled I want the game to be a surprise
You can’t even tell there are 2 songs, it just feels like one!
Its hard to listen to them separately after hearing this version.

This music has hit it's limit break, and it's AWESOME.
This song went into overdrive(ffx reference)
2:02 is the best part. Hearing those notes makes me feel like a kid again. I might break down into tears once I hold this remake in my hands.
X2
tears rolling down my face at 35 years old.
i did break down in tears watching the intro till the game logo on the remake.
Did it make you cry?
you will....
This is the best battle theme to me, period.
Hell yes
Absolutely agree 100%!!!!
have you heard of--
... nah I'll have to admit too
Kayyin Eks haha I’d like to hear your candidate!
Yep! That and the 10 battle theme as well as stand your ground from 15 and 4’s battle theme
Now do a mashup with the Smash Bros version of the song please!!
Oh wait..
Well there is a fanmade smash 4 remix that's amazing
I wish Square wasn't so stingy :(
@@jessk1874 we all do. There was so much potential for the FF series in smash too, Square missed out on a huge marketing opportunity
@@NotExtro lol wut. As if Smash would do anything for FFVII. It's already the most high profile JRPG and the remake isn't even coming to Switch.
TenchiHawkwing It’s still a shame that such a great series with great music can’t be represented as well in Smash Bros
You ever get that weird feeling when something is just so amazing and beautifully chilling that it gives you this weird nostalgic feeling, kind of like determination but at the same time not really, and you feel like you absolutely have to express the feeling but it can’t be put into words because it’s just so...whatever that feeling is-and it makes your heart beat really fast? Yeah. That’s basically how I feel whenever I hear this song and I just want to shout but at the same time be really quiet and I’m just filled up with energy but at the same time not really and I could go on an endless tangent about how amazing this song is so someone please just help me like I could listen to this song over and over and over and not get tired of it-
They couldn’t have made a more perfect fighting theme
It’s called the power of music
It's easier to fall in love with music without lyrics and listen to them over and over because it's just music. That's thr true power of Orchestral and Jazz. Most people don't realize that the heart of music lies within the instruments. But those who do get much much much more out of music!
This song is bursting with strong determination and overcoming! Most people miss out on it.
King Sama yeah! It’s so empowering!
I know that feeling.
I like how each song fills in the other's blank space.
Its continuous, constantly building action and they clash so well for being the same song done in different eras
Exactly this tickled all the good parts of my brain
Some people are saying that they can't notice the difference but listen to the remake version and you'll notice that some parts sound empty, in this video the midi version fills those parts and makes it go "forward" with some extra energy
Huh?
But the remakes version adds a lot in spaces the midi version was empty and had a ton of space, I like how the remake added the stringed part onto the main melody the second time, truely amazing.
Oh you’re right bro
They might've done that on purpose to show this is just the first part maybe part 2 will start getting more instruments added by the time part 3 comes around this is what we will have:)
Agree.
0:55 this part always makes me so happy.
I feel like they overdid it in the remake, the high-pitched theme being covered by too loud layers of strings and brass. I love how you hear the theme very clearly in the original and it conveys epicness like something’s gonna burst.
FF6 and OG FF7 spoilers:
FF6 and FF7 are very similar in themes and morales, with og FF7 they mixed in losing someone that gave you assurance in times of doubt
You can hear it very distinctly not only in the fact they both have an "Apocalyptic" theme that plays during the final act of the game but the battle themes of both convey very different feelings than a normal fight epicness of the FFs that preceded
FF6 goes for a more crude and cruel fighting theme, it's energetic but not heroic
meanwhile FF7, which has also a heavier environmental message than 6, is heroic but describes with 0:55 the doubts of being able to succeed in something seemingly impossible
aka. both start merging somber feelings and notes in their battle themes
You know it’s banger when you’ve played through the game 5 times and heard this song 1000s of times, and it still hits in the feels.
It's like they're two halves of one whole.
That chills when you hear those *CLANGS*
This is the manifestation of the feeling when you discovered Final Attack = Phoenix for the first time.
FF7 is truly being reborn in a new era.
While combining it with HP & MP swap 😎
No it's not. It's being shit on with the demake and the original wasn't even that great to begin with.

The original version: brilliant. The remake version: brilliant. The mix: enhanced super brilliant!
They should do this to all the tracks in the game. Nostalgia and newness combined!
They so much for doing this for everyone. I was doing it the hard way, having to open tabs of UA-cam with both these versions. These songs sound so awesome together.
Same lol. It was annoying to get the timing right.
@@tintinthomas1674 yeah it was. The new "remix" has this really cool build up before it starts, but that made it hard to play them together since the original starts immediately.
Tintin Thomas 1 sec on remake and 0 on the original. I even have it memorized :^)
Listening to this I fee like they should have intentionally done this and hidden the original tracks in the new songs. Great work 👍
I wanna see the orchesta playing it live 😍
Hilda Nadhila Hasbi me too! It sounds like this is the hardest they probably ever played!
there was an attempt to this i think. quite a few long time ago from a renowned indonesian conductor

The ff7 remake orchestra was on tour but covid stopped it temporarily
you can finally hear it in Alodia’s wedding. Philharmonica played it
best version because the steam engine sounds are also in now
That’s what that was!
The anvil sounds are in the remake version too.
@@F-Lambda but they're more prominent in the original version.
This is the best battle theme in the history of video-games
The way the audio levels of both tracks are manipulated to allow one to highlight over the other and vice versa is fantastic. Well done.
Back in the day, only the almighty Ruby weapon could last long enough to allow you listen to this battle theme over 10mins
I just got to where aerith dies
@@Astreon123 If you're challenging the weapons remember Emerald has an atk that does 1,111 dmg x Materia equipped per person (so having 9 equipped on any party member means they take 9,999 dmg) and Ruby is susceptible to paralysis (you can steal a paralysis item from a certain monster in the game) 👍
Beating Emerald when you don't know about Aire Tam Storm and the damage calculation is certainly harder. But it was the most challenging boss and required creative thinking. Loved playing this game back before I knew so much about it. It's impossible to really recapture that first impression of watching the Weapons fade away.
@@Blxz, Ruby was harder for me. All I needed for Emerald was the Underwater Materia. Didn't even do the broken combos, like Final Attack/Phoenix, KotR, etc...4x cut on Cloud, Cid and RedXIII and that was it. Ruby on the other hand...That guy was hard. Had to waste so much mega elixers and spam KotR, lol.
@@chaldeanguy8356 fair enough. What level did you do it at the first time?
This for this version. It's really really beautiful.... I even made a cover of this song after listening to this version....
you again..
Watched/listned. Why tf dd you use a MIDI, I also noticed 9 missed notes. Is that why you used a midi? to correct some mistakes? Why not just correct the mistake and record again?
Damn, I can’t even tell a difference lol
That would be because it's the 2 tracks together
The flute is the only hint of the original
@@chronoplex89 The percussion too.
You've gotten Lucky 7's. This is an absolute god damn gem.
I'm speechless with how nice they sound together. In awe, literal awe.
i cant not think of xenoblade every time i hear lucky 7, or even just the number by itself
Two become one.
When I saw the X, I imagined Tidus “HA” ing every note.
oh no
You know what this reminds me of?
That god damn battle square, and getting the worst possible roll on the final round. Ree.
Its been 24 years since I played FF7. Back then couldn't play when it 1st came out as I couldn't afford to own a PS1 after I bought it though I still couldn't afford the game itself so I borrowed it from a friend. If I recall it had like 3 CDs you had to swap out after reaching certain points. Such good times. Now fast forward till today and I am once again in the same position I was 24 years ago lol. I can't afford the FF7 remake despite having a job due to the pricing and the fact I have mortgages to cover. As such I have to have a friend share his steam library with me so I can play it. The irony of it all. lol
This is pretty much what I heard when I first played FF7 back in 1999(I got both ff7 and ff8 as a christmas present)
ScrewFearMe that must have been the most kick ass Christmas ever
最初リメイクがメインに聞こえてきて、段々原作の方が聞こえてくるの好き
God thinking about 2020, it was a perfect time to get into final fantasy vii. I was hyped for the remake but decided to play the original game earlier that year so waiting a week for remake was just nostalgic as hell. and man that remake was one godtier experience, I’ll never forget playing both games, ESPECIALLY the original, that shit helped me out so much that year and is my favorite game of all time. Even if 2020 was 2020, playing ff7, hyping up the remake with new fans, experiencing sephiroth in smash and waiting to know what’s gonna happen next was all so magical.
This sounds so good.
The remix sounds almost as great as the original, holy hell.
That's the official remake version.... Which is a lot better than the original
Professional Sponge Yeah, I’m aware that it’s an official remix of the battle theme. And while I do think both are great, I have a soft spot for the original, hence why I prefer it.
@@amirgarcia547 both are incredible, I personally think that both the old new make each other up, as in they fill voids where the track can be empty such as the strings on the melody in the new one, and the prolonged hold on the old one and the timpani, amazziiiing both of them but I prefer the new one only because it sounds.... Real, is the only way I can describe it. Old one rocks though and I heard people say it fits the setting more.
0:42 makes me so happy

We need this but with "those who fight further" as well
I really like this theme.

One of the most iconic video game songs ever
This song just gave me more chills hearing them both together.
Let The Battles Begin! Again!
Finally got around and finished Remake, this song hits hard for FF7 OG players, now onto to Rebirth!
I really hope they have an option for classic sounds/music in the menu, for nostalgia.
How is this so perfect?
what a beautiful match made in (seven) heaven, simply amazing :D
As of me watching this video, there is 777 subs on this channel. Perfectly balanced. As all things should be.
HOLY F, this is like taking the best parts of both and combining themmm
I've never played nor seen gameplay of Final Fantasy VII, but just hearing this makes me want to buy the original game on my Switch, and pre-order the remake on my PS4.
What are you waiting for ?? Do it ! You won’t regret it and that’s a promise!!!
@@hanino6453 I already have. I've hit level 50 and just cleared disc two. I'm having a good time playing too.
The old MIDI version really fills out the lacking tune at 0:55 in the remake. The remake is much grander while the Midi is a bit more punchy on the higher end. They complement each other very well.
Final Fantasy 7 players when they have to do taxes
I love this. Now we get the best of both worlds.
I truly didn't know how much I needed exactly this until I received it. Thank you, for the most perfect battle theme in all of the Final Fantasy VII Compilation
Why is this not the version in smash? I’m disappointed
Why is it required to use the premium to download offline?
GOODNESS!!! 0:55 sounds phenomenal. It has the original’s feels and the remake’s power. It’s sooooo good. Just listen how it harmonizes.
There's a couple of neat compositional tricks in here, that they just take to an extreme. Namely, start a phrase in the middle of another one - and start a phrase on the last note of the last one. And I guess pentatonic scales and arpeggios never hurt anyone either - and melodies within chords. They went all out with this one. It makes me feel as ecstatic as a dog hearing 5 different emergency sirens at once
2012-remake? Yes i mention the second release of PC version.

Looks like I used my double materia to on the "final fantasy VII" materia.
They really should have done this with the final track. Man, this is actually really impressive that they fit so seamlessly over each other. I'd love to see this done with all the tracks
........ I need this for *_Those who Fight Further_* !
Hearing this make me pause and dance cause…… YES!
This is the perfect version....
I assume some editing was done to make these work better together than if we had just layered them without a thought, but I'm still surprised at how good this sounds.
Square Enix should noticed this mash-up and remastered it again
I guess what I missed in the Remake theme is the cymbals or clinking sound in the background, this combination is perfect!
if this thing is on the ff7ri, man im dying
I've never played FF7, but I love the music!! This sounds so epic...
If you never played the original, I HIGHLY recommend it. The original FFVII stands as one of the greatest RPG games in history, it hits so hard right in the feels. It does make you bond with the characters of your team, it makes you really hate the protagonist, it's honestly one of the best games I ever played. Hands down, no joke, and that's coming from a mid 40s gamer with experience in video games going back to the early 80s, over 30 years of regular gaming on almost all systems.
Well I am playing ff7
Perfection.
Nothing more to say!
I never expect this to be THIS good !
I can’t wait! I FF7 is back baby!!!!
SquareEnix wants to know your location.
Knights of the round + twin cast
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful
Holy...shit. The most logical, and sublime thing to do, when you can do this, because, it's this. Woah. Like others have mentioned better, the 'filling in the blank' nature of this layering is breaking my brain over, and over, and the answer was so easy, but how, is it this obvious, and good.
Good lord, jump this to 1.25 speed after the shockwave subsides, for another shockwave, thiis song's beat is indestructably awesome with the tempo from the original behind it, and, that owns
THIS GOES HARD RAAAAAAAH
Who else just can't wait to hear the remake of One Winged Angel?
Far as ive noticed the remakes are mostly just the symphonic arrangements... Sometimes with a bit of the composers rock flair added, this meshing well doesn't surprise me.
