To me this truly is the greatest video game theme of all time. It's perfect! I still remember getting this for my 14th birthday in '94 and watching the opening cut-scene of the Magitek armor marching across the snowy plains toward Narsh. That scene and this music gave me an emotional experience that has yet to be topped. Flawless track to a flawless game.
@@ryukshinigami5106 imagine HD Terra and Kefka. tho i want to know how'd they'll modernize his laugh tho. all in all should be interesting since this is the last pre-Nomura FF, so very different style. the concept art is basically a 25-year old watercolor after all...
@Matteo Leonardi really? because the Spyro and Crash Badicoot remasters so far have been very good, very successful, and very well loved it can be done. it HAS been done. just gotta put your heart in it (and not just doing it for the sake of doing it for the cash grab like another goddamn CoD game)
They have to wait for us to die off because they would have to please all of us at the same time... I don't know if they have it in them to be able to remake it and not piss 3/4 of us. It would have to be turned based, slightly harder, and lots of other things to give us a remake worthwhile. Also are we going to do it in Ted Woosley recreation... because that is a huge addition to what we know.
This is basically as good an opening to a Final Fantasy game as it's gotten. And that's even with decades worth of improvements in what you can do with music in videogaming,. Sometimes, I think it was the very limitations of what you could do that drove many older VGM tracks like this to greatness.
This is my first experience with a fantasy that did not have an entirely happy ending. Dorothy went back to Kansas without any of her four friends dying; the Pevensies came back through the wardrobe with Aslan happily being resurrected, with their childhood returned like they never left England; and Alice just woke up, leaving Wonderland behind her in a dream. In FF 6, Gen. Leo died, Cid died, all but 1 moogle died, Cyan's whole family was murdered, even Shadow died (if you didn't make it to the airship in time). It all just mirrored (in a fantastic way of course) what happens in real life, and that's what makes it BEAUTIFUL. That's what gave it HEART.
Not to mention the entire world was destroyed. I just loved how they made it seem like the Emperor was going to be the final boss, with you racing against time to save the world from being destroyed... and then you discover that was just the first half of the game.
20 years later; and this song still makes me stop in my tracks. My heart constricts and my cheeks swell. I'm back on that cold morning in Ohio, walking through the falling snow in Magitech armor on my way to Narshe to find the Esper. This will forever be one of the greatest games of all time.
Ah, Terra, con solo recordar como comenzó su historia, sus dudas, sus amistades, sus peleas y demás, puedes llegar a disfrutar aún más esa obra de arte
Played this in the Summer of '96 between 8th and 9th grade. Some of the best memories of my childhood. Playing it this summer with my 5 year old son between pre-k and Kindergarten. I hope the experience is as magical for him as it was for me.
This song always, and I mean ALWAYS, brings a tear of happiness to my eye. I have so many wonderful memories playing this game, it was so incredible at its time, and still holds its place as one of my favorite games ever. I've heard this song literally hundreds of times and it never gets old.
This song works so well with Final Fantasy VI. You can clearly see it had taken place late 1700s/1800s (basically the Victorian Era) where a militia would have bands that had this exact sound, ie a marching band. Not to mention it is defiently one of the most beautifully orchestrated pieces Nobou Utematsu has ever composed. It is with certain a "can't get it out of your head" songs. This remake really did it justice. Fantastic job!
The background elements were brought forward a bit and I love the added sustain to some of the sections. It was very brief, but it added a lot in my ears. Amazing rendition!
Riski Sulthan to be honest I feel nothing for those two they were abusive to terra and while I don’t believe they deserved to die, I won’t miss them >:D
They need to do a "remake" of this game just like how they are doing with FF7. This game is the true icon of the franchise instead of that FF7 despite what most fanboy would say. FF6 started or changed everything in what FF was and what would become in the later franchise. Oh, not to forget Kefka is the only villain in FF that succeeded in destroying the world lol.
I usually don't replay games, however this GEM of a masterpiece made me play it time after time.. I never finished FF7 (I Stopped after freeing Vincent due to memory Card Failure!!) and never bothered to replay the game since then! When it comes to FF Series the top are FF6 & FF9, together they are 69!! Coincidence?
This should be the remake :"( I don't know what stops Square from doing it. This game is something else, that scene walking towards Narshe, it was impressive. FFVI is one of the best godamn games of all time. I don't care what anyone says, even with it's flaws, for me is just the perfect game.
An awesome remaster of one of the best tracks ever created! This is why good music is generational and lives with the times, but truly great music continues to live on and get picked up by others!
Hey I've got to say that a lot of remaster/remix projects can absolutely lose the character of the original track, sometimes because they have a new vision for it and sometimes because they just fiddled too much. IMO these should sound like I remember it sounding, without the harsh edge of old hardware, and you absolutely nailed it. Thanks for this,
I love this variants that make even the tiniest difference in music can make such a danm difference in very fluint ways and the more different instruments the better
Final Fantasy wasn't a game I played for so long because I always felt that if I played it, I was betraying the fanbase I belonged to (which is Zelda) But then I grew up and realized I was retarded so I played the games. For the first time ever in playing a game, I heard music on par with Zelda music. I agree that this specific theme is better than Zelda's theme (Lullaby? Is that what you mean?) but there are many Zelda tracks greater than this and many final fantasy music better than this as well.
No words...This song is unbelievable, and this version here is amazing. I never played FFVI, but i know for many reasons is one of the best, everything i know about the game is fantastic. Maybe VI would be my 2nd favorite on the series, cause IX already occupy an special and irreplaceable place in my heart, one of the games of my life... But, when i listened Terra's Theme for the first time, i felt so impacted and amazed, instant love, and i really can imagine the emotion of playing a game with this tune, one of my top songs on FF series for sure, and it's tough to choose, cause master Nobuo Uematsu is a genius, a brilliant spirit.
Holy crap. I knew your username looked familiar. I remember you made a bunch of FFVI "symphonic" remixes back in the day, I listened to those...these are way, way better though.
I discovered FF VI a little bit late. Only on steam version. I am sad because as I became used to betters and betters graphics I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted. But this music...It is in my top 5 musics of all FF, with Suteki da ne (FFX), Revealed truth (FFX), You're not alone (FFIX) and Eternity - Memory of Lightwaves (FFX-2). Thank you very much for this so beautiful music, and feelings with this music.
While there are some other arrangements of yours I don't particularly like, I have to say your take on the instrumentation and which parts to emphazise was completely spot on in this one. Good job!
This is one of the themes that lead me to start playing music, I used to listen to this and just cry XD, so beautiful. Nice arrangement, better than the Distant Worlds version in my opinion.
needs a little more out of the timpani at the beginning of the bridge but other than that it's pretty darn perfect. This is one of my favorite map themes next to "Eternal Wind", "Main Theme of Final Fantasy IV", "Blue Fields", "Crossing Those Hills", and "Searching For Friends"

I would argue that it doesn't need to be remade _because_ it's already so damn perfect. A remake would ruin it in some way, shape, or form.

This song makes me nostalgic for a time I never actually experienced.
